MAC Hello Kitty Pictures

The Muse's friends at Kiss and Makeup have scooped the tale and have images available from the new MAC Hello Kitty Collection!

Exciting but still not capturing my interest le sigh! The Muse changed things around a bit and gave her impression of how she thinks the MAC Hello Kitty Collection should go down!

First off the Muse feels that they should have recruited her favorite coplayer Arisa Mizuhara. She'd have made thee perfect model for the MAC Hello Kitty Collection. Arisa, Hello Kitty, MAC...yes I'm thinking I like this union. Alot.

MAC's Version

The Muse's Version

We need the perfect outfit for Arisa so I'm thinking we need to head over to Lawrara and pick out one for her!

Maybe this?

or this?

Source

As you already know from reading my previous impression of MAC Hello Kitty I wasn't so into all the black packaging! The Muse thinks that needs to be revamped as well.

MAC's Version

The Muse is thinking lots and lots of pink and maybe Jill Stuart like packaging thrown around for good measure!

Nothing like the classic feel of Hello Kitty to get a girl excited!

How great would it be if we can have rhinestones and pretty pink compacts?

Pretty princess-like packaging a la Jill Stuart Cosmetics!

If the Muse had her way this is how MAC Hello Kitty would go down! Pretty, pink, and very kawaii is what Hello Kitty is all about!

How about you?

What would you change about the MAC Hello Kitty Collection?

How would you make it better?

Are you loving what you've seen of it so far?

Not so much?

Who would be your Muse (or model) for the collection?

Tell the Muse!

Oh Musey, I almost fell off my chair when I saw the Hello Kitty laptop! That is how I always envisioned HK...very pink and sparkly...
I think MAC is trying too hard to give HK an edge...it is not supposed to be edgy, its supposed to be kawaii!!!!

I love Hello Kitty as much as the next girl, but I am relieved that MAC put it's collection into *ahem* adult packaging. I won't be embarrassed by pulling my HK lipstick out of my bag now!

I am drooling over the whole collection!!

hey jamilla!

I'm kinda the opposite :) I'm all about cuteness and don't mind in the least pulling out to apply...but I'm nutty anyway so the rules of the mature adult don't apply here hehehehe!

I do like the blush ;) I'll def indulge but I really am all about the pink and cuteness :)

Oh god I hate all of that cutesy twee rubbish, so cheap. I'm LOVING the way Mac has gone in their art direction.

hi anonymous!

So glad you're loving the collection! I admit that I love all the cutesy stuff big time! I think it's split down the middle..some of us love the black and edge of the new style packaging and some of us like the kawaii pink packaging :)

I guess so, although I think kawaii is a bit tacky for Mac. They were pushing it with that heatherette collection but at least Rich and Travis have that self-awareness when it comes to their designs. I think women should grow out of that cutesy stuff when they hit 18 years old, once you're an adult it's time for a bit of class and finess! It's slightly embarassing to see a grown woman still clutching onto her Hello Kitty when a seven year old girl is doing exactly the same.

hi again anonymous!

Mmmm I don't feel the same...I kinda dig the kawaii aspect. I guess the girlish aspect is appealing to me. I suppose you should leave it behind but that's the fun of always having some spirit of your youth left behind :)

I'm not embarrassed so much...pretty proud of enjoying the cuteness of life that's ok if the 7 year old next to me has the same compact lol!

I guess it just depends on what your style is....chic and elegant or girlish and cute.

It looks cute, but nothing that I was expecting. Like you said, I was expecting pink and rhinestones. Poopie. When is the collection coming out anywho?

December 16, 2008 at 12:43 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ah but don't you think being girlish and cute at 30 years old strikes as slightly pathetic?

It's one thing to maintain the spirit of youth and another to clutch at something that you just jave to admit has passed.

But I guess it depends on your taste level ultimately..

hiya again anonymous.

No I don't think it's pathetic in the least. If so that would account for quite a few women that have expressed the fact they would have loved a pink version of the product.

I'm unsure how this became an issue of age :) Fact of the matter is I just prefer pink and rhinestones compared to edgy black..whether or not that's childish or not is all how you view it I suppose but I'm sure quite a few people are convinced they'd have liked pink as well.

If you like the chicness of black that's great. I just happen to fall into the pink/cute category.

Hi Muse,

Call me old school but I like your version of HK better. The pink, girlish, rhinestone-ish is what HK is all about! Strip all of those down and slap the black cases on is really really wrong.

To Anonymous: a lot of us grew up with HK so it is very difficult to depart from that. MAC may try but I don't think most people prefer their packages. If you know Kimora Lee Simmons, she's been collaborating with HK for a while now and keeping the HK design the same. The only difference is she blings it up a notch.

hey dao whatcha doing lovie?

Amen! I'm all for old school HK :) Bring on the pink baby!

I agree that it's difficult to depart from the HK I grew up with....honestly it's not so much the black that's disappointing..the packaging just kinda looks cheap to me :P If they did black with a bit of sparkle maybe that'd be cool? Not sure but I'm not particularly impressed with this packaging.

Amen to Kimora she really brings the bling to HK! hehe

Hi Muse,

I do agree with you on the packaging. I think the packaging is not really Japanese-oriented as I always imagine, it's more Americanize and the black compact is not as nice. I've been on the fence with a lot of MAC collections lately. The colors are very similar and I don't see any needs to get their LEs anymore, which is kind of sad to me.

I'm just catching up on today's blog reading. How about you?

amen dao! I think that's my biggest beef for me..it's not asian enough if possible lol :) I'm kinda depressed...I really wanted to love this...of course I'll indulge but I'm still on the fence :(

I'm good...swamped as always but hanging tight :)

How are you dear?

I'm in the middle. I love kawaii-ness, and I love the grown-up-ness. In this case, grown-up ness wins - simply because it works. I dig that it's more "mature" looking, and still has a cutesy feel!

im sorta split with this. even though its not as cute as it could be i think that one or two things from the collection are pretty cute! and im really digging the little kitty imprint in the lipsticks~~

some of the colors of the eyeshadow pallettes are similar to that of another collection yes? i cant remember which collection that was but either way i missed out and i think i might get one of the HK ones instead.

maybe 'simpler' packaging means it'll be more usuable. as much as i love collection cute items i think its more worth it when you can actually put it to use. so as you can see im split on this one.. im still excited, but not as much as i could have been.

what's up? I'm sorta on the kawaii line all the way :) I like grown up but not so much the black packaging :P that threw off the cute feel le sigh!

hi ceci!

I gotta admit that I def want some of it but I'm just somewhat crushed they choose black...I could possibly deal if it was black with maybe gems on the cover? sigh :( But the imprints sure are adorable :) agreed!

They sure are...it reminds me of the Heaterette Trio. It's good you missed that b/c now you can nab the HK ones instead :) yay!

I'm kinda excited but also a bit disappointed..than again I just like to rant hehe.

I hope the shades out beat the packaging and have me raving :) the blush sure looks good so far!

Meh, this collection doesn't do anything for me, but I'm not much of a HK fan.

I do love MAC HK cosplay model; she looks like Minny Mouse's edgy older cousin, Kinky Kat. But if it doesn't float your boat, I'll just wear the Hello Kitty costume tonight, instead.

The black version of Hello Kitty has been around in Japan for quite a while now, so while the MAC HK design may not seem Japanese, it is. It's supposed to be a little more grown up and trendy. (The actual makeup colors on the other hands.. What is up with that?!)

In fact, there are several different versions of HK now but I think most countries outside Asia don't carry the other kitties and maybe that's why people have such a strong image of HK only being the traditional white HK.

But Muse, you really need to visit Japan. You'll be in heaven with all the hk stuff!

PS- There's a Christmas black hk out right now (http://www.sanrio.co.jp/goods/200811/vx_xmas/vx_xmas.html). And goods for New Years http://www.sanrio.co.jp/goods/200811/kt_eto/kt_eto.html. More cute stuff at http://www.sanrio.co.jp/goods/character/hellokitty/index.html too.

hi en!

I've seen the black version in styles too in our sanrio store here but it never appealed :(

We have a few versions too such as the glamor fluffy one...etc...I really love, love that one. I know they felt they were going very mature with the design but I think we all expected some traditional shades....i agree the shades in the palettes..wth?

I've been to Japan! Japan is surreal..it's quite like another world :) I must say that the HK stuff is ridiculously crazy as is everything else...it's all overdone and just absolute love...it's quite a culture shock as well!

ahhhh! *runs in circles* that looks fab..we don't yet have these designs here...sanrio has really evolved and they have quite a few new items but not nearly as much as you'd get in Japan. I visit the store at least once or twice a month ;) I fear my stash of HK is as wicked big as my cosmetic collection!

Thanks for your comment and btw I love your blog!

Thank you for the reply.

I love your blog too! (If you haven't already figured that out. =) )

So I guess you have seen all the Hello Kitty craziness! I'm not sure how anyone could collect all that stuff. I've been trying to collect a HK cell strap from each city I visit but it's just not possible to get them all!

ah muse, we're so alike that perhaps we might be peeking inside the windows looking at all the cute hello kitty on the store's displays and tugging our mammy's skirt to get us all those HK trinkets and stationery back when we're kiddies. I agree that there's always a lil girl inside (almost) all of our mature self, kicking and screaming to be let out. that's why we'd go ga-ga over the new barbie collection or cutesy trinkets (hello prada & LV keychains). So, I wouldn't mind at all pulling out a hello kitty compact mirror when a 5-year old girl next to me pull out hers.

I'm all for kawaii version, but I would hold off my opinion on MAC hk until I see the collection with my own eyes. Who knows by then, the lil girl in me is biting my heart from the inside telling me to go buy the whole launch!
