Almay Pure Blends Foundation Review

The Muse has been really trying hard to get a few drugstore finds up and reviewed here. I know many of you shop drugstore and you want the latest info about whether or not items are a stash or a trash so I've been trying hard to get "into" the drugstore scene.

My latest drugstore purchase brought me to Almay Pure Blends. Although I'm not always conscious (bad, bad habit) about what goes onto my face, I realize many of you are which is why I wanted to review this line for you and see if lived up the hype.

Find out if it did after the jump!

Almay Pure Blends is a brand new collection from Almay that promises 97.4% natural ingredients. It's housed in eco-friendly package, blended with antioxidants of lotus, orchid, and acia plus has a paraben free, talc free formula. For anyone terribly sensitive it's also hypoallergenic as well.

The line contains everything from glosses and shadows, to main base make products such as the Almay Pure Blends Foundation I purchased. Don't expect major coverage because you're simply not going to be happy purchasing this if that's what you're expecting. The formula is runny, watery, and thin and manages to offer the coverage of a nice tinted moisturizer rather than a full on foundation. Although it doesn't work at covering much of anything it still manages to exceed at evening out skin tone and offering a nice natural finish minus any bells and whistles.

I read some reviews that said felt it was too oily and I honestly thought the formula was just right. Not to oily, not to drying but just very natural feeling as if I was applying a very light moisturizer to my skin. I don't need a whole lot of foundation anyway so this is perfect for warmer days or days I'm not looking for a made up look.

Minor rants would be the price of nearly $12 USD or so (yes, you can probably save money by buying it on sale but I didn't wait for a sale!) and the smallish packaging for that amount. It's an oz of product and likely won't last long with proper, daily use so I can't help but feel I can do way better by purchasing a MAC foundation or some other brand for a few dollars more that will last me a year or so. However, I'm sure if purchased on sale it would be possibly worth shelling out for.

I'll continue using it till I'm finished but it's absolutely nothing to write home about. If you're seeking a drugstore brand that's green friendly with alot less toxic ingredients you'd find in most foundations this is probably something you want to check out otherwise if you're thinking to purchase it simply because it sounds like a good foundation, I'd skip. Possibly the only thing appealing about it is it's green friendly formula because I can't speak for anything else being so grand about it.

Like it well enough but not feeling any undying love for it.

How about you?

Tried Almay Pure Blends?

Loves 'em?

Leaves 'em?

personally, i'm a fan of Rimmel's Lasting Finish Enriched w/minerals foundation. For me, its my HG foundation! Stays on ALL day through work and play (and I work at a Toy Store! So that's saying ALOT!), and covers everything (I have hyper pigmentation from acne scarring). I know that its hard for some people to find a match because Rimmel runs a bit dark, but i've never had a problem. Its my #1 drugstore pick foundation for sure!
