DuWop Lip Venom V Review and Swatches
One wonders if DuWop was trying to capture the interest of Twilight or True Blood fans when they created Lip Venom V. Honestly, I get a more Lafayette Reynolds flamboyant self vibe from a bottle of V. Visions of Lafayette prancing himself around Bon Temps hooking bottles of DuWop V isn't hard to imagine. Honestly, the image fits better than Edward Cullen or Twilight.
But I guess blood red is blood red and can be associated with vampires in general. DuWop Lip Venom V holds a little bit of the vampire world and the human world when combined creates a shocking red shade that looks like you've just been bitten or taken a bite out of someone....
Jump for it!
This special limited edition Lip Venom is a shimmering crimson lip stain suspended in a venom-laced liquid lip conditioner. Don't expect a glossy finish from this as it's simply a blood red stain for lips. The formula is much like mixing oil and water as the lip conditioner and stain don't exactly jive together unless shaken hard before use. If you happen to be sensitive do stay clear away as it has a serious bite ouch! Unlike DuWop Lip Venom's regular formula this appears to have a seriously harsh, uncomfortable stinging sensation if you aren't prepared for it. I find that DuWop's regular glosses just have a bit of a warm sting but this is more of a stinging bite that makes lips sensitive to even touch with the applicator if you want to build color up!
After being shaken
I'm still in debate whether I actually like the product or not. I did think it would be a glossy, red stain however I was disappointed to find out it's simply a stain. No gloss here folks. I generally like stains for my lips however this is a tad too red so it's best to apply very lightly to avoid looking like Bozo the Clown. Goth lovers rejoice as if it's super pale skin and juicy, pigmented red lips is that you fancy, DuWop Lip Venom V will be sure to deliver.
Strangely enough on swatch you won't see much of a color payoff but upon contact with your lips you'll notice an intense, richly pigmented shade of red. Red can be a sophisticated, classy color but this could prove a little too much for some.
I found a light application was the safest and most flattering bet for me. It gives my lips a just bitten look that's quite pretty. Heavier application leaves me looking like I just took a sip from someone's neck.
Overall, I adore the idea and concept behind the product. Twilight is such great brain mush teen lit it's hard not to love it so I'm always on board the marketing train for anything they put out. Although it could be seen as a cop out for some and a way to feed the Twilight cash cow as for me I kinda feel it's a unique offering and a fun concept.
Heavy Use
Lighter Use
Honestly, I'm still thinking it's got that True Blood feeling to it, a little blood red for the fang bangers out there!
Anyone try yet?
Love it?
Leave it?
Tell it!

hehe you dont look too happy about the heavy use. the lighter application is nice, but i just can't pull off red anything!
Well, I love True Blood, and Lafayette is a great character :P
That said, I thought it would be glossy too! This is kinda eh.
hey giz lol you're right :-D I wasn't too happy LOL!
it's quite bright red sadly :P
i adore him dd :-D he's my fav character aside from Eric of course :-D
I thought it would be too I was shocked it's just a stain...no idea why I was under the impression it was a gloss stain!
Yay! Team Eric together :)
I dislike Bill :P
hey dd :-D
YAYYY Eric is totally way cooler than Bill. Bill's such a stick in the mud.
Yes, I think this is more Lafayette's style. I'm not into lip stains or red lips (on me) so I'll pass this up.
i think it is unique... lol... I don't even have chance to grab them... M'sia doesn't carry these lovely, funky items >.<
Another cranky comment! I HATE TWILIGHT. Passionately. Now that that's out of my system...
I love vampires... Buffy, Angel, True Blood, Anne Rice, Sunshine, Bram Stoker... I'm all over them. Twilight deeply offends the vampire lover in me because Twilight vampires are such wimpy crybabies. (In uncreative ways. I will, of course, defend Louis and Angel in a heartbeat.)
I think the point I'm trying to make is this stuff is right up my alley, at least for novelty's sake! =) I shan't be buying, but it's fun to consider. (I still haven't gotten my Too Faced Palette!!! So sad.)
So how bad does it sting? I can handle the regular Lip Venom.
Oh, btw- I stopped by the Estee Lauder counter last weekend and I swatched some of the new glosses and a few eye shadows! Love them! Especially the amethyst colored gloss.
hi jackie!
me too. I like just bitten but nothing so red as this eep! Layered on it's a bit clowny!
hi ning * star
aww man :P try MUA hun maybe a friendly yank will cp for you? :-D
hi finch lol :-D
I really dig on Twilight in all honesty :-D
I think it's a little bit of an emo teen lit thing :-D hehehe I guess compared to Anne Rice's vampires and True Blood Twilight is quite tame :-D
Gosh yes that's me. I love it for the novelty alone :D
awww sorry about the Too Faced palette.
I can handle Lip Venom too no probs but this was weird. First application is cool but blending it out with the brush kinda feels weird because your lips begin to sting bad and it feels like you're pricking them with a needle when you're using the brush ouch!
seems more intense than regular venom!
oooo yayayayaya it's so under rated as I imagine no one will take note but should an incredible palette :-D Loving it glad to hear you liked it!
Hey! When did you get yours in? I ordered mine on July 31st, it said it shipped August 11th and it's now August 24th and still no lipgloss!! Wth?!
