Bizarre or Unusual Beauty Secrets 101

We all know celebs are out there living the high life, we should all be so lucky and of course with all that money floating about one is bound to get bored. The Muse's theory is the more money you have the more likely you are to adapt a bizarre, possibly unusual beauty regime. It's true right? You have a ton of cash and you've tried every lotion and potion on the market and now you're bored...might as well try something different to spice things up right?

Check out some possibly unusual beauty treatments that celebs and share your own!

Catherine Zeta-Jones
Strawberries
Malic acid acts as an astringent to remove discoloration on teeth. Combining with baking powder, strawberries become a natural way to clean teeth.

Cindy Crawford
Milk
Cleopatra was well known for bathing in milk and honey. Milk is a luscious skin treat when it is added to bath water. Milk exfoliates, softens and nourishes the skin.

Debra Messing
Snake Venom
Supposedly is a great ingredient in anti-wrinkle treatment. I haven't seen any skin care sporting it as of yet but than again I don't have Debra Messing's bank account, must be shopping in the wrong places!

Jennifer Love Hewitt
Toothpaste
Ahhh we've all tried this home remedy I'm sure, a little dab of toothpaste for my pimples. Toothpaste acts as a mask treatment to dry out pimples and reduce their size. Some toothpastes contain menthol or alcohol which accounts for the drying properities and the reduction of a pimple size.

Sandra Bullock
Hemorrhoid Cream
Personally anything that's normally used for your butt would not be touching my face but if Sandra Bullock likes it good for her! Supposedly it's great for wrinkles.

Halle Berry
Coffee
The idea is to mix coffee with some sort of body lotion to buff away cellulite. Can't say if it works but plenty of people swear by it!

Julia Roberts
Olive Oil
Rubbing olive oil into nails and cuticles will keep them soft and moisturized

Eva Longoria
Placenta Protein
Word on the street is that placenta contains highly proteins, vitamins, and such to help skin regenerate.

Teri Hatcher
Wine
Dunno if Teri's drinking in it or bathing in it although the Muse has heard that a glass of vino a day keeps the old ticker beating happy and healthy...not sure about skin though!

Do you have any unusual beauty regimes?

Me, I don't think I really have any. I'm not one for trying out home remedies and the likes so I can't say I really used any of the above treatments.

How about you?

Share 'em!

P.S. I do not endorse any of the above treatments nor do I suggest you try them. I'm not a doctor or a dermatologist and have no way of knowing the effects of these treatments on skin. Always be safe when attempting anything new on your skin. This post is for entertainment purposes only. Whether or not if the following celebs actually use these treatments is entirely speculation please see the source for more information.

Yay or Nay: Kat Von D Goes Blonde

Kat Von D showed up at the Teen Choice Awards with a new blonde do. Honestly, I'm not sure which disturbs me more that she was at the Teen Choice Awards or that she's now blonde. Her hair looks somewhat like a wig though and not a color job? I prefer Kat as a brunette myself but I will say, stringy, straw-looking hair aside, the blonde locks look good but we my need a little conditioner because at the moment it has a too long in the fryer look about it!

Proper Teen Choice attire?

What do you think?

Kat Von D as a blonde?

Yay or Nay?

Madonna's Eye-Conic Look From Shu Uemura

Whether you love her or you hate her it's unquestionable that Madonna is a style icon. From her flair for fashion, her eye for accessories, and of course, most important for the Muse, her minimal yet dramatic makeup she reigns in the realm of chic and classy.

Artistic Director Gina Brooke created Madonna's most recent look for her Sticky & Sweet 2009 Summer Tour and you'll be quite delighted to know how easy it is to do for yourself!

Click it for the details!

Madonna's look was inspired by her hit song "Ray of Light", Brooke, who has been working with Madonna since 2002, transforms Madonna's eyes by applying a mix of crushed, small flawless diamonds and white eye shadow to her lids. The results is a bright and sparkling glow!

Brooke uses Shu Uemura Press Eye Shadow in ME White 905 to provide a soft, light reflecting, diamond-like effect. Brooke uses actual diamonds to surround Madonna's eyes of course we can't all afford to snag ourselves some diamonds. To duplicate the effect try using bindis which you can find in any number of small Indian bridal shops or online at www.bindishop.com

Brooke feels that any woman of any age can wear a shimmery, ethereal shade like ME White 906 from Shu. "A little sheen helps enhance the eyes and instantly gives a younger appearance. Modonna is always up for trying new things and I think all women should feel comfortable experimenting and enhancing their beauty...." states Brooke.

In 2004, Brooke collaborated with Shu Uemura to create a pair of custom made mink lashes for Madonna. In 2006, she took the idea to a revolutionary level by creating a pair of diamond and minkencrusted lashes for Madonna. After overwhelming interest from consumers, the Shu Uemura lashes were created and sold exclusively at Neiman Marcus for $10,000 a pair.

Sparkling white shadow and diamonds always make me think of the crisp frozen Winter, Ice Queens, and Christmas. I love this look as the weather grows colder but sadly the Muse is fresh out of 10 g's for the lashes but she doesn't mind indulging in Shu Uemura ME White 905 and a pack of $1.50 bindi brow stickers to duplicate the look and you can too!

What do you think of Madonna's sparkling diamond look?

Beauty News: 50 Cent Launches Cosmetic Line For Men

Is the economy so bad that 50 Cent isn't doing so well in the record industry? Shrug. Who knows could be but whatever the case is 50 Cent decided that he has a calling, a calling that includes cosmetics for men.

Jump it for the news!

The Cut reports that 50 Cent is launching his own line of cosmetics for men. His line will include moisturizers as well as health supplements which supposedly he feels will "butch" the line up. Umm ok....I dunno if supplements make it any less girly but we still love you 50 (and maybe said supplements will make a man more regular)! And hey if Diddy can do perfume who says you can't go around creating manly man eye cream!

Go on with your bad self 50!

Beauty News: Avon In Bloom Fragrance by Reese Witherspoon

Avon continues it's growth as of late with it's Fall launch of In Boom by Reese Witherspoon. Partnering with many celebs as of late Avon continues it's growth spurt in a hard economy with many friendly budget options for the woman on a shoestring budget or even now appealing to those of us who prefer higher end brands.

Jump ahead to hear more about Avon In Bloom by Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon has partnered with Avon for her very first fragrance launch. The fragrance is a sensual, mysterious blend with top notes of peach, tea leaves, and crisp greens. The heart of the fragrance is a more floral blend featuring notes of gardenia, magnolias, and night-blooming jasmine.

Reese explains while developing In Bloom she was drawn to scents that reminded her of her childhood growing up in Tennessee, “We had a great big Magnolia tree in the back yard, and it's that beautiful white blossom that inspired the perfume. In Bloom is indicative of where I am in my life today. I'm feeling very strong and independent, and so happy, so full of life. The fragrance truly captures that feeling—it's very sensual, very romantic and alluring.”

The fragrance will be an Eau de Parfum and available in two sizes of 1.7oz ($34 USD) and a 1oz limited edition version ($59 USD). A body mist, lotion, and shower gel will also accompany the release for $15 USD each.

Reese was fully involved with the creation of In Bloom from the development of the fragrance to it's name. She wanted the fragrance to be a true reflection of her own personal style.

Sounds interesting enough to me! I'm not too into floral but breaking the notes up with peach could make this appealing to me. I'll be getting one to review for sure as count me curious plus I find Reese rather cute.

L'Oreal Beauty Confidential Inspired by Diane Keaton Smoothing Face Primer Review

If you were wondering where Diane Keaton's been the Muse is here to save the day and tell you what's she's been up to. What? I sometimes lay awake at night and think, "Gee, I wonder what Diane's up to!"

Technically she's been up to making primer for L'Oreal...I think? Actually she's been up to alot with L'Oreal. She has her own L'Oreal Beauty Confidential Inspired by Diane Keaton Collection....I dunno I guess L'Oreal was inspired by Diane....who knows I'm not making this stuff, it's all really true!

L'Oreal Beauty Confidential Inspired by Diane Keaton is an entire collection of cosmetics that I guess L'Oreal wants to appeal to a more mature audience. I'd have personally picked the collection inspired by Ru-Paul but hey props to Di for getting her own cosmetic line although you can color me jealous! I'm still waiting for the MAC Inspired by the Muse Collection, shrug, hasn't happened yet damnit. Although nothing reached out at me much I was somewhat amazed, fascinated, and generally shocked to discover a primer in with the palettes and lipstick. A drugstore primer? Unheard of! Say word! Can it be so? And shaped so slickly like...might I say....Smashbox Photo Finish....Diane you cheeky little devil!

Indeed, this little guy is quite similar to Photo Finish but actually probably in the Muse's humblest little opinion has a better formula and texture than Photo Finish. I don't like Photo Finish. It pills, it causes me to break out, and it's an uncomfortable primer if ever I did see one. L'Oreal Beauty Confidential Inspired by Diane Keaton is considerably better in formula and texture. It's very much a silicon based primer but it feels smoother on my skin, it absorbs easier, and it doesn't break me out nor does it pill. I don't feel like I have a mask on and it makes my skin nice and smooth, likey!

Now...

What it should do.

It should fill pores, fine lines, etc....it should make foundation last longer, remain fresher, and make skin even and flawless.

What it actually does.

Ok, no pore problem here and no fine lines so I can't speak for either of those. Foundation doesn't really last longer but remains fresher if that makes sense. It allows my foundation to not only apply flawlessly but it also lets it breath and keeps it from oxidizing on my face so it remains fresher on. I'd say within an hour or two my foundation completely oxidizes to the point it actually morphs into an entire new color. I've tried plenty of different ways to prevent this from happening and have succeeded a fair bit but a majority of the time nothing helps much. Now L'Oreal Beauty Confidential Inspired by Diane Keaton Smoothing Face Primer probably doesn't keep my foundation completely fresh but it does fairly well at the job, not bad for a drugstore find.

I do think it's impressive to see such a product available in a drugstore as it's not your typical drugstore fare. Honestly, how many silicon primer do you know of at your local drugstore (within the US, don't bring Asia into this and cheat!). It does carry a tiny bit of a hefty price tag at $14.99 USD but I do think it was well worth it as the quality is definitely there.

I think the product is particularly good for anyone with large pores, anyone who likes primers in general, and anyone who wants their makeup to remain a bit fresher for a little while longer. I'm not going to say it did anything major in the way of making my makeup last all day because it didn't but it did allow for a more seamless, flawless look to my foundation and it also kept my foundation fresh. I don't rave about primers much so take my review as a very calm way of saying that this was quite good. I imagine if it was eyeshadow or blush I'd be bouncing off the wall but it is primer which in the Muse's world isn't much to get excited about. That being said I highly recommend snagging a bottle or two as I don't know if it's LE or not and I think it's worth picking up as it is, as I said, very good quality for a drugstore purchase. The price I'm not keen on as it seems a tiny bit high but the size is quite nice so it should last a while. I do see myself purchasing again if I run out. I'm Muse Approving it for purchase since I liked it quite alot.

Overall, I'm loving that L'Oreal is introducing something so "techy" to the drugstore cosmetic world. Yes, it's standard to purchase any number of primers at your fav posh counter or cosmetic store but how many can you find at your local drugstore? Good work L'Oreal...now about that Muse inspired collection.......

Anyone tried Miss Keaton's Collection?

Loves it?

Tell the Muse!

Ahh...also appears this collection is VERY hard to find. FYI I found it at Walgreens but didn't see it anywhere else as of yet nor is it on the L'Oreal website.

Pieces of Life: The Brad "Oh my god he's not airbrushed" Edition

Not that the Muse is a Brad Pitt fan or anything (not since Cool World anyway...the Muse thinks that was a cinematic masterpiece!) but she did take note a few days ago when her issue of W magazine popped into her mailbox with a big, giant face shot of Brad's scary, un-airbrushed mug.

The Muse hasn't been this upset since she seen Gwen un-airbrushed....

Ok, not that I'm pro-airbrushing but who knew that Brad Pitt was old and stuff? Every time the Muse sees him he's smooth as a baby's butt and looking quite like he's 18 at the most.

Who gave him a ticket to pass go and collect $200 all the while aging himself "gracefully" for the cover of W?

He doesn't necessarily look terrible or anything but I admit that when I opened my mailbox and seen this staring back at me I was somewhat shocked....can you blame me?

I was thinking about it and this guy and Brad have alot in common.

Disclaimer: Brad Pitt, Angelina, and the kids were not harmed in the making of this post. This post is solely for the Muse's entertainment purposes no matter how shallow it is.

Pieces of Life: The Gossip Girl Edition

I only got the chance to watch the first five minutes of Gossip Girl this week since the Muse has been very, very, very, alot busy but did you check out who's starring as Chuck Bass's uncle?

Well, hello gorgeous!

Muse, who is this love muffin you speak of?

Tis my future husband Desmond Harrington of course!

Desmond played Joey Quinn in this season of Dexter and did a brilliant job of it might I add. Now the Muse normally doesn't fall for manly men such as Desmond but she must say that his accent sends shivers down her little spine. Desmond was born in Georgia but grew up in the Bronx and that boy has the accent to prove it. Loves it! I don't think I've seen him in a role where he's fully dropped his accent so it's always rather fetching to watch him work. Growing up in New York I have a deal for the accents around these parts...hells you should hear my friend Marc his accent is harder and rougher than Desmond's!

And hello now he's playing Chuck's uncle on Gossip Girl? The Muse is totally thrilled. Holy Hotness Batman! I sure hope that they keep him on Dexter next season as well because although he wasn't cast in the most brilliant light the Muse just enjoys the extra eye candy on the show! Yums! I think they'll set him up with Lily on Gossip Girl but from what I have seen...was he flirting with Blair in that first scene? This could get dangerous!

Desmond is Muse Approved by all means possible teehee!

Love him?

Tell me!

Non Cosmetic Babblings About the Brit Awards 2008

After a bit of a wait the US was treated to the Brit Awards a few weeks ago on BBC America. The original showing was about over a month ago British side I believe and I finally got to sit down and see it for myself rather then go through youTube clips, blogs, etc....

I always appreciate Brit Award shows far more then I do the US ones. I found the Brits really hang loose where as we are so commercial and Hollywood US side the Brits just sorta sit back, kick back the liquor, get loud and enjoy themselves. Not likely in the US Award ceremonies. The UK always remind me of a buncha drunk folk in a pub lushing it up. I don't normally even like Award shows but if it's British I'm all over it like white on rice!

The awards were hosted by none other then the Prince of Darkness and his family. I freaking love watching the Osbournes in action. It's like a trainwreck, you just can't take your eyes off, particularly Sharon. I love Ozzy and I love Black Sabbath and watching Ozzy age before my very eyes has always taken a little bit of getting used too!

Ozzy was fine, Jack was fine, Kelly was fine, but I couldn't figure out if Sharon was high, drunk, or just being a show off in general. I go with being a show off. She's one for flashing herself around and acting all hot in the pan. She was really, really irritating. I normally find her ok to deal with but last night I felt like slapping her upside the head.

I must say that the amount of weight that Jack and Kelly have taken off is amazing and they really look very healthy and beautiful. Not that they weren't before but they just look very cleaned up and mature. A big improvement over the old Kelly and Jack for sure.

The strangest part of the entire night was when Sir Ian McKellen got up to present and proceeded to say, "If you're wondering (and I was wondering) what I'm doing at the Brits, I'm here to meet MIKA!"

At this point I gulped my tea the wrong way and spurted it back out at the TV. Wow. Way to out a guy Ian! I love me some Ian but this might be a bit too much considering how private Mika is about his sexuality and which side he's pitching for. I imagine at this point the poor guy crawled under his table and prayed for death!

The Muse's favorite Doctor made his special appearance at the awards and general drool, panting, and such occurred as he walked on stage to present. David has a knack for swinging around the court in a manly manner or last night in this particular case he displayed his metrosexual sense of flair and style with a close fitting jacket and a ultra cute t-shirt with a star emblem. We love you David, you're a god. He presented the award to Kylie whom walked right into David's arms as I stared daggers at the screen. I felt a bit of chemistry there...hmm the girlfriend is going to be jealous David you cheeky little monkey! I almost threw the TV out the window at this point since I was gagging so hard watching Kylie's little botox arse hug David so hard but I realized I had a good hour left of the show so best keep the telly sitting where it was!

Amy Winehouse was surprisely sober during all this fanfare or at least she looked slightly sober. Her voice, as always, was beautiful. Her hair was in some decent sort of order, decent for Amy anyway. I suspect she took a few downers in the back prior to going on stage because damn she was very mellow. I almost didn't recognize the "unwired" Amy!

Rihanna was looking beautiful as always! I can totally understand why this chick's legs are insured for a million bucks!

Oh Lord I'm embarrassed for Sharon!

I think the major highlight of the night was the brief 20 seconds that Jonathan Rhys Meyers hopped on stage to present. He was looking smoking HOT! We aren't exposed to enough JR here in the states. Please can it be Jonathan Rhys Meyers time all the time? Thanks the Muse appreciates it!

We know why you like his album Jonathan!

I was also loving the
Arctic Monkeys! They looked sweet as pie in my humblest! That could be a bias opinion as I love them so much!

All in all an interesting night of beautiful brits!

Did you see it?

It should be available on youTube by now!

Do share if you watched!

Heath Ledger Broke?!

I was shocked to hear that Heath Ledger has a total of $100,000 to his name. I'm left wondering how the hell that's possible?

According to a news article on Yahoo the Brokeback Mountain star has a total of $100,000 in various bank accounts, a $25,000 car, and about $20,000 in furniture and home fixtures. He's not in dept but he wasn't exactly doing so great.

Click!

The man's mad 23 films or so and he only squirreled away $100,000? Granted many of the films he's starred in are Indie however he has been in some seriously silly Hollywood flicks...he had to be paid something for those right?

Wow.

Shocked here.

Koda Kumi is a Goner!

I was wandering around the Visee website this morning and it's pretty much official that Kodi Kumi is a goner from the champaign.

The new site is updated with a face chart when you click "What's New?"

Here's what you used to get when clicking "What's New?" As you can see Kodi Kumi has been replaced with a cutesy face chart!

I believe the site went live again about a week or two ago and the images have been revamped to exclude Kodi Kumi from the ads. I'm not sure if she's completely gone or this is temporary while the fire cools. I'm betting she's gone completely and the Summer Collection will feature a new spokesperson! But we shall see! I'll miss her actually as she has that edge that really brought Visee alive for me and I'm curious who they'll replace her with!

Below is the new Make-Up theme, again Kodi Kumi has been replaced by the cute face chart image!

If you're not up to date on the drama click here to read why Kodi Kumi is under fire at the moment!

My Celebirty Look-A-Likes

I decided to do one of these "Celebrity Look-a-likes" after seeing them on a few other blogs! I'm scratching my head wondering how my celebrity look-a-like falls into the Beyonce and Eva Langoria range!

I thought for sure after putting my picture up it would compile and come up with images of Roseanne Bar, Rosie O'Donnell, and if I was lucky by some chance maybe they'd stick Mia Tyler in there!

But I somehow got lucky. I really couldn't care less about Eva Langoria but hell I don't mind being compared to Beyonce but above all else they went and released my inner Asian and I'm now on par with the likes of Aya Matsuura.

I feel like I've arrived. Aya Matsuura! Am I awesome or what!?

Now another one I'm properly chuffed with is Brigette Bardot. Wow...I'm a sex symbol now baby!

Upload your picture at My Heritage website and tell me who your Celebrity Look-a-Likes are!

Gene Simmons on Ugly Betty

So Gene Simmons has been whoring himself on telly lately....This is off the topics of cosmetics so you might want to turn away while I babble vintage rock.

I couldn't sleep last night so around 3 am I found myself sitting up in bed with my ultra awesome sweetest softest blanket from Bath and Body Works (I love that thing) and powering up the Tivo to catch up on Ugly Betty. It's been weeks since the last episode and I just now got the chance to have a watch!

Much to my delight Gene Simmons popped up during the last 2 minutes of the show. Dontcha love that Gene Simmons whores himself all over TV lately? Celebrity Apprentice, Ugly Betty, Family Guy, and even SpongeBob Square Pants!

You think maybe 30 years ago Gene Simmons thought to himself "Hey when I'm 60 I think I'll lend my ultra awesome voice to a kids show about a Sponge that lives under the sea in a pineapple! ROCK ON!" Or even better yet wouldn't it be awesome to hear Gene sing the theme song? Holy cow I'd rock out to that.

Anyway.

Gene also has his own reality show on A&E called Family Jewels. As I watch Gene and his slightly dysfunctional family the thought crosses my mind of how the mighty have fallen! I can't wrap my mind around the fact that Gene Simmons, God of Rock, has a reality show. Wow. Just Wow.

I think I was 5 and my cousin Joe, was about 17 or 18 and he'd pump up KISS on his very low end car stereo (the height of technology in our hay day) in his pimp'ed up Monte Carlo. Yup, my cousin was the Fonz. That's right. He drove a pimp daddy, deep red Monte Carlo, wore a leather jacket, and had all the girls swooning at his feet. To this day my dad always looks back on Joe with fond memories and is in awe that he's a family man now! Who would have thought all the grease in his head would lead to a beautiful wife and kids (sadly he doesn't have much hair left to grease which the Muse is fond of reminding him of).

Anyway my deep appreciation for vintage rock is due to him I guess. Mostly my blog stems from the fact that I miss Joe alot lately (he hasn't been doing so well but that's a story for another day).

As I was watching Gene Simmons wag his tongue around on Ugly Betty last night I couldn't help but think it would crack Joe up that this is where Gene Simmons has ended up circa 2008!

The moral of the story is we love you Gene but less cheese and more rock please! You're killing your image!

If you're any kind of a fan of KISS you might be tickled to know that it appears the writers of Ugly Betty have even infiltrated Paul Stanley as he'll be on the show too shortly! Lord...what is the world coming too?

I'm predicting the future and I'm seeing Paul and Gene on Home Shopping Network next year selling anti wrinkle cream that goes on white and black and gives you the alluring charm of the Demon or the Starchild! I can't wait till I'm 60 so I can buy it ;)

Discuss (I imagine everyone is thinking shut up get on with the cosmetics already!)?
