Chanel Poudre Precieuse Gold Highlighting Powder Review, Swatches, & FOTD

The Muse is all about Chanel today! She was saving this post for a rainy day but she's feeling rather generous so today she'll bring you a review of Chanel Poudre Precieuse aka Chanel Gold Highlighting Powder aka holy cow this is expensive and so worth it!

Yes indeed the Muse skipped down to Nordie's a few weeks ago and purchased Chanel Gold Highlighting Powder for $75 USD.......I can hear the cries of agony, the sighs of pain, the shouts of "but what about tightening your belt Muse! The economy is at war with itself!".

Yes, yes I know the price is pretty high but I dare you...I double dog dare you to head into Nordie's...look at the powder...and deny yourself. Go on do it. I'll wait here until you get back.....bet you'll be carrying a shopping bag with your Chanel Gold Highlighting Powder tucked up inside when you do get back!

To justify the cost we should all remind ourselves that this is a huge old pot of delicious, sparkling, shimmering, ridiculously luscious gold powder. Am I tempting you yet? This is a large jar so it's not as if you're paying $75 USD for a dinky little jar of gold powder.....there's enough gold powder inside to last you a few decades if not more.....see? I'm justifying why you should be dishing out your $75 bucks for this!

On top of being some of these most gorgeous gold powder I've ever laid eyes on, it also happens to multitask as a face, eye, and body powder! For my FOTD I used Chanel Poudre Precieuse Gold Highlighting Powder on my eyes, my cheeks, and I sprinkled a tiny bit on my lashes when they were still wet with mascara for a bit of a golden gleam!

The powder is silky smooth and beautifully pigmented. You can build color up for an intense sparkling effect or a very subtle golden glow, the choice of how much to use is entirely up to you. This comes with a large silky brush that fits the contours of my cheeks perfect and allows for evenly distributing the powder across my face and if I'm using it on my body the extra large brush allows me to sweep it on evenly for a perfect golden glow!

Do you need it? Yes. I'm passionate about gold powders and eye shadows and honestly this is some of the best I've come across in all my year's of collection cosmetics! The gold sparkle is simply divine and allows for a sophisticated sparkle or a really vibrant burst of gold! Who doesn't want a bit of golden sparkle during the Holiday season? Is it worth the price? Yes, for sure considering how large a jar you'll be getting and how much product is inside plus it's ability to multitask as a body, cheek, hair, eye, etc...product makes the $75 USD price tag very worth it.

All in all Chanel Poudre Precieuse Gold Highlighting Powder is on my Holiday Collection Favorite's List and I'm happily Muse Approving it for purchase! If you've been denying yourself all season long now is a great time indulge in a gorgeous powder to make yourself beautiful and more importantly, sparkly for the Holidays!

As I mentioned above for my look below I used the powder as an eyeshadow, some on my cheeks, and a bit sprinkled on my lashes!

Hey , I think what you are doing is actually stimulating growth in the economy...if nobody buys stuff there will be less money flowing in the system and more people will be out of jobs...

PS. It looks so nice on your cheeks, like little precious freckles!

ahhhhhh i LOVE this powder!! i bought mine a few weeks ago... when i first saw it, the price tag made me hyperventilate.. i was thinking to myself "hell if i shell out that kind of money for this glorified pixie dust"... but let me tell you, i couldnt get the damn thing out of my head.. i kept looking at the swatch on my hand on the drive home, feeling myself weakening.. i was thinking about it non stop during the day and dreaming about it at night...

on my MUA review i wrote that i wanted to buy it an engagement ring and marry it lol.. that is how much i love this stuff...

it looks gorgeous as an eyeshadow, and adds sparkle to just about any area of your body.. you lips, cleavage, neckline, around your eyes, ANYWHERE!!

im so glad i snatched this beauty up =)... btw, did you check out the gold shine glossimer muse? absolutely GORGE!!!

btw, if you havent seen it yet i wrote you a response regarding the foreign films =)

you know, i always love that kind of brush! i started using one from my YSL Semi-Loose Powder and it got me searching for more. there is one from Laura Mercier but it's too big. This one, however, looks just right.

And oh the gold powder! just gorgeous! You look great with it on!

Oh, swoon...
I love it. I´m not sure if that came out in Europe at all. There was a domed pressed gold powder in the fall collection, did that come out in the US too? Maybe we got one version and you another?

Looks really lovely on you (envy)!

$75.00 is a small price to pay for a piece of heaven! Wow, that powder looks awesome and I WANT! I bet a little goes a long way, too...that's enough to justify the purchase for me.

I'm a big fan of your blog! Before I purchase things I check out your reviews and they are so helpful.

Thanks for sharing your wealth of glamour knowledge. YOU.ARE.AWESOME!

Have a great weekend!

this golden eye shadow is very warm and look nice on u ;p really nice

this time i wanna hear ur idea about the Guerlain's new foundation,
Parure Fluides

is much more expensive than my expectation, $60 CAD
(the HD foundation from Make up forever is $40 CAD)

it has a strong nice smell, i decide to give it a try.
But i would still love to hear ur opinion about it.

OH muse, i just noticed that you have so many readers BUT NONE COMMENT?!?!?!

how so! outrageous! (lol, even though i did the same)

but i noticed this review and i felt compelled to comment.

Okay, lets start with how you have convinced me to buy this 0_0

this is horrible especially because in canada, it isn't 75$ but more like 95$

forking 100$ is going to cause me some painns in the heart but the way you say it will last a lifetime and a little more will make me happy enough to buy it >___<

thanks MUSE(LOL), for hurting my wallet even moore

ps. still love you tho!!!

Ugh stop tempting me..!!!!! :)

Oh yes I'll answer it shortly..can't wait to read it!

hi nutty!

Umm they are completely different items. One is a pressed powder and one is loose. One is gold and one is beige...quite vastly different.

I think both are a must get :) The dior is an ideally perfect subtle pressed powder with shimmer where as the chanel is more of a vibrant sparkling powder! :)

Hope this helps! I've reviewed both with pics so you can view the Dior one and this one to compared and see which you love most!

Hope this helps!

Hi!
Doesnt Lancome have a silver version of this? Have U seen it? I saw a pic of it, a silver dust LP. Ohh.. it's lovely! But I think Im leaning more towards the quad. I REALLY REALLY want tt. The quad is $83 here so kinda steep. Dilemma!

yea they do but funny thing is I haven't seen it ANYWHERE! So weird!

Eeep that is expensive..the quad is gorgeous :)

Hmm, it does look tempting, but I prob won't buy it. Since I have rosacea, yeah, I got treated and got a little better. Still those ugly patches on my cheeks, my nose and my chins irritate me. This powder is chunkier than dior and EL. Oh well, but that saved me big bucks!! Midnight butterfly radiant powder-I tried it in the store and I got itchy afterward.. (They were sold out a couple days later, talk about shopping spree)

Thats being said, I will shell out bucks for Estee lauder one sometime soon. Hugs Muse for your awesome review and comparison!

Blogger the Muse said...

hi vivian!

Aww sorry to hear about your rosacea :(

It's def a heavier texture compared to the dior and EL.

I think you prob experienced itchiness b/c of the scent :P That could be a prob!

You're most welcome my dear and hugs back! Can't wait to hear how you like the EL!
