DuWop Lip Venom V Review and Swatches

One wonders if DuWop was trying to capture the interest of Twilight or True Blood fans when they created Lip Venom V. Honestly, I get a more Lafayette Reynolds flamboyant self vibe from a bottle of V. Visions of Lafayette prancing himself around Bon Temps hooking bottles of DuWop V isn't hard to imagine. Honestly, the image fits better than Edward Cullen or Twilight.






But I guess blood red is blood red and can be associated with vampires in general. DuWop Lip Venom V holds a little bit of the vampire world and the human world when combined creates a shocking red shade that looks like you've just been bitten or taken a bite out of someone....

This special limited edition Lip Venom is a shimmering crimson lip stain suspended in a venom-laced liquid lip conditioner. Don't expect a glossy finish from this as it's simply a blood red stain for lips. The formula is much like mixing oil and water as the lip conditioner and stain don't exactly jive together unless shaken hard before use. If you happen to be sensitive do stay clear away as it has a serious bite ouch! Unlike DuWop Lip Venom's regular formula this appears to have a seriously harsh, uncomfortable stinging sensation if you aren't prepared for it. I find that DuWop's regular glosses just have a bit of a warm sting but this is more of a stinging bite that makes lips sensitive to even touch with the applicator if you want to build color up!








After being shaken

I'm still in debate whether I actually like the product or not. I did think it would be a glossy, red stain however I was disappointed to find out it's simply a stain. No gloss here folks. I generally like stains for my lips however this is a tad too red so it's best to apply very lightly to avoid looking like Bozo the Clown. Goth lovers rejoice as if it's super pale skin and juicy, pigmented red lips is that you fancy, DuWop Lip Venom V will be sure to deliver.

Strangely enough on swatch you won't see much of a color payoff but upon contact with your lips you'll notice an intense, richly pigmented shade of red. Red can be a sophisticated, classy color but this could prove a little too much for some.






I found a light application was the safest and most flattering bet for me. It gives my lips a just bitten look that's quite pretty. Heavier application leaves me looking like I just took a sip from someone's neck.

Overall, I adore the idea and concept behind the product. Twilight is such great brain mush teen lit it's hard not to love it so I'm always on board the marketing train for anything they put out. Although it could be seen as a cop out for some and a way to feed the Twilight cash cow as for me I kinda feel it's a unique offering and a fun concept.

DuWop Fall Collection 2009

DuWop is always brings something out that the Muse tends to look forward to. Each release somehow delights and surprises me and I'm always hurrying around trying to nail it down for myself when it pops onto shelves. The DuWop Fall Collection has me fairly hyped as it's small but quite thrilling...but than again the Muse is always excited about makeup.

Keeping in with the trend of Fall, DuWop releases a single, vibrant, bold shade of red lipstick with it's Fall 2009 Collection. DuWop Private Red ($22) is a unique, color changing lipstick that creates a personal shade of red based on body chemistry. Hmmm this sounds vaguely familiar to the Muse's ears!


Although quite the little copycat this lipstick supposedly has a rich pigment that leaves behind a slight stain so lips stay red. And judging by the pictures it's far from sheer so we can count this one as possibly an innovative lippie for Fall. I'm ordering it as it sounds intriguing and I do so wish to see how different it is from other color changing products that I've tried as of late.

More lip goodness awaits you with the new DuWop Lipmousse Lipgloss ($22)

A light and fluffy whipped lip color that packs a punch of satiny color. This is a creamy formula that's not quite a gloss but not a lipstick either. It offers intense coverage with a long lasting formula that's not waxy or glossy but simply lightweight.


I imagine the formula is a creamy, matte finish which could prove dry but they do say that this has a moisturizing element to keep lips all happy. Count me curious. I'll also be indulging in one or two to see what I think.

Colors are:

• Ganache (Dark Plum Brown)
• Sorbet (Bright Pink)
• Tart(Berry Plum)

And finally DuWop Primerstone ($38) is a brand new pressed powder with SPF 15 that acts as a primer to even out skin tone, reduce pores, and create a new clean canvas for foundation.

I've never heard of this trick but supposedly makeup artists recommend a light dusting of translucent powder before foundation as this allows for a smoother application and a reduction in the appearance of enlarged pores. Whoa. Never knew that. Seems a messy idea if you're a liquid or cream foundation user like myself but count me up for a try!


Overall, I'd say DuWop has an interesting Fall Collection to look forward to. I'd order but Sephora doesn't have the products yet in stock but expect some sort of rave or rant soonish. I'm looking forward to trying these items out and oops I still have DuWop Summer 2009 to review and swatch for you, that'll be soon I promise.

Twilight Beauty Cosmetics: Twilight-Inspired Makeup Collection

Spoiled Pretty has the deets on the new Twilight inspired cosmetic collection. We already knew that DuWop was busy creating something special for us in the works that was Twilight themed but I don't think ANYONE has realized how big a collection this is turning out to be.

Yes well call me what you will but I'm a fan of Twilight so I'm excited to see how this line turns out. My original thought was DuWop would create a small selection of items to pair up with the new V Gloss they introduced earlier this month. Nope, not the case. It's even bigger and better than that!

The beauty line actually consists of two separate collections. It's actually entitled Twilight Beauty so they are taking this above and beyond a simple release from one brand.

Twilight Beauty will launch two different lines of cosmetics which will be entitled Luna Twilight and Volturi Twilight. The two lines will be available with the second film's release this Fall.

Spoiled Pretty reports that Esmy Manica and Kimbery Clark of All About Beauty and Cristina Bartolucci, the founder and Creative Director of DuWop Cosmetics, are part of the development team behind the Twilight Beauty Cosmetic Line.

The line will include over 70 products!!!!!! Holy cow! That's a brand all in itself so you can see how interesting this is shaping up to be.

Luna Twilight is inspired by the female characters of the books with an array of soft, natural beauty looks and stunning, fierce ones. Some products will include First Light Body and Face Glow and Gleam Metallic Mascara.

Volturi Twilight is inspired by the Volturi family crest. The line features Foreshadow Primer which is coupled with a loose glitter dust called Labrynth Shadows. These loose powder shadows are supposedly highly pigmented and are housed in stackable pots providing the ability to mix and match colors.

Luna Twilight will be available September 15, 2009 at Dillard’s and Nordstrom. Volturi Twilight will be available September 15, 2009 through specialty retailers. Both lines will be sold at TwilightBeauty.com, the exclusive website for both brands.

I'm highly interested in checking this out for myself as I'm curious about colors, products, and prices.

DuWop Lip Venom V is DuWop's ode to Edward (And maybe Bill and Eric too). This special limited edition Lip Venom is a sneak peek of things to come at DuWop as supposedly it's one of a few products that are being released that will be Twilight themed in nature.

I dunno what the deets are but supposedly their is some kind of US Weekly coupon code that gets you V at a special price but I've had no success finding the code. I picked up the Twilight Edition of US Weekly and also a previous US Weekly but no code. Word on the street is maybe it'll be in next week's mag but I really haven't a clue at this point. I just went and ordered one on a whim without the coupon. It cost me $22 and some change which is obscene but I'm such a Cullen groupie I was on it like white on rice. How absurd.

The gloss is the typical DuWop formula but it's laced with crimson lip stain so you can be sportin' a just bitten pout. Actually it's probably a complete winner as I love Lip Venom anyway and I adore staining my lips so this is perfection for me.

You can only purchase two of these at the moment and truly I was tempted to plop two in my cart but somehow my logical side won out and realized all that "limited edition" who-ha won't keep it from sticking around well into the release of New Moon way into November. As if this is so LE that it won't be around for the movie release, the Muse is not so naive.

According to Duwop, "Only a limited number of Lip Venom V have been produced. Vampires may live forever, but this offer won't. Due to limited quantity and exclusivity of this offer, limit 2 per customer."

Ummm well either way as I much as I adore you DuWop I'm not taking bets on it being gone for good in November.

I'm a little confused about it being a pre-order as it says the order will ship July 1st if your DuWop Order contains Lip Venom V. I only ordered V and nothing more so I'm wondering will this delay my shipment? Does the order have to contain other DuWop cosmetics to ship? I'm doubting it but just curious what exactly they are referring to.

Anyway, I guess this turned into a babble fest when in fact I just wanted to tell you Lip Venom V is now on sale at DuWop if you wants it!

I'm the first to admit I absolutely adore Twilight so of course a new themed lipgloss from the movie by DuWop has me in fits of joy!

Entertainment Weekly reports that DuWop Twilight Lip Gloss is a lip stain mixed with DuWop's popular Lip Venom! Some reports I've read are saying that there will be an entire makeup collection themed for the Twilight film and that Robert Pattinson is already sporting DuWop Twilight on the set. You'll see this gloss and possibly this collection, if rumors are true, later this year but I'm betting by the end of Summer for Fall Collection releases.

Light, Fresh Coverage for Summer: DuWop Revolotion Face Tinted Moisturizer Review

Remember last year I had this mad love affair with Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer? Actually I still dig it to this day!

But anyway this year I'm kinda on this trippy travel to try out any and all tinted moisturizers that I've wanted to for a while but never did. The good news is that since I'm tripping out over tinted moisturizers that means you can get all my babble about which are good, which are bad, and which are Muse Approved for purchase.

Speaking of which....

I've always wanted to try DuWop Revolotion Face but I didn't indulge for whatever reason. I recently scored it for $18 bucks which is about $11 off retail price. I guess the price plus the fact that I'm high on TM's (TM=tinted moisturizer) convinced me to pick it up!

So today I'll give you the low down on DuWop Revolotion Face Tinted Moisturizer and whether it's a rave of a rant!

Few things about tinted moisturizers:

Don't you find they aren't as pigmented as you'd like them to be? I mean they are supposed to be light, natural coverage but don't you yearn for a tiny bit more pigmentation?

Isn't the formula a little too loose? Yes, it's beautifully creamy but I sometimes wish they were a bit less runny.

Well problems all solved. DuWop Revolotion covers it. It's quite a good deal more pigmented than other tinted moisturizers I've tried in the pass. The formula also happens to be nice and creamy but not runny. The result? Flawless, natural, light coverage for Summer wearing and tearing. Loves it!

Speaking from a dry skin stand point the product feels lovely on my skin and gives just the right blend of moisture and color without a greasy, oily feeling. The finish is very lovely. It makes me look quite flawless and blends smoothly and evenly. It's not matte mind you but it's more of a dewy, fresh feeling.




On a side note if you need extra coverage to hide major flaws, acne, etc...this isn't the product you're going to want to purchase as it's simple, sheer coverage. However, if you're looking for a very light, subtle makeup for the hot weather that evens out your skin tone and creates a nice flawless canvas for make up while providing a touch of moisture to skin I'd highly recommend checking out DuWop Revolotion.

Ok, so of course I want to tell you about the new DuWop Crush Palette ($24 USD). Last year I fell in love with this palette and I hoped and prayed for another color selection, bless be my prayers were heard and in comes a new shade entitled 18 Karat. So I have to rant a little bit because I'm the Muse and that's what I do. 18 Karat looks a little, tiny bit uneventful from the photos. I'm a tad worried as it looks sorta matte, not as shimmery as the prior palette, and even appears almost a dupe of the other palette however I will say in it's defense that the stock photo may not be doing justice. I'm really worked into a frenzy over this palette and I'm looking forward to getting my order so I can see if it's a yay or a nay. Love, love, loving the new DuWop Iced Teas ($19 USD)! These are a cooling transuclent lip treatment with a exotic fruit flavor which also contain sunscreen. They look incredibly yummie! I'm unsure if they taste different, like their names imply, or it's the same taste. Four shades are available which are White Peach, Black Currant, Strawberry Kiwi, and Passionfruit!


As always I'm on the bandwagon for expressing my intense dislike for bronzers but count me on board with the DuWop SunDrops ($28 USD). DuWop Sun Drops is a universally flattering bronzing serum that gives a healthy radiant glow. The fact that it's in a pump packaging makes it very appealing as it means the chances of overdoing it are slim!

DuWop Amber Eyes Trio

The Muse was so enthralled with DuWop Crush Metallic Eyeshadow Trio last year. It was truly a great little trio of shadows. She was so in lust with it she was busy wishin' and hopin' that DuWop might extend the line and do a few more shades, the Muse can so get on board with that.

Although they didn't quite get it right, they are getting the idea with the brand new, limited edition DuWop Amber Eyes Trio!

It's like a little version of DuWop's popular Amber Eyes Palette! Look! Just like mom used to make only smaller (ha remember that commercial?)!

The compact features an amber shadow for the lid and a contrasting deeper amber for the crease with a sable eyeliner. It also includes a double-ended brush but count me in for calling that a stupid idea, where the hell am I supposed to store the brush? Hello, lost and found? Have you found my DuWop double ended brush I lost last week because I can't fit it in the palette and have to carry it around separately duh!

Aside from my rant about the brush I like the idea of this palette but not so much the colors as it's a bit of the same I already have with the Crush palette....but let's wait...and see...maybe we'll get more colors of this fine palette soon from DuWop......

You're almost there now DuWop...needs a little tweaking and you'll have it just right me thinks!

I'm not a particularly big fan of DuWop Cheek Venom but when I seen this new Cheek Venom duo I was sorta intrigued.

Exclusive to QVC at the moment the DuWop Cheek Venom & Doubleglow7 Luminous Balm Duo is $24 USD and brings two of DuWop's products togehter in one compact. You'll get a highlighter for cheeks and face with DuWop Doubleglow and a Cheek Venom cream blush to give cheeks a pop of color!

It's rather interesting to see both products packaged together. As I mentioned I'm not a huge fan of Cheek Venom but I've always been tempted to try Doubleglow and hey it's packaged together so kinda a nice little treat!

DuWop Circle Block Review and Swatches

I dunno what it is but concealers really turn me on lately. I'm on board the concealer express train and haven't quite reached my destination as of yet which is why when I seen the new DuWop Circle Block Concealer I was quite excited to have a try.

It has it all! A dynamic duo to conceal my dark circles and a water-resistant treatment shield to keep my circles away all day.




Right...when things sounds too good to be true that normally means they are.

DuWop Circle Block is a dual system which works at concealing dark circles and waterproofing the concealer formula so you have lasting, flawless coverage throughout the day.




Well, slap me and call me silly but I've no idea why they though it was a good idea to package a concealer with a strange "water-resistant treatment shield" that's orange in color and actually makes your eyes look tired and more exhausted than when you originally started out.

Two steps go into applying the concealer. 1st you'll be applying the orange "shield" below your under eyes and proceeding to follow up with the concealer. The orange shield is a moisturizing orange, yes orange treatment which is rather strange to apply considering it doesn't technically blend out to a suitable shade it just stays...well it stays orange. After the orange treatment is on you'll follow up with the concealer. The concealer has a nice whipped texture which could be comparable to Clarins Instant Smooth Foundation however not as much silicon in the formula. I tried the lightest shade and it's honestly still too beige. Add to the fact that the shade is a terrible shade of beige plus applying on top of the orange and you come out with a nice hot mess of interesting shades under your eyes.








I generally love that they put an interesting effort into the product with a "water-resistant" treatment. That seriously sounded like it'll be a life saver in the concealer department however it's an epic fail for me. The orange is terribly strange! I guess they consider the treatment not only a water proof mechanism but also a means of concealing darker circles by off setting them with a salmon shade however for me it just drowns my eyes out terribly and gives me a full on made up look. The concealer itself on top of the treatment creases and cakes terribly partly due to it's whipped consistency I'd say. The concealer blends well enough and has a nice texture but it doesn't absorb too well and patting into place is out of the question as you'll really end up with a cakey mess. Smoothing on is the way to go but after an hour or so you'll notice it creeping into fine lines.

Overall, I just thought the entire two part system was rubbish. It concealed circles only ok but I have way better concealers that do the job without as much fanfare. I felt like it aged my eyes as well and made me look tired due to the mix of orange and beige shades. Props to an interesting idea but it just fails to work well enough for me to rave. The formula is paraben free but that doesn't excuse the terrible finished results of the product.

In the end DuWop Circle Block ended up taking the short train home to Sephora as I returned it. $28 USD is just too much to spend on a product that did absolutely nothing for concealing my under eye woes.

Rethinking this I love the idea and maybe if they did a clear waterproof treatment, with a more flattering shade of concealer (less beige) please and maybe a finishing powder to complete the entire concealing system. Now that would really work for me.

In the end DuWop Circle Block is a no likey for this Muse!

Now here's something to get excited about! The DuWop Spring Collection 2009 is shaping up to be something that I'm highly interested in indulging in! New foundation plus a new concealer all have my interest captured!

Ok, stop everything you're doing and feast your eyes on the new DuWop Circle Block which is being released as part of the DuWop Spring Collection 2009.

Well hello possibly ridding me of my dark circle woes...!

DuWop Circle Block is a two-part system for prepping and concealing dark circles while offering all day waterproof coverage...whoa...likey. This promises "phenomenal staying powder" combined with a richly pigmented concealer plus it's paraben free...it's getting better and better isn't it? It appears that you'll be prepping with the gel like primer and applying concealer on top. I wants it as soon as possible. It' $28 USD and will available shortly from Sephora.


Also releasing is a brand new foundation entitled DuWop Foundation of Youth which is a light weight anti-aging foundation with brush applicator. $38 USD and also available from Sephora shortly. This one doesn't tickle me but I admit that the idea of an anti-aging foundation does sound interest although it looks tiny for the price tag! Will have to see it in person before deciding.


DuWop Mattillume is a baked translucent powder for battling oily skin and creating a fresh, flawless look during those warm Spring days!


And finally DuWop Tinted Prime Venom plumps lips while offering gorgeous color and kissable lips all in a moisturizing lip balm formula!


All in all the line up looks fantastic but I'm particularly interested in the DuWop Circle Block and will bring you a review of it as soon as I can get my greedy hands on it!
