New Resolutions 2009

I hope everyone is having a Happy New Year so far! It's probably going to be a rough year ahead for the world but hopefully we'll all come out of it smiling. I like to make resolutions for the New Year but like everyone I don't always stick to 'em but I definitely try and a majority of the time I normally stick to around 70-80% of the list I make out for myself! So I don't have too bad a track record when it comes my resolutions for the year!

I'm a little late with this but read ahead to hear what I resolve to do for the upcoming year!

Get Organized, Scale Back, Only Buy What I'll Use

Whoa did you read those three statements? I must be nuts! Especially that scale back part!

Fact of the matter is I noticed I've accumulated a ton of cosmetics since blogging. Granted I've always had a load of cosmetics even before that but after blogging this past year it's been a bit nutty to say the least. I'd really like to only buy what I know I'll use or items that are unique. This basically means that just because MAC has introduced a new aqua eyeshadow I do NOT need to add it to the 50 plus aqua shadows I already have. It's hard to admit how ridiculous I am sometimes but ridiculous it is. I just want to control my cosmetic urges a bit better just because the aqua eyeshadow is LE does not mean I need it considering I have the same shade in another shadow that laid claim to being LE as well. It's insanity I tell you! This year I'm going to try to approach cosmetics with a choosy and careful attitude. Pick what I know I'll use, don't be swayed by LE's, think before I buy, take note what I already have and don't dupe it "just because", and finally try to go for unique items and avoid the rest.

I'm an organized freak by nature and everything in my house from books, to clothes, to shoes, makeup, and dvds are all organized to perfection. I like my belongings to be in perfect condition and to be organized in a neat, tidy fashion (can't say the same for my desk at my office). My makeup collection is organized perfectly and I know just where everything is however I have too many boxes, small organized, cabinets, etc....everything is spaced out and I hate that. This year I'm aiming to buy a few draws or cabinets or something and put my ENTIRE collection into that one spot. I hate having a hundred of different organizers...I just want one maybe two at the most that has a slew of draws where I can organize individual items and just keep everything together in a neat, tidy, and small space.

I'd really like to scale back my collection this year as well. I haven't been through it in a few months because I've been so busy but I want to get through it and see what I don't need/want/or hasn't been used and just swap it away or sell or donate it to friends. It's silly to have a slew of items that are not being used when I can use them as swap bait or any number of the other things I mentioned. I really aim to scale back some of what I own this year and maybe make room for all the "unique items" I'll be buying (hehe I made a funny there!).

More Me Time

This one probably sounds shallow but I actually don't have enough "me" time. I'd love some free time during the week or the weekend without my friends. I'm always with them.....feels like 24/7...and I'm missing out on some quality time doing things that I love doing such as reading (I'm a big geek for books), watching TV shows (I have dozens of shows piled on my Tivo), gaming, and just chilling out a little bit. I simply adore all my mates but going to dinner every night, shopping, hanging out, etc...every single day gets a bit much. I'd love to make some time for me and I aim to do that this year.

Weekends with the Muse

You might have noticed from Friday Afternoon all the way to Monday morning you don't get a single Muse from me. This is because I'm extremely busy on the weekend doing this, that and the other thing. My weekends are packed with activity and I just have no time to blog. This weekend I did quite a few posts and I felt good about it so this year I aim to use the schedule feature on blogger and have posts written up during the week that I'll schedule to post on the weekend. I'd really like to dedicate some extra time to do these posts during the week so they'll be ready for Friday, Saturday and Sunday postings when I'm away.

E-mail

Oh e-mail....the bane of my existent. I know it'll never happen but I pray daily that one day I'll catch up with all the e-mail this site generates. I love you all so much and I'd love to be able to answer every single e-mail you send me but if I took time out to write each person back everyday I'd honesty have no time to post anything on this blog...I'd just be emailing people. First off if you ever wrote me an e-mail and never got a reply...I apologize....The site generates ridiculous amounts of e-mail daily and I can't keep up. I'm so sorry. I hope to someday get a better system and get organized and to finally answer all the e-mails that await me...but for now do be patient. This year I hope I'll get more of a handle on my inbox and start clearing it out. I know a few people e-mail me for cps and get me this, get me that...and again I'd love to run around town and shop for all of you but sometimes I just don't have the time. I do offer out of the kindness of my heart but a majority of the time I can't always fulfill the request...I'm deeply sorry about that. If you need me for any reason the best way to contact me is leave a comment or twitter me! You'll get a way faster reply ;) Promise.

I guess that's pretty much the extent of what I resolve to do this year! I've already made a good solid effort

Pieces of Life: The Twilight DVD Edition

Hello kids.

Welcome to Pieces of Life: The Twilight DVD Edition.

Did I totally hear some of you start to scream and cry? I did right? The Muse is fond of musing about our friend Edward so of course she had to muse a little about the release of Twilight on DVD today and alert you all that it's coming to a DVD near you on March 21st!

Get our your Eau de Edward and your Mrs Cullen T-Shirts and brace yourself for a re-watch of Twilight in the comfort of your own home.

The Muse happens to be a purist and she will say, possibly to your horror, that I hated the movie with a passion. Robert Pattinson? Well hello gorgeous I'd do you (Side Note: I wasn't thinking that after I heard he hadn't washed his hair in a few weeks ewww)! But honestly, let's be honest ok? Honestly, aside from the one scene with saliva exchange between Robert and Kristen there was absolutely none of the chemistry, none of the passion, none of the emotion that the books detailed so beautifully. I can debate and rant this bloody topic all day with you but I shall say no more.

The important moral of this story is Twilight is available on DVD as of March 21st and of course yours truly will be buying it and rewatching it just in case it was good...one never knows as the Muse seen it on the first day it released and sat between many a screaming and squealing teenage girl..wait..that was my mate Jai who was squealing sorry about that...who knows maybe it was good and all the squealing took away from award winning performances...but I'm not counting on it!

Go ahead...

Rave it or rant it!

My comment box is your comment box!

PS the Muse is, as always, a Team Edward player! Go Team Edward!

Hello Kitty Diamonique @ QVC

How very un-cosmetic of the Muse but today she's highly interested in scoring some Hello Kitty Diamonique @ QVC! I have a serious addiction to collecting Hello Kitty themed jewelry...necklaces, earrings, watches, you name it the Muse probably owns it with Hello Kitty's mug on it!

At one time it was pretty difficult to get nice jewelry featuring Hello Kitty within the US so I was an offshore collector nabbing things from different parts of Asia, particularly Japan.

It's gotten considerably less harder to get some great themed products here in the US and even Sanrio has finally expanded it's line to include some fairly nice Hello Kitty jewelry items!

When I heard QVC was doing a presentation of Hello Kitty Jewelry, well, you can imagine how excited I was!

Check out why below!

Jumping on the coat tails of MAC's Hello Kitty release I'm sure it'll be a Spring of Hello Kitty releases and QVC just happens to have a line up of Hello Kitty items from it's popular "Diamonique " line.

Nothing got up and grabbed me after I looked through some of the collection but I did end up nailing the QVC "Today's Special" and a few other bits and bobs I'll share with you in a sec.

The today's special is a Hello Kitty Zodiac Pendant for $86 USD and some change. I thought it was darling so I picked it up in my sign. It's available in all the zodiac signs and comes with a chain so I thought it was well worth the price.

I also snagged the Hello Kitty Diamonique High Polished "Kitty ID Tag" Pendant for $56 bucks which also includes the a chain. I thought this was a bit different from other pieces I collected and quite cute.

And finally I got the Hello Kitty Diamonique Sterling Princess Kitty Pendant which was $96. This was quite a unique piece as well and I thought the price wasn't bad considering it comes with the chain as well.

They had some super cute items and I think I nabbed the most interesting and unique in the collection. It's worth checking out if you're a big Hello Kitty Fan!

You can check the entire collection at Hello Kitty Diamonique.

I guess Hello Kitty will be ruling the Spring scene! I look forward to see what else popped theme wit her Hello Kittyiness!

Pieces of Life: The Gossip Girl Edition

I only got the chance to watch the first five minutes of Gossip Girl this week since the Muse has been very, very, very, alot busy but did you check out who's starring as Chuck Bass's uncle?

Well, hello gorgeous!

Muse, who is this love muffin you speak of?

Tis my future husband Desmond Harrington of course!

Desmond played Joey Quinn in this season of Dexter and did a brilliant job of it might I add. Now the Muse normally doesn't fall for manly men such as Desmond but she must say that his accent sends shivers down her little spine. Desmond was born in Georgia but grew up in the Bronx and that boy has the accent to prove it. Loves it! I don't think I've seen him in a role where he's fully dropped his accent so it's always rather fetching to watch him work. Growing up in New York I have a deal for the accents around these parts...hells you should hear my friend Marc his accent is harder and rougher than Desmond's!

And hello now he's playing Chuck's uncle on Gossip Girl? The Muse is totally thrilled. Holy Hotness Batman! I sure hope that they keep him on Dexter next season as well because although he wasn't cast in the most brilliant light the Muse just enjoys the extra eye candy on the show! Yums! I think they'll set him up with Lily on Gossip Girl but from what I have seen...was he flirting with Blair in that first scene? This could get dangerous!

Desmond is Muse Approved by all means possible teehee!

Love him?

Tell me!

The Regeneration of a Most Beloved Doctor

I find it funny that my inbox has over 100 e-mails in it that are labeled "Doctor Who" in subject. I also got a few comments already as well in regards...to yes you guessed it...the new Doctor.

With all these outcries to the Muse I thought that indeed the good Doctor deserved his very own post because honestly, the regeneration of our beloved 10th deserves that at the very least right?

I fear that I haven't felt this badly about a regeneration since my fond favorite fourth Doctor, the great Tom Baker, regenerated into Peter Davidson. For a long time I resented Peter for taking away my girlhood crush, Tom Baker but I slowly came to love him.

So the Muse has a basic statement to release on the casting of the 11th Doctor.

Don't Panic.

Yes, that's it. Don't Panic. Be a good hitchhiker and just don't panic. If you're a Who fan you've felt this way for every regeneration of every favorite Who in the last 30 years or more. We've all seen our favorites come and go. We've all mourned our favorites. I remember mourning Tom Baker, Peter Davidson, I even felt some remorse for the late, great William Hartnell. Believe it or not I became mighty attached to Christopher Eccleston as well and I thought it was god awful they were replacing him with David Tennant. Weird right?

We have something to look forward to right? Our Doctor's personality will stay the same but with new traits and quirks. Yes, Matt Smith is virtually a no name but if you think about it David Tennant wasn't exactly HUGE in the way of stardom either was he? At the moment Matt Smith (kinda ironic his last name is Smith...as in John Smith...) probably isn't our top pick for the Doctor but he's young, he's fairly good looking, and who knows (who knows..pun intended) he may be the next best thing to David.

I think we should all remain calm and hope for the best. I have confidence that the writers will bring us a fantastic Doctor and although I mourn the loss of David I do embrace the idea of a brand new Doctor. I think David shows alot of class to pass the torch and not milk the "brand" that Doctor Who has become for all it's worth. I think he recognized the fact that things can get old really fast and he wanted to be remembered as a great Doctor rather than a washed up Doctor. So cheers to David for making a hard choice to disembark the Tardis and make room for a new Doctor.

Chin up Who fans! We'll be fine. We should be more worried over the fact that Catherine Zeta Jones might board the Tardis next season....now THAT worries me! You do know that she and the hub come as a package?

Wince!

There, there now. Group hug!

Alan Cumming: Simply Brilliant!

Warning:

Random babblings that have nothing to do with cosmetics ahead!

I'm a PBS geek (or maybe I'm just an Anglophile. I haven't decided yet!).

I know can you believe I admitted it out loud? I'm the little short, round girl that strolls down Madison Avenue toting a PBS tote bag like it's a Fendi.

And proud of myself by the very way!

For 200 years now, give or take a few years, Mystery! has had the wonderfully macabre Edward Gorey introduction. I heart Edward Gorey so I've always appreciated the fine animated introduction of Mystery!

However, recently things have been a brewing at PBS! Change isn't always my most favorite thing in the world and no I don't embrace it. You embrace it if you like it so much! I'll stick with the things I know thanks very much!

One such change that is unforgivable to the Muse would be the revamp, rename, and re-host of my very favorite program on PBS, Masterpiece Theater.

Masterpiece Theater has undergone not only a name change but also a host change and all this other crap I'm not loving.

Gillian Anderson is suddenly the host of Masterpiece Theater...oh sorry...it's called Masterpiece Classic now. Granted, the content is still very much the same but I can do without Gillian Anderson. Sheesh, couldn't we find a Brit to do the introduction? Hells, I'd have settled for Madonna with a fake British accent instead of Agent Scully!

Look at her hair! It clashes with the bloody back drop! Please can it be real British host time now? The Muse simply demands it!

Sadly, even though I donate gobs of spare cash to PBS they refused to listen to my demands for a new host and I'm somehow stuck now fast forwarding through the bad introduction of Masterpiece each week and hiding my checkbook as I refuse to donate money to them until they lynch Gillian! Sorry!

Le sigh!

However, this week PBS more than made up with it when they revamped my second favorite show Mystery! with a new host and a new introduction!

Alan Cumming has made his debut as a fine host of Mystery! The Muse is not worthy of the awesomeness of Alan Cumming being so brilliant at introducing Mystery!

I lust after Alan Cumming in a major way and I couldn't be happier that PBS has heard my agonizing cries of mercy and provided me with at the very least an awesome host for Mystery! It's the least they could do after making me suffer through the badness that is Gillian Anderson.

On a side note check out Billie Piper making the cross over from Masterpiece Classic to Masterpiece Mystery! Obviously, life after Doctor Who and Diary of a Call Girl were simply not enough! Go Billie Go!

Ok I guess I'm appeased now! Happiness is gagging over Alan Cumming's fine, dapper introduction on Mystery! Well done!

I've been a patron member for about 8 years or so now so if you'd like to donate proceeds of your cosmetic funds to PBS do have a click over!

Sometimes it's not always about make up! ;)

I'm Catching Up on E-mails and Comments....Sort of....!

Happy Monday guys!

Just a quick note to say I'm slowly catching up on comments and e-mails (the e-mail process is ALOT slower than the comment process so please be patient with me)! I got some great comments to reply to in my "Tagged" post and I've been a bit remiss getting to them as I've been swamped with work and with life!

But I'm slowly getting to them all!

Just wanted to touch base and let you know I'm not ignoring you!

Hope your Monday is going well!

Cheers!

Non Cosmetic Babblings About the Brit Awards 2008

After a bit of a wait the US was treated to the Brit Awards a few weeks ago on BBC America. The original showing was about over a month ago British side I believe and I finally got to sit down and see it for myself rather then go through youTube clips, blogs, etc....

I always appreciate Brit Award shows far more then I do the US ones. I found the Brits really hang loose where as we are so commercial and Hollywood US side the Brits just sorta sit back, kick back the liquor, get loud and enjoy themselves. Not likely in the US Award ceremonies. The UK always remind me of a buncha drunk folk in a pub lushing it up. I don't normally even like Award shows but if it's British I'm all over it like white on rice!

The awards were hosted by none other then the Prince of Darkness and his family. I freaking love watching the Osbournes in action. It's like a trainwreck, you just can't take your eyes off, particularly Sharon. I love Ozzy and I love Black Sabbath and watching Ozzy age before my very eyes has always taken a little bit of getting used too!

Ozzy was fine, Jack was fine, Kelly was fine, but I couldn't figure out if Sharon was high, drunk, or just being a show off in general. I go with being a show off. She's one for flashing herself around and acting all hot in the pan. She was really, really irritating. I normally find her ok to deal with but last night I felt like slapping her upside the head.

I must say that the amount of weight that Jack and Kelly have taken off is amazing and they really look very healthy and beautiful. Not that they weren't before but they just look very cleaned up and mature. A big improvement over the old Kelly and Jack for sure.

The strangest part of the entire night was when Sir Ian McKellen got up to present and proceeded to say, "If you're wondering (and I was wondering) what I'm doing at the Brits, I'm here to meet MIKA!"

At this point I gulped my tea the wrong way and spurted it back out at the TV. Wow. Way to out a guy Ian! I love me some Ian but this might be a bit too much considering how private Mika is about his sexuality and which side he's pitching for. I imagine at this point the poor guy crawled under his table and prayed for death!

The Muse's favorite Doctor made his special appearance at the awards and general drool, panting, and such occurred as he walked on stage to present. David has a knack for swinging around the court in a manly manner or last night in this particular case he displayed his metrosexual sense of flair and style with a close fitting jacket and a ultra cute t-shirt with a star emblem. We love you David, you're a god. He presented the award to Kylie whom walked right into David's arms as I stared daggers at the screen. I felt a bit of chemistry there...hmm the girlfriend is going to be jealous David you cheeky little monkey! I almost threw the TV out the window at this point since I was gagging so hard watching Kylie's little botox arse hug David so hard but I realized I had a good hour left of the show so best keep the telly sitting where it was!

Amy Winehouse was surprisely sober during all this fanfare or at least she looked slightly sober. Her voice, as always, was beautiful. Her hair was in some decent sort of order, decent for Amy anyway. I suspect she took a few downers in the back prior to going on stage because damn she was very mellow. I almost didn't recognize the "unwired" Amy!

Rihanna was looking beautiful as always! I can totally understand why this chick's legs are insured for a million bucks!

Oh Lord I'm embarrassed for Sharon!

I think the major highlight of the night was the brief 20 seconds that Jonathan Rhys Meyers hopped on stage to present. He was looking smoking HOT! We aren't exposed to enough JR here in the states. Please can it be Jonathan Rhys Meyers time all the time? Thanks the Muse appreciates it!

We know why you like his album Jonathan!

I was also loving the
Arctic Monkeys! They looked sweet as pie in my humblest! That could be a bias opinion as I love them so much!

All in all an interesting night of beautiful brits!

Did you see it?

It should be available on youTube by now!

Do share if you watched!

Lee Jun Ki or Shin Sung Woo?

Ok I need some help.

I'm debating with myself on ordering two DVD's so I thought I'd ask you lovely ladies to see if you've seen them yet.

First one is Virgin Snow.

I heart Lee Jun Ki in a major way. He's so bloody cute and all that emo crying in My Girl just makes me want him more! I really should feel like biatch slapping him after all that sniffling but it just made me sit there with a box of tissues while yelling at the telly screen "Pick me damnit! Pick me!"

I admit the fact that the cover art displays his hair all chopped off is slightly turning me off but he did look kinda sorta hot with it cut short in Time Between Dog and Wolf BUT even though it was short it still had the fem edge too it. Seriously obviously Lee Jun Ki is hot because he got a major
bishōnen vibe going on. Don't even deny you don't think he's hot because of that! I'll call your lie out if you do!

The Muse no likey short hair!

Ahhh much better! The Muse likey alot! Why oh why did he chop it all off?

Anyway!

Who's seen Virgin Snow? And is it worth buying?

Second on my list is Country Princess.

Obvious reasons why I want this. Shin Sung Woo.

But I dunno I'm not so into the story line!? Seems to typically K-Drama for me.

Anyone see it?

Comment box is open! I could sure use the recommendations as I don't wanna splurge out $70 for a new K-Drama that's going to put me to sleep and as for Virgin Snow it's not so expensive but I'm in high debate if I want it. I could always turn the volume off and just stare at the screen drooling but then it'd cost me $20 to do that!

So give me recs!

Thank ye!

The Muse loves you with all her heart!

PS JUST THESE TWO! Please don't hang out in my comment box being evil and recommending me K-Drama's left and right otherwise I won't likes you any more! You know how I am when it comes to this stuff and if you start rec'ing me titles I'm going to end up with a cart full of 24 episode Korean Dramas! Be nice to the Muse she hasn't even watched the last one's you recommended her!

I'm kidding of course ;) I love when you guys rec me stuff but be gentle as I'm picturing the comments flying now about what I should or shouldn't be watching and my cart getting bigger and bigger and bigger as I trust your opinions on this serious, serious matter hehe!

Spring Cleaning Updates

Good Morning Lovies!

Happy Monday!

You may (or may not) have noticed that Musings has undergone a few minor changes. One important change for me was having a new domain name setup. You can now find Musings of a Muse at it's new address, www.musingsofamuse.com!

Yay! Exciting! If you by chance link me on your site if you could please as a personal favor to me update your link to reflect the change I'd be extremely grateful!

Secondly, you'll notice my layout changed a tiny bit. I felt like my three columns were a bit cluttered so I now have a column on the left and a column on the right and finally my posts are smack in the middle!

Thirdly, I've added a cbox off to the right hand side of my column which you can use to comment randomly or just to say hey!

I have a few ads up as well! If you find these irritating do let me know and I'll try to come up with something else as I never want Musings to be about "commercial" or "corporate". That's not my aim with Musings at all so if you feel overwhelmed by ads you should tell me and I'll do everything I can to reduce the clutter so you can have the content you come here for!

I've temporarily moved my live chat room. I know it's been ages since I held a live chat but I promise I'll be adding it up soon and having a live chat :)

A few items that are upcoming as you know are the Musings forum and some podcasts as well!

That's about it!

I hope you're as excited as I am about the changes! Maybe they'll make your life a bit easier too when browsing around here as I believe it's better organized now!

Much Love and Hugs,

From your Muse.

Happy Easter from the Muse!

I can't believe it's Easter this Sunday!

Didn't that go fast?

I don't know if I entirely like that Daylight Savings began 2 years earlier then it did last year and Easter is here 12 months in advance.

I'm kidding.

But seriously I kinda like the Winter and I'm somewhat sad to see it go so quickly! In all seriousness does the fact that Daylight Savings coming early REALLY help you to be more "green"?

I'm still switching lights on left and right so all this extra daylight is definately not saving me money on my electric bill (or helping me conserve much energy for that matter). Bad Muse Bad!

Either way.....this post isn't about conserving energy but more about wishing you a very Happy Easter Sunday! I hope you're spending it with those near and dear to you be it friends or family!

I'm not a very religious person but my parents are and I try to be as "religious" as I can be for them (bloody hell I went to an all girl's Catholic School!) but for me it's all about the chocolate and the Easter Bunny. The tooth fairy is a gimmick, Santa was created by department stores to sell toys but the Easter Bunny is real! What's not real about a big, fat, fluffy bunny who hops around giving chocolate and maybe a colored boiled egg or two? That's some serious stuff right there!

Wishes for a beautiful Easter be it about the chocolate, the resurrection of Christ, or both! Enjoy, be happy and healthy, and above all be thankful you're here, right now, to enjoy it all!

Spring is upon us! A special time for rebirth what's not to love about that?

Happy Easter from your bunny loving Muse!

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday girls (and guys)!

Sadly, no new updates for the Muse today. I have about 5 good entries to post but sadly Blogger is still in weekend mode and refuses to work for me.

Dunno what's going on but I'm unable to upload pictures. It's definately not a problem on my side but nothing on the maintenance page from Blogger either. Sigh.

How very irritating!

I've tried in several browses including Safari and no joy! So sadly, updates have to wait a while until this is fixed up!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I needed to get my mind off a few things so I really kept myself busy this weekend! I ended up going to two movies with friends, shopping with some friends, brunch with some friends I haven't seen in a while, helped my mum get her Easter dinner shopping done, went to visit my cousin, did Spring closet and makeup cleaning, went to a poetry reading, went to a book signing, and a bunch of other stuff. All this excluding sleep lol! I'm kidding ;)

How about you?

What did you do this weekend?

It was major cold here. Strong winds about 26 degrees out! Brrrr! But it felt good walking along in a warm jacket and gloves. Sometimes it just feels nice to be out in the cold weather!

Anyway!

Updates to come as soon as Blogger decides to cooperate! This little problem should get my arse in gear to get my own website up and rolling and do away with Blogger completely!

Back to work with my lazy self!

Cheers!

PS Good news. I was able to locate the Horizon Blush in Pink! w00t! I'll be reviewing it shortly ;)
