Givency Spring Collection 2009: Givenchy Sari Glow Blush Maharani Pink and Maharani Orange Photos, Swatches, and Review

To say I'm pleased with Givenchy Sari Glow Blush is an understatement! Sari Glow Blush manages to keep all the fine features I know and love about Givenchy Blush and add something a little bit different and extra to make the blush even better.

Givenchy released two colors of Sari Glow Blush both of which reflect the beautiful colors incorporated into an Indian woman's traditional dress. Much like the MAC Manish Aurora release, Givenchy choose bolder shades of pinks and oranges to dominate their new Spring Collection for 2009 and the Muse can't deny she's absolutely thrilled with the colors and the products released.

Givenchy Sari Glow Blush is a tiny bit different when compared with other blushes released from the line as the formula is baked and a good deal more pigmented then many colors already available. I got both colors as they are quite unique, exotic, and beautiful. Givenchy managed to keep the texture and formula of the blush even though it's a baked version so you'll still get that iridescent "glow" finish when you use the blushes. Do see my FOTD from Givenchy's Holiday Collection and I think you'll understand the glow I mean! Pigmentation is excellent on both shades of blush so you can have a bold stroke of color on cheeks or a lighter sheer wash, it's entirely up to you.

The colors available in the blush are Maharani Orange and Maharani Pink. Maharani Orange is a true orange blush and applies as such. Don't expect to get a peachy glow from this, it's orange, really orange. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but it's not easy to pull off for everyone and I have to say even I'm struggling with it slightly. The collection does have the vibe that it would work best on bronzed, sunkissed, or darker tones than my own medium fair skin. I'm thinking I need to try the orange on my sister and see how it looks on her! After a fair bit of blending I was kinda feeling the love for all that orange and felt quite dolled up! It's a really nice glowing shade and I think it'll look even better if I allow myself to get a little sun this coming Summer (highly doubtful I'll get anywhere near the Sun but it's the thought that counts!). Maharani Pink is a true pink shade that gives a nice stroke of shimmering iridescent pinched pink on my cheeks! I like this one alot as it's a straight pink with a nice finish...not too bold but bold enough to be noticed.

Each blush is a dual compact which has the blush on top and a brush tucked away underneath in a separate compact. Givenchy obviously understands what addicts want, which would be not having our brush lay on top of our blusher! Of course, Givenchy has designed and themed it's compacts with an Indian like flare around the border of the compact and a pink background for the Maharani Pink Blush and an orange one for the Maharani Orange Blush. The blush bears the Givenchy emblem smack in the middle and a black border all around the powder. Interestingly enough after a few swipes it still remains there...we shall see for how long!

I took note that these are $42 USD and correct me if you must but weren't Givenchy blushes $50 USD last year? So again we see Givenchy making steps to lower the cost of it's cosmetics, likey!

Overall, I think if you're a collector and fan of Givenchy you'll want to pick up both blushes. If you're a darker skin tone I think you'll want these as well as they'll look stunning on darker tones especially those who are of Indian descent. I do Muse Approve them for purchase because I think they are unique and interesting items to add to your higher end collection. The Muse loves 'em!

wow the orange looks scary bright o.o i rarely wear straight pink, more often peachy pink cuz the peach suits my yellowish skin better...but the pink looks like it would perfect for a sweet doll-ish look xD

Hi Izzy!

I'm a bit disappointed actually, as I was hoping for the pink blush to be a deep vibrant pink rather than light pink. But thanks for the wonderfully detailed swatches and pics! I'll definitely still be checking these out at the counter!

I'm not really interested in these, although the pink looks pretty. Might end up picking it up if they still have it once it goes on sale, I just bought the Xmas LE face powder half price and few other bits and bobs. ;) I'm more interested in the Prismissime Visage in Maharani pinks. http://www.parfumsgivenchy.com/make_up/collections/2009_spring_summer/the_shades/prismissime_visage_21_maharani_pinks/colours_1_145_884_522.html Any chance of a review on that? ;)
