Bath & Body Works' New Fragrance Widget

Anyone try the new Bath & Body Works' New Fragrance Widget? What I'm a geeky I adore stupid stuff like this.

Basically it works like a quiz asking you questions and the likes and than it proceeds to customize the perfect fragrance for you.

Check out the deets after the jump and find out which fragrance it picked for me.

The application basically allows you to create a customizable fragrance profile in a few seconds and offers you the perfect scent selection that it believes you'll love. It chooses characteristics that you describe to help you find your ideal scent.

After fiddling around with it a few times it recommended me Bath and Body Works Signature Collection Mandarin Mango. Obviously it works as I adore fruity, sweet blends. Mandarin Mango isn't so much sweet as more fruity, the harsh edge from the mandarin gives it a slightly sour base which dominates much of the blend but the fruity base of mango also provides that juicy, sweet feeling to keep the fragrance light and fresh. Likey. It's funny as I'd probably past this up for my normal scent at BBW so this totally allows me to try something different that was recommended to me, cheers!

You can try the widget (or install it on your blog and the likes) by visiting www.bbwfindyourfragrance.com

Stop back tell me what it chooses for you!

Curious minds.

Donna Karan Cashmere Mist Turns 15

My sis is absolutely in lust with all things Donna Karan particularly Cashmere Mist. For the past several years Donna Karan Cashmere is her signature scent of choice. Recently, I found out that the scent is turning 15 years old. Gasp! Who knew?

DK created the signature scent out of love for the luxurious fabric because she adores it and designs with it, wears it, sleeps with it, and uses it all year round. The Muse can appreciate that feeling as cashmere is such a gorgeous, posh fabric and so positively soft on skin!

The scent itself is as comforting and soft as the fabric with a combination of sensual lily of the valley, vanilla, amber, and bergamot. The line itself is so popular (not only with my sister but everyone else on the planet) that the collection consists of twenty different products including shampoo.

Happy Birthday Cashmere Mist! Funny as my sister's birthday is in August too...how fitting!

Beauty Discovery: Arcana Perfume Oil Review

Long ago I introduced you to Black Phoenix Alchemist Lab and my slight obsession with the brand. I'm still quite in love with BPAL but I discovered Arcana a few years ago and it's since been as desirable as BPAL.

If you love perfume oils, Arcana will be a fab beauty discovery for you. Jump ahead to learn more.

Why perfume oil?

Perfume Oils are enriched with a heavy dose of fragrant oil making them stronger and long wearing. When blended correctly they allow for a greater throw and linger than regular perfume or toilettes. Oils are normally sold in 5-10ML bottles due to the nature of the product and expense. A little goes a long well so a smaller size will last you a very long time.

If you like a little bit of a Gothic romantic Victorian packaging Arcana perfume oils are sure to please. Housed in a small 5ml alchemist bottle with aged yellowing labels they look quite old worldly. Available in a variety of scents that are rotated constantly with limited edition scents these are truly little treasures that are easy to become addicted to.

I decided to do a Beauty Discovery on Arcana as I recently ordered a few new blends for my collection and also felt that so many people are probably missing out on the joys of perfume oil especially such unique blends as the ones Arcana creates.

Two delightful scents I hauled recently are Arcana Poison Candy Perfume and Underpinnings. At $14.95 per a 5ml bottle these are a tad more costly than the normal bottles which are $7.95. The uniquely high ingredient costs push the price a little higher but truly it's well worth it as the throw and linger on each is incredible.

Poison Candy comes housed in green alchemist bottle much like what...well...what poison might come in. With a aged yellow tag embellished with a creepy little coffin indeed ones does worry how poisonous this candy could be! But one sniff and you'll realize that poison never smelled so good. Ripe strawberries, rich cream, cinnamon, sugar, and honey make up a unique foody scent that smells quite like some sort of rich, decadent cake. Wonderful!

Velvet Underpinnings also priced high at $11.95 contains ingredients that are unique and high in cost but again well worthy of the extra few dollars as the scent lingers long and has great throw. Made up of chocolate, sweet cream, vanilla, sugars, spice, and everything nice, these Underpinnings are good enough to flaunt.

With a wide variety of fragrances available and an ever evolving catalog of limited edition fragrances, Arcana has my vote for a great way to indulge in small amounts of unique and interesting blends of fragrance.

Bath and Body Works Fragrant Waters Review

Whoa...anyone see the new Bath and Body Works Fragrant Waters? My sis and I were at BBW last Saturday morning and ran across a slew of new items one of which were these huge, super size elegant bottles of Bath and Body Fragrances.

Jump ahead for a peep!

These are incredible. 10oz size but they seem even bigger to me! Housed in a chunky, fun glass bottle each fragrance is $18.50 each and available in a variety of Bath and Body Works scents, new and old classics. These are rather ideal for Summer as they really bring to life the sparkling splash that Bath and Body is so well known for but in a quirky, clever packaging. I was pleasantly surprised that the scents last considerably longer than the normal body spray range and linger quite long.

Normal body splashes cost $12 and are 8oz in size so these aren't much bigger for the price but as I mentioned the scent seems to linger a good deal longer with a nice throw, could be they are using more fragrance oil in these. Quite nice really and pleasantly got me back into enjoying Bath and Body Works scents with this new style packaging.

Regular splash versus Fragrant Waters

If you're not willing to dish out for a large bottle you can indulge in the new Bath and Body Works Fragrant Waters Roller Balls. These are equally as cute and $7.50 won't break the bank. These are ideal for throwing in your purse for a quick roll on of your favorite BBW scent. Cutes!

The scents available in the splashes and roll ons are:
  • Wild HoneySuckle
  • Black Amethyst
  • Butterfly Flower
  • White Citrus
  • Japanese Cherry Blossom
  • Sweat Pea
  • Dancing Waters

I got mine in White Citrus, remember how I was all about the scent of White Citrus a few weeks ago? White Citrus is a fresh crispy citrus with lemon, orange and bergamot. Very refreshing and tart for the Summer weather!

With is super cute packaging I'm enjoying the reinvention of Bath and Body Works fragrances. Loves 'em! Although they have a Summer feeling about them I'm hopeful Bath and Body Works will embrace the line and continue releasing other scents in the Fragrant Waters line. I'd love to see some Fall blends!

Muse Approved for purchase!

Do check these out as they are worthy of a peep! Likey!

Anyone haul any?

Hot Summer Fragrance: Summer by Kenzo Eau de Parfume Review

Bring a little touch of sun to your fragrance with Summer by Kenzo Eau de Parfume. With notes of bergamot and citron this fragrance will surely please for daytime wear all through the Summer heat!

Jump ahead to hear the review!

The Muse finds many of Kenzo's blends a bit overly floral and quite powerful. My sister is a huge lover of all of Kenzo's blends and can't rave them enough however for myself some are a tad too strong. However, I recently found love with one of the Kenzo Eau de Fleur fragrances and now with Summer by Kenzo.

With a burst of warm, slightly sweet floral Summer by Kenzo is a sultry fragrance that captures the spirit of the season. Notes include bergamot and citron with a warm powder dry down and touches of amber, almond milk and mimosa. Summer by Kenzo is a complex warm blend that's sure to bring a touch of warmth to your Summer fragrance regime. The golden lines of it's leaf-shaped bottle is a sunny piece elegance for your vanity.

Capture the warmth and sizzle of the season with Summer By Kenzo, one of my favorite blends for Summer so far!

Worthy of a sniff!

Anyone try?

Loves It or Leaves It: Bath and Body Works Body Sprays

It's undeniable that Bath and Body Works has a huge selection of body fragrance that fits every budget. Ranging from $8-$10 bucks for a large size of body spray is a deal and a half for shiz!

As Summer approaches I'm sure Bath and Body Works Body Sprays may top your list of fragrance must haves!

Bath and Body Works Body Sprays Loves It or Leaves It for you?

Click ahead for my view!

At one point I was a chronic collector of Bath and Body Works Body Sprays. Honestly, they are so dirt cheap it's rather nice having a large selection of fragrances to choose from. However, over the years the formula seems to not be as strong as it once was so I'm kinda at the leaves it stage in life. I definitely still have a fair bit of love for them but I'm always rather picky which ones I haul. I normally wait for special ones to release such as the Temptation Collection ones and Hello Sugar. I find the LE items which are rarely released lately are the most special when compared to other standard items that are always on offer.

Although I lean towards Leaves It! I tend to also lean towards Loves It as well depending on the scent and my mood!

How about you?

Leaves it?

mark Mists Juicy Body Fragrance

Oooo I want the new mark Mists Juicy Body Fragrances! They look darling!

Jump for the deets!

Juicy Peach, Luscious Mango, Tangerine Squeeze, and Very Watermelon sound absolutely heavenly in a body mist! I'm such a fan of fruity fragrances in the Summer and these sound just the thing.

The catch?

They are $10 bucks each and only 3.2 oz in size.

Mark what in the world are you thinking? You guys are known for fun, inexpensive beauty finds. Why such a high price tag guys!?

For this price I can go to Victoria's Secret or Bath and Body Works and get triple the size for less!

Loves 'em but will skip on that price tag!

Clean, Fresh Summer Fragrance: Estee Lauder Pure White Linen Coral Review

My sister is a real fan of clean scents. Cotton, linen, etc....really appeal to her. I can't really say the same as I'm more of a sweet, fruity type myself. Recently, I tested out Estee Lauder Pure White Linen Coral and was pleasantly surprised at what a fresh, clean scent it was.

Click it for the review.

Although fruity blends speak to me in the Summer I admit that the freshness and gentleness of Estee Lauder Pure White Linen Coral seems an ideal scent for warmer, humid weather. The fragrance has a certain contradiction of complexity and simplicity. With notes of Chinese Berry, Pink Peppercorns, Apple Blossoms, Waterfruits, and Cear Aldehydes it combines to create a fresh, floral, crisp, clean scent that's sure to please anyone who can appreciate a softer fragrance.

Linen does come to mind when it hits my nose first spray. Inviting and soft like a towel from the dryer. Drown down is more of a crisp, floral that still manages to remain fresh with an every so slight sweetness.

Truly Estee Lauder Pure White Linen Pink Coral is something special. I'm really enjoying this one for warm Summer evenings.

Beautiful, simply beautiful.

Who might like this?
  • Anyone who adores very fresh, clean scents.
  • Anyone who enjoys a lighter scent for the warmer weather.
  • Anyone who adores scents that are both fresh and floral.

Anyone smell this yet or buy?

Tell the Muse!
