Jelly Pong Pong Nicola Roberts Dainty Doll Concealer Review

Ahhh concealer round up continues today with a concealer from across the pond!

Chances are if you're not living in the UK or up to date on your British Pop Culture you don't know who Nichola Roberts is.

Nicola Roberts is a member of the girl band Girls Aloud and now a creator of her own makeup line. Jelly Pong Pong released the collection from Nichola Roberts in April and it sold out pretty quickly online which accounts for why I never nabbed some for myself. By the time I did get a chance to look through the collection it was sold out completely. However, the good news is ASOS still sells all of the collection (They ship worldwide btw).







After much debate with myself I decided to order the concealer and a few other items. I was highly doubtful I should order any of it since the collection is geared towards fair, pale, and milky completions. Since I'm so obsessed with lighter products and whiter skin I decided I'd give the concealer a shot.



I really wanted to love this. It sported cute packaging, came in a similar style jar as my beloved Benefit Boi-ing, looked moist and creamy, plus the price wasn't too bad at £8.00.

I made my first mistake when I ordered the lightest shade which was fair. It comes in fair and natural and I'm thinking natural might have been better suited to my skin. Although fair worked ok it was just a bit too light. I was hopeful that lightness would brighten my eye area up but all it did was make me look unnatural. The product is pigmented enough to cover blue or darker circles on fair skin and will offer some brightening benefits for a shade or two lighter than fair.

I made my second mistake when I assumed this would be moist and creamy. It's not either sadly. The texture is very hard which makes blending extremely difficult even after warming the concealer on the back of my hand. The worst part is how it creased into my fine lines and actually dried my eye area out even worst than it already is! Eep!

I don't want to give this a complete poor review because I believe that it can be extremely good for a few select people. Younger girls can definately benefit from this if you're eye area is woe free (example: fine lines, moist skin, etc...) and I also think it's ideal for pale, creamy complexions. It has to be thee most flattering shade I've seen on the market for a fair complexion. Finding the right shade of foundation, concealer, etc..when you have very fair skin comes with drama so the idea behind this entire line is simply awesome for those of you lucky enough to have a gorgeous, milky complexion.

Who this might be good for:

• Fairer Skin
• Younger Skin
• Line Free Skin
• Normal Skin that's not dry

Those who should avoid it:

• Older Skin
• Finely Lined Skin
• Dry Skin

It had it's strong points and I think it could possibly be a Muse Approval if I fit the criteria of being younger, less lines, no dry skin, etc....

However, since I'm 30, sport some fine lines, and have a dry under eye area it simply did not work for me.

I'm quite disappointed as I really wanted to love! Stay Tuned Next Week when I review the Dainty Doll Foundation! Maybe that'll be good!? We shall see!

Urban Decay Lipstick Review

Urban Decay hasn't had lipstick for a very long time and now relaunches with 22 shades for Fall 2008. They went right ahead and did it big time baby!









I can't begin to tell you how exciting it was getting four of these bad boys to test out and review for you. They are simply thee most gorgeous lippies around at the moment as far as the Muse is concerned!

Let's focus on the awesome packaging first. Each shade of lipstick is housed in a large, heavy container with two-toned light and dark purple swirls decorating the outer lid with a goth mini dagger handle on top. The casing of the lipstick tube is a shiny metallic purple that contrasts beautifully with the swirly lid. If that wasn't enough of a presentation Urban Decay went an extra mile and embedded each lipstick with Urban Decay and a tiny dagger. The entire packaging creates not only a posh feel to each lipstick but also holds an edge of dark and dangerous! Just how the Muse likes her lipstick! Dark, edgy, dangerous, and most importantly posh!











Now I read a review recently that said the formula was horribly gritty due to the mass amount of glitter in the lipstick and that's not completely true. Depending on the color you choose the amount of glitter may be more or less! It also deserves to be mentioned that even if the color is overdosing on heavy shimmer and glitter the texture was in no way gritty. I felt like each color I tried had a wonderfully moisturizing, melty formula that simply glided onto my lips leaving behind beautifully pigmented popping color!

I'm completely serious when I say I want every single color for my very own (After all I do own every single shadow Urban Decay has put out thus far)! Go ahead and try to stop me from buying all these for my collection! I'm completely in lust and love with these.

Strangely enough I have also read that the lipsticks had an overpowering smell and taste but I didn't notice either. I did notice a tiny faint perfumed cherry taste to some of the colors where as others had no taste at all.

The shades I tried out were 5150, Voodoo, Gravity, and Hotpants. Out of those four I wasn't loving Hotpants. Hotpants is a heavy duty frost and I just couldn't love it since it made my face look full and very round (as if it isn't all those things already right? yak!).

The other three shades fit me perfectly and were very deep and perfect for fall! 5150 was my favorite. It's advertised as a coral but I felt like it was a cherry shade! It looks beautiful paired up with pink shadow!

The other two shades that completely captured my heart were Voodoo and Gravity both of which were really deep shades that are completely flattering for the Fall. Voodoo is a deep, dark pink that almost looks maroon where as Gravity is a rich red.

Here are some swatches of each shade! As you can see 5150 does look kinda Coral like in my swatch however it comes out very cherry red on my lips!



Here are some pictures of a MAC lipstick side by side with the new Urban Decay lipstick! You can't tell all that much but the Urban Decay dwarfs the MAC lipstick! It's alot heavier as well due to the posh packaging of the Urban Decay lipsticks!







I'm slapping the coveted Muse Approval on these new lipsticks from Urban Decay! They sport beautiful packaging, a gorgeous pigmented, moisturizing formula, and just that little goth dagger alone makes it worth a purchase!

Majolica Majorca Fall Collection 2008: Majolook Trick On Palette Review

Majolica Majorca introduced it's Trick On Palettes in Spring 2008. They have since extended the line to include two new colors for the Fall 2008.



The two newest shades are Gr750 and BR751. Both are general catalog and not limited edition as far as I know. The Trick On Palettes are quite nice and I gave them a good review when they first appeared on the scene in the Spring however I'm not feeling the color variations for the Fall in all honesty.

It's simply the same old stuff released again and again and again! if I put together all my Majolook Line Impact palettes, last season's Trick On palettes, plus my Majolook Illuminator palettes I could probably easily make up all four shades in the newest color selections.





I collect all the Majolook palettes released which accounts for me purchasing GR750 and BR751 but in my humblest opinion you just don't need either unless you're a serious collector and like having each release from Majolica Majorca.

Neither palette contains pop of any kind so this isn't a sizzling eye look you'll be creating. Each palette consists of two shadow colors, one liner shade, and a "Trick On" shimmering powder. Although the shades are very Fall-like in color I just felt like they were a bit boring and as I mentioned very easy to dupe from past palettes. For instance GR750 contains shades very similiar to BR762 from the Majolook Illuminator Palette.

GR750 contains a highlighting shade in a light beige brown shade combined with a khaki green for your lid. The liner shade is a deep dark teal green and the "trick on" powder is a shimmering gold.

Although the beige brown contrasts nicely with the khaki green I felt like the teal liner created an unusual look to my eyes and layering the "trick on" shimmering powder on top of the khaki green really made a mess considering it was a lighter gold shade.

It is note worthy to mention that the all the shades are nicely pigmented in particular the khaki green and each sports that unusual creamy powder formula that most Japanese eye shadows are known for.

BR751 contains a highlighting shade in gold and a taupe color for the lid which is followed by a chocolate brown liner shade and finally a pale pink shimmer makes up the "trick on" powder. Again, a rather boring array of colors sadly. This time I felt like the taupe and gold were completely mismatched as well and in particular the liner shade just doesn't go with the base lid color. This seems to be such an unusual and weird cocktail of colors.

Sigh.

I do have one major rave for each palette and that would be pigmentation and ease of blending. The formula on the Trick On palettes seems very different compared to previous variations of the Majolook palettes and I find they are quite nicely pigmented and they blend very well! Yes, you do have to layer quite a bit to get good color payoff with other Majolook palettes but I felt like two strokes of color or even one with the Trick On palettes was all you needed to create a nice deep color on the lid.

All in all I was pretty disappointed with these. If you're a big collector of MJ palettes you'll want to add them to your collection but if you're purchasing them simply for color selection alone it's safe to skip both palettes in my humblest opinion. I felt like both selections made my eyes look tired, boring, and blah.

Oh well!

Yak! It's almost 3 am and the Muse has to be up and awake very soon but she just couldn't resist telling you all about Benefit's new Powderflage!



Although I originally wasn't loving Laura Mercier's Secret Brightening Powder I've kinda made my peace with it and I find I reach for it daily which is why I got hyper and excited about Benefit Powderflage!

Now....I must say that I think a pale pink powder will work much better than the ghostly white LM Secret Brightening Powder sports!



Hey Muse, what is this stuff anyway?

If you're unfamiliar with Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder you may be wondering what it is and what Powderflage is! Allow your Muse to explain!

Powderflage promises to brighten dark circles and fine lines by dusting on this pale pink powder and taking you from the 2 hours of sleep effect aka how the Muse will feel in a bit when it's time to wake up and transforming it into 12 hours of fresh, well rested! Brighten your eye area, conceal your dark circles, and make a more beautiful you with a quick sweep of a brush!

Now Laura Mercier's powder doesn't quite promise that. You're supposed to use it in conjunction with your concealer. I will definately try out Powderflage as a concealer but I doubt I can trust a mere powder to conceal my wicked bad dark circles so I'll probably be concealing with liquid or cream and applying Powderflage ontop for extra brightening! But hey, who knows this could be the miracle product we seek! Benefit's been known to put out a miracle product here and there that I can't live without!

We shall see!

A review comes soon of course as the Muse needs to be the first kid on the block to own this little bad boy!

Lancome Maquicomplet Complete Coverage Concealer Review

Oh yea baby daily concealer post time!

I know, I know you've been waiting ALL day for this little entry haven't you? I fear I'm boring you with my spotlight on concealers lately but hopefully you've found at least one out of the batch I've reviewed so far that works for you!

Today I'm reviewing Lancome's Maquicomplet Complete Coverage Concealer. That rolls right off the tongue doesn't it? Is it bad to admit I have no idea how to properly pronounce Maquicomplet?





I noticed that I never really review concealer in the proper light. I don't use concealer to cover pimples or problem skin. I'm too bloody old for acne and I don't have anything that needs covering that my foundation doesn't already do. I'm kinda disappointed in myself because I should really review it from all angles. But I only use concealer for under eye coverage plus even if I have a pimple pop up I think layering concealer or foundation on top of it is rather gross and causes me to break out further! Yak!

Anyway!

Apologies for never properly giving you the deets on covering up pimples or problem skin with concealer!



However, Lancome Maquicomplet Complete Coverage Concealer does a mighty nice job of concealing my dark circles and extra baggage! Maquitcomplet comes in nine shades that pretty much suit all skin tones and while carrying the correct tints to neutralize problems like dark circles. For instance I have the most lightest shade available which has a perfect yellow base to conceal my dark circles.





The packaging is a wand style applicator which for me is just as great as a click pen. Smoothing and blending this on is simple and mess free with the provided sponge tip applicator. Stroke on, pat into place, and your dark circles are gone. The product is pigmented enough to conceal dark circles perfectly however my baggy eyes weren't as fresh looking as I'd have liked after use but I still find the product offers excellent coverage for dark circles. The formula is a thin liquid however it is creamy and quite moisturizing. I had no problems with creasing under my eyes after blending and wear lasted for at least six hours before I needed to touch up.

The price might scare you at $27.50 USD however if you're lemming this after my review you can head on over to Bergdorf Goodman and indulge in a gift with purchase!
