Benefit Hello Flawless! Review, Swatches, and Before and After Photos

Benefit has succeeded yet again and has a big winner on it's hands with it's brand new Hello Flawless! Powder.

Fantastically good stuff. Count this Muse impressed!

Jump ahead to hear me rave!

I've used quite alot of powders in my day but I don't think I've come across a richly pigmented powder as Benefit Hello Flawless! If you use a powder foundation you're seriously going to want to give this a try as it truly covers literally EVERYTHING and possibly the kitchen sink too.

The powder is heavily pigmented but manages to remain light and natural on the face which is quite impressive for the Muse. Anything as pigmented as this powder would make me think twice as I'd worry it would appear cakey on my skin but nope, not the case. Flawless is the order of business indeed. The formula is gentle, light, and quite airy. I was a bit worried that my dry skin would look absolutely ridiculous with this on but no problems at all in that area. The powder applies and blends like a dream and creates flawless coverage without any caking, creasing, or flaking due to dry skin. It managed to control my oily forehead and stayed fresh for about four or five hours before I needed to head in for a touch up. Normally I don't wear powder as a foundation but I did so today and I must say I was looking heavenly as you'll notice from my photos below. Even my mate Martin mentioned that I was "glowing"!

Benefit Hello Flawless! has alot going for it in particular the fact that it contains SPF 15. Combining sun protection with a mattifying powder plus one pigmented enough to work as a foundation creates a star of a product. The compact is too cute with a "lit" makeup mirror on the cover and the words "Hello Flawless". Flip it open to reveal a dual compact which has the powder on top and houses the brush and the sponge, yes indeed two applicators, underneath.

The powder gives the Burger King motto a whirl for it's money! It's "Have it your way" foundation powder! w00t! The basic concept of the powder is it works one of two ways by 1. using the brush to sweep on a thin layer of powder to combat oil, set makeup, or freshen your face up or 2. use the sponge applicator for full on flawless coverage and to cover spots, blemishes, or dull skin. The Muse tried it both ways and although brushing on the powder is fab for a quickie touch up I actually prefer application with the sponge as I felt like taking full advantage of such a pigmented powder (in this particular case more was less). There aren't many ways to describe the results...flawlessness is the best way to put it, hence the name right? It seriously covers really well and creates a perfect canvas for makeup. Heck, I even used a tiny bit under my eyes and it covers up dark circles in a snap! I checked the ingredients and I don't see any Talc which could account for why it wore so well on my face.

The beauty mark test! Now you see it, now you don't!

Have it your way coverage!

The following photo is a makeup free Muse. As you can see my face is a bit dull, circles under my eyes, tired looking eyes, a few spots on my face, and my skin just isn't looking amazing.

After a dusting of Benefit Hello Flawless! you can begin to see a bit of better looking skin but a bit more is needed.

After a full application of the powder my skin is absolutely perfect! Spots are gone, dark circles and tired eyes are brighter, the dullness of my skin is left glowing and beautiful!

Overall, I'm truly in love with Benefit Hello Flawless! and quite happy to Muse Approve it for purchase. You seriously need to give this one a try as it's a winner. I'm looking forward to using this as my primary foundation come the Summer and I'm particularly delighted that even though it's Winter and my skin is quite dry that I'm still able to take full advantage and look beautiful and gorgeous without any flaky grossness. Any certain dullness was quickly erased and I was left looking flawless.

Who might love this:

  • Anyone who wants perfect, healthy flawless looking skin!
  • Those who use a powder foundation right now but feel like they need something more pigmented.
  • Anyone in a hot climate who needs a powder foundation to combat oily skin with the added benefits of SPF.
  • Those who want a multitasking powder that they can easily apply in sheer or heavier layers!
  • Anyone who wants to walk down the street and hear a greeting from a friend saying "Well, Hello Flawless!"

Loves this one.
Alot.

The Muse thinks you need it.

06 - "why walk when you can strut?" (hazelnut)
01 - "me, vain?" (champagne)

Hi everyone!
Here's what benefit said in reply to my email:

"Thank you for writing to us at Benefit Cosmetics.

We're sorry to hear about the system error you experienced that prevented you from placing "hello flawless!" in your shopping bag.

We are aware of this issue, and our developers are working on a resolution. Often these errors are corrected after only a short time, so please try again in a day or two.

Again, we apologize for this inconvenience. Thank you for shopping at Benefit Cosmetics."

hope that helps!

Laura: I guess it's not sold out! yippee!

the Muse: I just discovered your site and wanted to tell you that compared to the many other beauty sites I prowl, yours stands out in that you speak to your international readers! =) That's so cool - fyi, I'm a Singaporean residing in NYC and used to be a crazy cozycotter =p

I love international beauty brands...especially asian ones and I really love incorporating all that into my Musings :)

Thank you for recognizing that ;)

Oh goodieeeee so glad it's not sold out I thought maybe we broke the site hehehehe!

Hi Muse... I've been reading your blog for quite sometime, yet I've never got the courage to post a comment :P. Yet this product has got me intrigued, how would you say it compares to Prescriptives All Skins Mineral Makeup? I'm rather interested in your opinion

Hi Muse,

What shade would you recommend if I use MAC Sheer Pressed Powder in NC 25?

ME NEEDDDSSS THIS!!! lol

February 19, 2009 at 1:26 PM
Blogger the Muse said...

hi anonymous

how are you? Thanks so much for the comment and for reading my blog :)

It's quite different as Prescriptives is a mineral foundation and needs to be "buffed" on plus it's loose and not a pressed powder so application is quite different also pigmentation is considerably different as well since Hello Flawless is way more pigmented.

Hope this helps some :)

Blogger the Muse said...

hi anonymous

I really can't rec you a powder since I haven't seen the shades in person :( Sorry hun...I've only used Petal and I'm unsure if that might be too light for your NC25 skin or just right...picking the best color would be something you'd know best as your know what looks best on your tone.

Sorry I can't be of more help!

I am super excited to try this. I normally HATE Benefit's products with the exception of She-Laq but your review has me clamoring. It also looks like the two lighter colors are fairly yellow which is perfect, nothing is ever yellow enough for me!

Great review!

wow, what a helpful review! thank you!
your skin does indeed look flawless! i'd love to get my hands on this, my only concern is that it may be too yellow-toned for me. i have yellow and pink tones in my fair skin (i'm eurasian), do you think i should give this a go? by the way, i LOVE your eyes. you have the prettiest doe eyes. they subtract ten years from your actual age as do the other wonderful facial features and peaches and cream skin you've been endowed with!

Benefit already had these powders a long time ago.. they brought them back since 1.) Customers complained that they were gone 2.) They didn't have a full coverage powder to begin with. This is just simply a repacked version of what they had before. I don't exactly remember the name of the product, but I know one of the colors was called Champagne. I loved them and really never could figure out why they discontinued it.

hi krista

whoa really? news to me. I've been collecting benefit for 10 years but the only thing I seen like this was the "get even" compacts. I never seen full coverage like this from benefit. As far as I knew it was a brand new product.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing.

I thought that GET EVEN was a great powder, but when I started using Hello Flawless in Honey i was astounded at the results!!! not only is it my exact skin tone it really does stay on for a long time and i live in San Antonio where the weather is currently 102 degrees. this stuff doesn't melt off my face! love it love it love it. I go from corpse to flawless just patting this on in the morning. Thanks for posting this and anyone itching to buy it it's so worth the money.

i bought this right after reading this and at first i was quite annoyed even when using the sponge it seemed to flake all over the place and for the money i thought it just wasnt worth it so i left it but the other morning i picked it up and just put a layer of it over moisteriser and as i got into it more it didnt flake half as much as it used to and boy did it sort out my skin no redness,no freckles,no spots and no sleepyness :)
i love it.
