Reader's Request: Majolica Majorca Single Eyeshadows

Some people collect stamps. Other collect stickers. Some folks like to collect designer bags or shoes. While still others collect figurines or action figures. The Muse happens to collect cosmetics (and old books but that's not part of this story).

As per a reader's request I've taken a picture of my large stash of Majolica Majorca Eyeshadow Singles. Now the Muse values Majolica Majorca Eyeshadow Singles more than she does life itself...ok I exaggerated a little bit there...she does however hold these in higher value than say her MAC stash of shadows.

I can't say I went to a ton of trouble to get my singles because I honestly didn't however my good friend Iris went to a heck of a lot of insanity to grab me singles that were both new and discontinued by searching around Tokyo drugstores about a year and a half ago. Lucky enough Iris scored some great shades that were long since gone from the regular catalog of single shadows. It saddens me that Majolica Majorca Single Eyeshadows get so little love due to the fact that the palettes are the star of many eyes in the cosmetic world. It's actually really upsetting considering that most addicts would agree the singles are actually much better pigmented and better quality when compared to the palettes that MJ has out at the moment.

The singles come housed in a little slide draw that sports the MJ golden emblem on top as a pull. Pull back and the draw reveals gorgeous, silky, pigmented MJ eyeshadow. The shadows can be removed from these draws and placed in palettes however the Muse loves the packaging style so much she never really had the heart to depot any of her singles. A few years back MJ had compacts out which would house either four shadows, two shadows and one blush, or two blushes. I can't say for sure but I think these are long past gone and I don't think MJ actually carries them anymore or I could be wrong and they axed the dual compact which housed one blush or two shadows. Either way the compacts were quite gorgeous with a gold layered plate on top, a mirror inside, and the words "Fulfills All Your Wishes" in lovely script on the gold plate. I really should get around to actually depotting my singles and putting them in these pretty compacts but I just never had the heart to do so and my stash currently resides in a pink box and the compacts are tucked into another box.

The Muse's MJ stash tucked safely away in a pretty box!

The singles run around $3-$5 USD and are a great deal to say the least so if you happen to be wandering around Tokyo one day and come across these wonderful singles the Muse says pick 'em up as the are Muse Approved for purchase!

You can snag 'em up and around the Internet as well just have a read of my Japanese Cosmetic Buying Guide to see where the best deals are!

I'll be documenting all the shades that I have stashed away shortly so stay tuned for that post!

And I was so excited to try them out. that was such a mistake as I got red eyes from wearing them! i had all finishes including the matte ones that i never liked. well, that's a horoor story from me.

this is a fantastic post though! love your collection.

I have 2 of the singles and I'm loving them! You know what saddens me tho, even tho I love their silkyness and such, it crumbles really easily when I get some on my applicator.
Maybe I'm just pushing too hard haha, but one day i decided to get rid of the little bits of crumbs on the single so stupid me, i turned it upside down into the garbage can, only to find out that the whole single was actually not attached to the pan anymore and the whole thing fell right out haha i think my scream could be heard half way around the world. nevertheless, i had to scrounge out the largest piece, luckily it was only in my garbage can full of paper. so now i have a MJ piggy in my pan haha. so the lesson here for me, not to be so rough with the delicate pans hahaha.
now i need a new replacement of the BK shade, such a gorgeous dark greyish shade too!
how are you ever gonna finish all those shades??
the cases look really cute, i thought i saw them still available at the sasa stores in hong kong.

Hi Muse!
I'm glad you started blogging about Japanese makeup again as these days the makeup reviews u blog about are usually non-asian brands :x

I very much prefer the singles too! The palettes always turn out pretty sheer and need some layering and they fade really fast :( The singles on the other hand has a metallic shimmery look which I adore very much. Hmm, my fav one is the one you zoom in! Very nice colour.

Oh & I've been reading your blog since like last year but never did leave a comment. I love your reviews! They are really interesting/fun accompanied with nice pictures.

Happy Holiday Muse!

wow haha, i was really shocked when i saw your collection..!!
i was just wondering though.. would the single eyeshadows, trick on palettes or majolook illuminator palettes be most worth buying by judging the colour of the eyeshadows?

Muse, which are your favorite MJ colors in your collection? Preferably from the regular selection, as it may be difficult to get our hands on the discontinued ones :D

you're so cute! That is too funny how you have both the singles and the palettes, but the palettes are empty. :) I have three (3) MM singles and I love them. Unfortunately I just don't have the willpower to order from Japan. Good for you! I love the collection photos.

morning MiuMiu!

Yayyy! Oh no really? Have you tried a bit of alcohol to repress it tightly? I haven't run into this problem but it does come up in big globs for sure..however it hasn't completely fallen apart thankfully!

awwwwww I feel so sad you lost one whole shadow :) knowing me I'd be dumpster diver trying to scoop up the powder lol!

It's actually not too difficult to finish them off as they aren't nearly as big as say a mac shadow :)

They prob are still available in HK but I don't think that Japan has 'em...not sure though!

Hope so as they are awesome!

hello there Cheryl!

Yea true I'm very sorry about that :( nothing Asian has really caught my eye lately for some reason! But I will have some xmas collections to review shortly :)

I must say that the palettes are lovely but honestly I agree they do have to be layered more :P I like the singles way better as they pigmentation is great...I wish they'd release one or two shades with each color story!

Wow thanks Cheryl :) for being a long time reader and enjoying my little blog..I appreciate it greatly :) I'm so happy you like my reviews/posts/babblings!

Happy Holiday to you!
I hope you'll stop back to comment again soon!

hello there po!

hehe shock is one emotion I'm sure!

I like the singles better for pigmentation but I do love the palettes for the nice looks you can get from 'em :) Depends on if you want more of a sheer wash of color or a popping shade..singles are vibrant where as the palettes are more sheer and shimmery!

Hope this helps!

hello there Mellerson!

Sadly I don't have them in front of me at the moment so I couldn't tell you the exact shade numbers but my favs are normally the pinks, golds, and whites that they put out. MJ has done so many variations of white it boggles the mind but each one is more interesting than the last :)

I'll be doing a spotlight on the shades soon, this may help you decide which ones you'll love!

Hope this helps!

I think you'll like 'em as they are super pigmented

I'm growing green with envy here. That's quite a collection!

I must say that I agree with you in that the singles are waaaay more pigmented and generally better than the palettes. Don't get me wrong, I still love the palettes. =Þ They should make the palettes with the same texture/formula as the singles.

Anyhoo, I can't wait for the new Lash Expander version, I bet you're excited about it too!
