The Muse Does New York Comic Con

My friend Angel, Stefan, Nick and I are headed to Comic Con this weekend!

Wahoooooooooooooooooo!

Anyone in New York headed over? If so do e-mail me maybe we can meet up and discuss geeky bits and some cosmetics too!

Some of thee most awesome people are going to be at Comic Con this year such as...drum roll please...Neil Gaiman, Guillermo Del Toro, Doc Hammer, Stan Lee, Grant Morrison, and a slew of other geeky people that the Muse will be bowing down to this weekend! Oh wait scratch that Doc Hammer isn't so special! That man whores himself at every convention!

I'm particularly excited about Neil Gaiman as he'll be doing a reading! So awesome! I've been in a funk for the past few days so this will surely cheer my gloomy self up!

For details on purchasing tickets click on over to the website and maybe join the Muse in a day of Geeky fun!

What's your weekend looking like?

Any special plans?

Sleeping Late?

Going out?

Tell the Muse all about it!

P.S. I'm a bit behind today on posts and comments! I'll do my best to catch up!

I liked (but didn't love) Coraline and think Neil Gaiman is a bit of an Emo hack; he makes JK Rowling look like freakin' Wordsworth (and JK only writes rubbish, entertaining though it is).

Guillermo Del Toro, well, that's a horse-face of a different color. Guillermo is an ARTISTE, so if you see him at Comic Con:

A) Tell him that your very cute friend absolutely loves his work.

B) Give him a kiss from me, and

C) Takes a picture! Pleaazzz!

Working...been that way since February, unfortunately. I'm shipping next week too, so it's a bit crazy at work. This week hasn't been my week either. Got into an email war this morning with an idiotic vendor who doesn't even know how to zoom in on Acrobat Reader and instead blamed me for sending a document with small fonts - font 10 in CAPITALS!

Anyways, sorry for the rant. You have great fun over the weekend for the both of us, yah?

I wish I could go with you, Muse! Tell me if you run into any manga artists or if you see any interesting manga/anime while there!

I'm afraid I'm not much for American comics, at least not the traditional ones like Superman, Spiderman, etc.

Have fun!

Have fun at Comic Con! I LOVE Neil Gaiman and I'm so jealous that you get to hear him read.

So I finally decided to actually conduct the DressCamp giveaway. It kind of pains me to let go of the palette but it's for the great good (or so I keep telling myself)!

Let us know how Comic Con is! I love that you're into cosmetics and geeky things!!

!!!!!!!! You're going to Comic Con?! Oh you're so lucky! I've always wanted to go but since I can't travel every year I want to bash myself in the head since I know it's comin' around. As it is, I already missed Texas Frightmare (and Robert Joy was there, goddammit! I swear, I'm going to be kicking my own ass for that for years to come) and oh how I wish I could go to Comic Con with you.

Have a wonderful time, my dear Muse! And buy lots of dorky geeky wonderful stuff while you're at it!

Love,
the Angelique!

Hey Muse,

Did you have a great time? It does sound very geeky, but I have many other geeky interests too. I guess we can't obsess about makeup ALL the time, just most of it!

Hope you have a better week and you are feeling better.

Big hugs,
Critty

hiya Mandy! Happy Monday ;)

Gaiman has his highlights. I like the goth in his work. JK Rowling is brilliant in my humblest. Entertaining, fantastic imagination, etc...I think they both deserve credit for the imagination of it all at the very least ;)

GdT is truly a master at what he does. He's pretty brilliant and brings to life a genre that's slowly becoming extinct in my opinion. How rare are films like his?

LOL I did C but I didn't do A and B. I was worried he'd ask "so where is she?" I did however get a hug. It be GdT hug time now ;)

hehe!

He's a generally nice guy although he reminds me of a hermit. Takes ages to reply to a question as if he is mauling it over before saying what is on his mind ;)

Want me to email the pic?

hi Ethereal Prey!

Oh my god luck you! Interning for DC that must be dream like ;) It was really great. I took quite a load of pics. I'm more of a manga reader than a standard comic fan but I couldn't refuse with some of the uber ultra cool guests ;)

how about you?

hey taryn!

Me too! :) They had quite a bit of manga at the store tables which was awesome but nothing really "spoke" to me. I think I'm burned out!

I'm not into standard dc either but I love manga myself.

But I go anyway for the standard geeky bits and bobs you run across at a comic convention. Just the guests were awesome as well :)

NG has his moments, but that's about it. Don't get even get me started on JK: yeah, her work is entertaining and addictive, but so is crack and that costs less, ultimately. That said, I still prefer Harry Potter to crack (less aftertaste).

A picture, you say? Oh, yes Please! Do send it over! I must sees it!

Guillermo de Torro is a God amongst men. He seems like your wacky uncle who's slowly inching his way out of the closet. You can do it, Guillermo!

I really hope he directs the Hobbit, as planned.

Also, I bees blog, blogging away for you all week! Why you no stops by? You no loves me anymore?!?

On a side note: Are you planning to see the new Iron Man movie? I wasn't going to when I first heard about it, because it sounded like rubbish. But then I saw the trailer. Robert Downey Jr. is a frickin genius! Even Fishsticks Paltrow hasn't ruined this one for me, and she usually turns every movie to dust.

'ello mandy my little pandy ;)

Mmm NG is someone you either really love or just feel lukewarmly about. Many of my friends are on the fence about his work too. I personally adore him not as much as terry pratchett but definately a close 2nd ;)

LOL. I think she's brilliant. Quite a mastermind in my humblest but this goes to say I am still on the verge of savoring deathly hallows. I haven't yet read it you know. The time isn't right yet ;)

Surely. Gotta empty out my digicam and will send over.

LOL! That's quite an image of GdT! I'd get that image more with Victor Salva....uncle..closet...yes Victor Salva hits the head on that :)

I hope so too.

I had thought Peter Jackson would be in the running for the Hobbit but if GdT can bring the goth to it I wouldn't mind ;)

Iz seen but Iz haz no time to comment :) I lurve you like candy :)

No. Iron Man cannot be brought to hand by RDj sadly. Not for anyway. Sorry. RDj has my vote for awesome but not for Iron Man. So I'm boycotting. Plus comics always come out sadly wrong and corny on screen although I sorta kinda gives props to NC for trying to be Johnny Blaze and failing miserably but than again not his fault as they took so many liberties with Ghost Rider it was obscene.

As for Paltrow...let's not go there as we'll be talking all damn day ;)

Did/do you have any favorite manga titles, Muse? I'm still into it, but I'm finding it harder and harder to find ones I like. Death Note spoiled me. Mindless shojo just can't compare!

I just ordered the entire set of Banana Fish manga the other day. I read the first two books and I'm hooked! It's an older series.

Also, this is off-topic but I'm too lazy to make a separate comment. I was wondering if you thought all of the MAC stores are sold out of the Dress Camp palette. I'm cursing not getting one. It didn't appeal to me until you said the one color was similar to Golden Lemon, which isn't eye safe and thus I don't use it. I'm always so late to get on the bandwagon and the prices on ebay are outrageous!! :(

hey taryn

I admit to being a perv as I am sometimes reading hentai titles. *blush*

Death Note is fab. Are there any particular genres you prefer?

Also are you a heavy metal fan?

Banana Fish I never got around to finishing. It was too HC for me.

have you read kingdom come? also walking dead. AM in nature by the way :(

def gone. :( Have you seen Jen's contest? Give it a try maybe?!

It's a dup to golden lemon in my opinion! If I had gotten an extra I'd have gladly given it to you :(

I've used GL on my eye. Believe the older v was no good for the eye but the newer is perfectly safe!

Maybe press it out prior to use?

Sorry for my delayed reply. Been having some major emotional baggage and I'm slow with comments :(

Hugs darling!
