Bobbi Brown Bronzed Pink Collection Review

As per my original sneak peek post at Bobbi Brown's Bronzed Pink Collection today I am bringing you my complete review of the items I snagged from the collection.

The collection consists of a variety of beautiful bronze powders, shadows, and lip colors. I think this collection would be appealing to those of you that enjoy a sun kissed look for the Summer. I'm not particularly a big fan of bronzers myself but I've been experimenting a bit which is shocking! I'm brave enough to go out of the house wearing bright pink eyeshadow but when it comes to natural, neutral shades or in this case bronzers I find that I'm not so courageous.

I was lucky enough to get a chance to test out the metallic eyeshadows and tinted lip balm. I've been yearning to try out the tinted lip balm for a while now!

The tinted lip balms are a moisture rich lip treatment with a tiny touch of metallic shimmer. Three new colors were released with the Bronzed Pink Collection and I tested out two in the shades Golden Pink and Bronzed Pink.

Golden Pink is a rosy pink color with touches of gold while Bronzed Pink is a chocolate metallic shade. Both shades will look smashing with your Summer tan. I enjoyed the formula of these as they slick on wonderfully and leave beautiful, glossy color on the lips without being heavy, sticky, or tacky.

Although the swatches are bit sheer I am happy to report on my lips they were quite pigmented. If you desire a lighter look simply swipe the balm across your lips once. If you prefer a darker look just layer the color on for a heavier pop of color!

I got so happy and hyper about the Metallic eye shadows that I completely forgot to look closely at them to see if I could pop them out and use them in the Bobbi Brown Custom Palettes. Well duh!

Anyway.

I got two shade selections to review for you. Bronzed Pink which is a dusty nude rose and Penny which is a light chocolate copper shade.

Both shades have a satiny metallic finish. Don't confuse the look of metallic with shimmer as these have no heavy shimmer or glitter. They blend beautifully and pigmentation is excellent. You can go really heavy with these if you please or do a light color wash. I haven't tried them wet and it doesn't mention wetting them but I'm curious how they'd look if I attempted that!

Again my swatches came out very sheer but when you see my FOTD you'll notice how pigmented these are considering what a heavy hand I used during application.

I decided to contrast the shades when I did my looks. I paired up Penny eye shadow with Golden Pink lip tint and Bronzed Pink eye shadow with Bronzed Pink lip tint. Instead of pairing up the bronze colors together and the pink colors together I mixed it up a bit. I also tried my hand at creating a bronzy look on my cheeks instead of my normal "blushing" pink cheeks I'm known for.

Below I am wearing Bobbi Brown Metallic Eye Shadow in Penny on my eyes and Bobbi Brown Tinted Lip Balm in Bronzed Pink on my lips.

All in all a very nice collection of goodies from Bobbi this Summer! I'm still dying to get my hands on the Pink Metallic eye shadow palette! I'm sure a review for it is coming soonish from the Muse!

And the Winners Are..............

Sorry I'm a bit late with this but may I have a Drum roll please!?

And the Winners of the SpinLash Contest are......................

Robert
Marty Pauline

Rachel Vargas

In order to collect your prize please e-mail your complete home address to musings.of.a.muse@gmail.com! If I don't hear from the winners within 7 days I will select new winners!

Sadly, a problem with Blogger caused all the comments to appear ahead of time but most people put their hardest googling techniques to work in order to get the correct answers to my question!

If you somehow missed it here were the questions:

Who is the girl below?

Hint: Mr. Saxon aka The *blank* once mentioned how her "father" (I use the term father loosely!) supposedly single handedly sealed the rift in The *blank* Cascade!

The girl is Jenny, the good Doctor's Daughter! I used the term "father" very loosely as Jenny was created using some of the Doctor's DNA. Sorry Who fans sadly Jenny was not created in the traditional sense and there was no hanky panky involved! The Muse arranged it so no sexual hijinks will occur unless I'm present within the Tardis. House rules and all that!

A little fun fact for the Who fans: Georgia Moffett is actually Paul Davison's real daughter! Pretty awesome right?

If you filled in the blanks correctly and said the Master you'd be right! Mr. Saxon was an alias for the Doctor's arch enemy, the Master (RSVP Roger Delgado! The one true Master in the Muse's eyes!).

Although it hasn't happened yet, the Master does indeed mention that the Doctor single handedly sealed the rift in the Medusa Cascade.

Yay if you got all the answers correct! I wish I had a SpinLash to give to each and everyone of you but sadly I only had three to give away but we always have next time right?

Congrats to our winners!

Summer Collection 2008: Bobbi Brown Bronzed Pink Collection

Guess what I got my hands on?

Some of Bobbi Brown's brand new Summer Collection entitled Bronzed Pink! Excited? I know I am.

My love affair with Bobbi Brown continues from the Spring into the Summer with this hot new collection!

I know, I know I've said I hate bronzers but I couldn't help but get curious about Bobbi's Bronzed Pink Collection. Seriously, just think about it, bronze and pink...a contradiction most gorgeous don't you agree?

Anytime I've ventured into the scary world of bronzers I've always had the yearning to spice up my bronzing experience with a dash of pink and lucky for me Bobbi thought the same exact thing when she created this collection!

I admit I wasn't brave enough to venture into actually purchasing the scary bronzing powders I seen with the collection but I did get the best of the lot of items introduced with two of the Metallic Eyeshadows and two of the Tinted Lip Balms and I'll be testing them out for you shortly!

I'm thinking these shadows and the lip balms are going to rock out really well with the new love of my life, Urban Decay Baked Bronzer.

The promo images are simply divine and the model is glowing with health and such a natural look that I'm dying to dupe!

Nordstrom Exclusive: Philosophy Green Apple

Ahhhh who doesn't love Nordie Exclusives! You know the type that come stamped with that big, bold "Nordstrom" Exclusive across it on the Nordie's site.

I get all hyper and teary eyed every time I see the words "exclusive". Hyper because I'm a diseased makeup junkie and teary eyed because I know how untrue the words "exclusive" really are (think Pink Lemonade from last Summer!).

Exclusive translates into "we have it now" but "they'll have it later" (example: Sephora, QVC, Etc...).

Anyway now that I had my rant on the magic word "exclusive" might I bring to your attention the Philosophy Green Apple Collection!

Nordstrom has a few interesting items available for your purchasing pleasure from Philosophy!

I was getting all 50 Cent on myself after reading about this new collection! Hey, I can't make this stuff up it says right in the description and I quote, "Take a trip to the Candy Shop..."...I can't help it if 50 Cent popped into my head!

Oh wait after watching this I realized he was definately not talking about candy....oops.....

Back to Philosophy....

Behold, Yummie goodies to please:

Philosophy Green Apple Gift Set $18 USD (Available separately as well! Gloss $10 USD and Three in One Body Wash $16 USD).

Philosophy Green Apple Body Scrub $25 USD

I was a tiny bit skeptical about this release and worried that maybe this would just smell like the original Red Apple Three in One but I'm happy to report it promises to have a sweet and sour scent. I'm thinking Jolly Rancher Sour Apple candy...whatcha think?

I think I needs it if it smells that good! I can't promise if it smells that great that I won't be chugging it from the bottle (I've been known to do stupid things on occasion)!

Yup....I feel a trip to Nordstrom coming on! Who's coming with?

Wanna indulge in Philosophy Green Apple?

Stila Kitten Silk Eye Shadow Wash and Kitten Silk Shimmer Gloss Review

Stila's bestselling, popular Kitten eyeshadow took on new and exciting forms this year for Summer.

A few weeks ago I blogged about one of Stila's Summer Collections which included a ton of "Kitten" themed goodies. I ended up hauling the entire collection and I'll be reviewing for you today the Kitten Silk Eyeshadow Wash and the Kitten Silk Shimmer Gloss. Later on this week I'll be reviewing the Kitten Eyeshadow palette so stay tuned for that!

Kitten is a universally flattering shade of shadow that works on all skin tones. It's a subdued, nude shimmering pink with golden undertones. Personally I find it to be a bit of a beige color. It's truly a lovely shade and packs plenty of sparkle and shimmer in it's power form however in the new cream version it fails by a mile to maintain the beautiful shimmering color I've fallen in love with.

Stila Eyeshadow in Kitten

The Kitten Family: Gloss, Shadow Wash, and Eyeshadow Powder

Stila's Kitten Silk Eyeshadow Wash is morphed into an entire new color for me. It does appear to be a similar shade to the powder but it looks a bit darker on and it's more of a metallic wet look than a fine shimmer.

The formula doesn't blend as well as I would like and it dries pretty quickly which means you have to work fast and apply enough product your first try or you'll be in trouble. If you're looking to layer after, I highly recommend not doing so as it makes a bit of a mess since the shadow dries so quickly it's basically like applying something wet onto something dry...think mud.

I can't pinpoint exactly why I wasn't loving this but I guess some of it accounts to the lack of shimmer, the problem with blending, and the fact that it's not exactly as gorgeous as my beloved Kitten Eyeshadow.

Here are two swatch photos of Kitten Shadow Wash versus Kitten Powder Eyeshadow. As you can see the wash is a tad bit darker than the powder! I must say that the wash looks quite a good deal shimmery on my arm than it does on my eye.

I had little success with the Kitten Silk Shimmer Gloss and was just as disappointed with it's performance as I was with the Stila Kitten Silk Eyeshadow Wash!

The gloss is absolutely stunning and appears to be packed with sparkle, shimmer, glitter, and shine. That's a big YAY for the Muse of course however the product isn't as nearly nice on as it appears in it's gorgeous packaging.

I was stunned upon applying this to have a very sheer layer of clear gloss with a tiny bit of sparkle instead of the gorgeous pink shimmer that was in the bottle and on the applicator. I thought for sure this would be amazing on my lips but its a complete miss for me.

The formula isn't so wonderful and has little staying power. It's not sticky or tacky which could account for the fact that it virtually slides right off after application. The color and shimmer you see doesn't come through once the product is on your lips so you're left with a rather natural glossy look that can be achieved with a far cheaper gloss.

If this was a bit more pigmented and packed some shimmer we'd have a solid gold winner on our hands to pair up with Kitten eyeshadow. Sadly, none of that applies to this gloss and it's a big disappointment for me.

I do have to rave about the cute packaging. I really dig the kitten script on the simple brown packaging! Really cutes! The palette features the same cute "Kitten" script! Loves it!

All in all these two particular items in the Stila Summer Collection haven't thrilled me but I have high hopes for the Kitten Eye Palette! It's simply gorgeous and packed full of beautiful shades for the Summer! My review is upcoming on it and I think it'll be a glowing one so stayed tuned!

In my FOTD today I'm wearing the Stila Kitten Silk Eye Shadow Wash, Kitten Silk Shimmer Gloss, and some Urban Decay Baked Bronzer!
