Musings of a Muse

A Blog of Musings from a Cosmetic Whore

Beautiful is Christmas in Japan

Here in the US we have our fair share of gorgeous cosmetics but you know that my heart always lays with the gorgeous collections that my most favorite Japanese brands put out for the Holiday season!

What better way to learn all about what's coming out this season then visiting with the Muse's very good mate Iris at Rouge Deluxe!

Iris has been making the Muse very happy with all her posts about the goodies that Lavshuca, MJ, Paul and Joe, Gransenbon, and many other brands have in store for us this Christmas Season!

Some of the items I am looking forward to this Holiday Season are included in this little blog entry!

The entire Majorca Majolica collection! Iris has just posted the details and the Muse is drooling in delight at what's being offered!

Two (not one but two! Celebrate good times come on!) new Majolook Line Impact palettes! Oh my and one looks purple with shimmery bits and pieces! Go right ahead and count the Muse in as being excited about these! If you'd like a look at past Majolook palettes please see my prior blog Spolight on Majorca Majolica by clicking here.

Lash Freeze Glitter Mascara! OH.MY.GOD! You know I want this don't you? Count me in for two of these please! I love the old glitter mascara they introduced and this is on my MUST MUST MUST HAVE TO HAVE OR DIE LIST! Oh sorry was I being a bit too dramatic? Glitter does that to me.

And finally Snow Carat Face Powder which sounds like something very yummie that I must have as well ;)

MJ looks like it's coming out with quite a gorgeous range for Christmas! You can see the pictures, prices, and first impressions from Iris by visiting her here.

Next up on the list is Lavshuca's two new Holiday palettes! The packaging on these looks adorable! You can see both by clicking here and here. Puffy's back as Lavshuca's model for the palettes! Yes, I know I know everyone is groaning but the Muse likes Puffy! I'm not entirely sure I'm loving her hair in these promo images but I still think she looks gorgeous! Anyway enough babbling about Puffy back to the palettes! The palettes are a bit weird in color as these appear more Autumn than Winter however they both look quite nice and too good to use! Beauty Vault anyone? They consist of three strips of shadows and two lip creams! Yum the Muse is writing her Letter to Santa now!

Dear Santa,

Please bring me two each of the new Lavshuca palettes and I'll be sure the cookies are extra good this year! Promise!

Much love, the Muse!

Sonia Rykiel has caught my eye with the sparkling face powders they are introducing for the season! You can click over here and see them. I'm thinking all three need to make an appearance under my Christmas tree!

Aube Christmas
line looks pretty darn nice as well! The new Jewelry Shower eye palette has caught the Muse's eye! If you'd like to see the past Jewelry Shower eyes click here.

My Japan/Asian wish list is growing quickly and I'm happy that most of my US shopping has been done (aside from the MAC bits that have to make an appearance). The Muse has to go count her pennies and see about making all these wonderful items her very own ;)

Visit with Iris on Rouge Deluxe for your Japanese Beauty fix but don't say I didn't warn you! Japanese makeup makes you broke and poor kids! Don't be annoyed when the Muse says "I told you so!" when she hears your wallet screaming in pain!

Look for these at your favorite Japanese online shops starting around the end of the month and the beginning of November!

I wannaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa here you guys talk! Comment! Tell me what you are getting this year from these lines or other Japanese lines!

Hi Muse,

I saw Iris' post and instantly started drooling myself. Did you go see the Biteki special section online? Bad mistake.

I am liking the Snow Carat & of course the Magie Deco. Btw, Magie Deco is pretty much Lunasol but under a Kose brand. It lasted well during a normal work day.

Hugs & Cheers!

hey betsy ;)

totally in lust with the MJ and drooling!

I haven't hit Biteki yet! I was trying to get a copy of October's issue! I did hit the Voce site and seen some piccies! Is the special section good?!!?!? I'm heading over to the website right now heheheh!

I'm loving all the MJ and it's so inexpensive it's worth picking up doubles!

Hmmm interesting! I'm lemming MD anyway so this is an excuse for me to give it a try! I love Kose period so I'm very curious! You should send me FOTD's!

I got your comparisons of the Classic Rock and Platinum and you're utterly right! They are totally worth buying both as they are completely different! So those are on my wish list!

Also the MD palette looked fantastic!

I really have to answer your emails! My inbox looks like hell at the moment so I try to refrain from actually entering it!

Tomorrow ;) Promise!
hehe!

Love ya!

Bets,

just back from the Biteki site and I'm loving the presentation of the Dior, Lancome, and Givenchy!

I was talking to PJ about the Dior and it appears we are only getting the crummy brown color here in the US so that's an utter skip unless I have my mate CP it from England for me or I can get it when I'm over if it's still around! I'm lemming the pink but the beigey color is doing nothing for me!

The YSL palette is making me want it more and more but I need it like a whole in the head!

The Beaute de Kose palette is uber nice so that may be on the wish list!

The RMK is damn nice too but I can safely skip on it I think!

the new cle de peau looks nice as well but I'm not thrilled! this is what we get for our beloved testimo? Sheesh!

Shu Uemura not so impressed may ski p those as I already have a double chin and don't need the bronzey blush making me look fuller than I already am!

Totally need the Givenchy Exclusive. Are you nabbing that?

The Ayura looks fab! I have none and PJ's been telling me how cute it is so I'm tempted!

the Elegance is AWESOME! Very nice I think I need those!

and the KP is looking hot as well! As is the Awake! But I'm wondering should I get the Neiman's Awake LE or get this kit!

Like the esprique precious but I know I can always nab that after the holidays on jpmon they keep it in stock years later!

Oh my god the is the mosiac powder Aube?! YAY! I want that for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for pointing this out! I didn't think it was up and available online yet! I snuck onto Voce and seen the updates but not Biteki!

Wahoo!

Anyway you've made my wish list triple and of course I don't like you anymore for that ;)

hehehehe!

Love ya!

Hello m'dear!

Well, I'm actually not getting anything from any Japanese brand, on account of not even knowing where or how to get anything since I live in the ninth layer of hell known of Texas.

Not only that, it all seems way too cutesy and girly for me. The girliest I can manage is stuff like MAC's Barbie Loves MAC collection and anything in that vein. But the cute little fairy-princess stuff like Jill Stuart and Majorca Majolica just makes me want to brain myself with a fireaxe and go watch a bloody violent movie like the "Saw" series (speaking of which, I have such a crush on the actor who plays the Jigsaw killer! I can't wait for part four to come out.). I'm really and truly not a girly-girl. I'm actually happy that I'm not-- I can't imagine myself in pink and watching romantic comedies and wanting to look all pretty for the boys and being scared of bugs and snakes. Nope, I'm happy with my horror films and action figures and my love of odd and unusual makeup colors.

I will say that the only Japanese/Asian brand I'm a fan of is Anna Sui. And even though I know she's American, her stuff really isn't sold here. I love it! Her line rivals Versace in terms of gigantic variable color spectrum and just fantastic products! My favorite is absolutely the lipsticks. Blue glitter, black glitter, multi-color glitter, a green glitter lipgloss ring...it's all fabulous! I wish Sephora still carried Anna Sui.

Might I just say that the Anna Sui Holiday Collection pictures that were posted at Rouge Deluxe made me curse and scream at the fact that there's no way I'll be able to get my hands on 'em. Oh sure, we can put out sixteen million different beige and nude lipsticks and lipglosses and fuckin' metric tons of self-tanner but we can't carry Anna Sui? Thanks a lot, you distributer jackasses!

....I'd best go before I whip myself up into more of a frenzy than I already have.

Have a good night, my dear!

P.S.: On your MM entry where you talk about the Majewel Collection, something that caught my eye was the Splashing Blue mascara. It looks to be jelly-like in consistency. It reminds me, in color and in texture, of Givenchy's Eyelashcolor mascara-gloss. Is it a gel? If so, then you've basically already got Eyelashcolor gloss! Neat, aye?

I still do want to try Stila's Wet Mascara simply because Givenchy's is a fiendish limited edition (so is Stila's, now that I think about it...). Do you know of any company who puts out a mascara like either Eyelashcolor or Wet Mascara as part of their permanent line? (I know of Bourjois, but I don't really like theirs for some reason)

Hi Muse,

Sorry for the late reply. Looking at Biteki made my list triple too...

Good to know about JPMon keeping Esprique in stock later. I'm considering the Givenchy but it looks like 1/2 of the caviar & pearls and I have that.

The elegance is expensive but it is very cute. I liked the Anna Sui more than I expected.

I haven't decided on the E-Mook. I keep going back and forth.

Hope you have a good day!

Hugs & Cheers!

Hey Betsy *hug*

It's ok! No apologies needed :)

God yes! My list is outrageous now and to think I was doing so well with the US releases as nothing great caught my eye aside from the MAC, Guerlain, and Givenchy!

ya jpmon always has it left over and hijapan!

I was thinking the Givenchy looked similar to something I already had too but it's still in debates for me :)

The elegance is a bit over the top. I believe it's $78usd! I'm loving the Anna Sui myself!

EEP the list is growing!

I think maybe I'll skip on the e-mook. I already have a JS mirror and as much as I wanna see the couture I think it's safe to say I can do it online on the site if anything!

Hugs back my friend!

Hello Angelique!

I'll be doing a Japanese blog soon about where to purchase! I haven't had time to map it out fully as of yet ;) but I will be! hehe!

My aunt lives in Texas :) Houston!

I think the reason many of us favor Japanese brands is because it's so girly! lol! LOL a crush on the jigsaw killer? You've surpassed me in weirdness my friend lol!

I do so hate to disappoint but I love pink and I am scared silly of bugs lol!!!!!!!!!

Anna Sui is quite goth! You really have to love the line! And the colors are very vibrant so that should be fitting with what you love ;)

I wish Sephora carried it too! God that was ages back!

You can definitely find very wonderful, friendly Singaporeans willing to CP anna sui for you on cozy and MUA :)

LOL ;) I'm positive with a bit of hard work you can locate some Anna Sui on E-bay, online shops, or MUA :) The Muse promises!

You have a great day!

the MJ isn't really that gel like but it most definately makes the lashes blue!

YAY good news that it's like Givenchy's Eyelashcolor! One less thing to lem!

I've never tried any Stila Mascara I'm somewhat of a snob when it comes to Mascara and a majority of my mascara is Japanese!

Hmmm a wet mascara...I dunno...let me think...ummm....

bourjois paris clip ons are all great and they have a wet blue gloss! poop that's no help. Just checked they no longer have the snap ins! That sucks!

However, the maxi frange is a fav of mine!

http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P145705&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=1958

and it comes in green and blue!!!!!!! I have both and love those!

I have to look through my stash and let ya know ;)

Hello again!

Since my back IS crap tonight, this shall be kinda short. So! a list:

1. Yes I do indeed have a crush on the Jigsaw Killer! I have really weird taste in men--always have. Most of the men I find attractive are primarily older--MUCH older--than I am. I'm twenty-two, and the typical age range of my actor-crushes is about thirty-five-to-sixties. My mum thinks I'm insane and most of my friends thought I was pretty nutty too. And most of the actors I think are to-die-for cute are more or less horror film actors and sci-fi actors. Probably the most mainstream or 'normal' actors I have crushes on are Alan Rickman, Sam Neill, William H. Macy, Thomas Jane, Robert Downey Jr, Bill Nighy, Steve Buscemi and Crispin Glover. The rest of my list is made up of actors that a lot of people haven't even heard of. But it's all good. Thankfully! my wife-to-be has the same taste in men that I do and likes the same actors. Women too.

2. Awww, you don't disappoint me at all! Hell, I've known men that scream like little princesses at the sight of a spider so you definitely don't disappoint me in any way! I was just an odd child growing up: I spent all my time outside in a pair of shorts looking for pillbugs and earthworms and playing with spiders. When I was in middle school I had a pet tarantula-- my dog ate it, the damn fool thing. I always wanted a python but mum never would let me get one. Now that I have squirrels and rats I couldn't have one anyway: I love rodents too much to feed one to a python.

3. Anna Sui is uberly goth! But it's goth in a pretty colorful vibrant happy way. It's not goth in that silly Hot Topic mall way, y'know? I love stuff with bright colors and glitter and innovative designs/packaging so when I found Anna Sui I about died of joy. Here was my kind of stuff! I bought some stuff off of Sephora while they still had it but then they liquidated it and I had to look elsewhere. Anna Sui's cosmetic site doesn't even work anymore so the only places I can buy it are places like Strawberrynet and eBay. It kinda sucks but it's better than nothing, y'know? I just wish there was a way to get the new collections. (and while I'm registered on MUA, I don't have any tokens or points or anything and I don't really have anything anyone would want to trade for. It's mostly effects makeup and the stuff I do know other women would want is the stuff I want! Stuff like my Givenchy stuff and my Dior eyeshadow palettes and stuff like that.)

4. Ha, I'm a bit of a mascara snob too! My favorite mascaras so far are Dior's Diorshow and Diorshow Blackout, Givenchy's Captiv'Eyes, Burjoris' Maxi Frange--I LOVE the huge effect it does with my already pretty long lashes-- and Givenchy's Eyelashcolor. I'm dying to try Burjois Maxi Frange in blue and green-- I love to turn my lashes blue and green. Green looks the best on me. I'd like to try Givenchy's Eye Fly mascara and Fresh's Supernova mascara, too. I love long long lashes.

(I love false eyelashes too. I just can't put 'em on fer shit--my joints are too unstable. I need a false eyelash applicater. I know Sephora makes/sells them and so does Shu Uemura. I really need to buy one and then start buying falsies again. Shu's got some new ones out right now in his Tokyo Lash Bar 2007 collection, called Lucent Sky I want to say. I've got a MAJOR lemming for those!)

Please do look through your collection to see if there's some other kind of gel mascara-- I'd appreciate it like you wouldn't believe! And if you have any good recommendations on blue and green mascaras I'd love to hear 'em.

And even though I'm not fond of Japanese brands (so far anyway) I'm excited as hell that you're thinking of doing another blog! I love your blog right now and I know I'd love another blog from you simply because we really do have extremely similar tastes in makeup and it's really nice to find someone else that likes what I like.

Anyhows. This is a LOT longer than I thought it was going to be (oy I really can't shut up can I?) so I'm going to go lay down.

Shall talk to you soon! Hopefully this weekend you and me or you me and a group can do some sort of chat! I'll try to make my back cooperate.

Good night my dear!

hello Angelique

Hope your back is better as I am late replying :)

LOL nothing wrong with liking older men =) you got quite a list of crushes there! I have a crush on Bill Murray hehe. So that's a weird one for sure!

oh my god your dog ate your spider? was he sick? holy cow how terrifying and gross hehe!

Mmmm Anna Sui definitely appeals to my inner goth side :) but it also keeps the ideal "girlish" image as well which is a fabulous contradiction!

I enjoy well packaged cosmetics myself :)

I'm lucky enough to nab many of the Anna Sui items due to very kind friends in singapore and japan :) Phew! Too expensive on ebay!

Well you can offer CP service to someone who'd like something from the US that always works :) So if you order something from sephora or have someone pick it up for you and do a sorta swap :)

Gosh my fav mascaras are mostly japanese but I definitely love the maxi frange myself! I'm a big MJ supporter and cheerleader and most of my fotd's I'm using it! I also adore Kose's mascara! pain to get off but awesome!

the maxi frange in blue and green are brilliant! Sasa had them on sale for like 12.50 a while back ago!

I like falsies as well but I suck at putting them on too! I have the sephora applicator and it does nothing for good eyelash alignment! I normally go false on special occasions only! Too much worth for anything else!

The Tokyo Lash Bar is always appealing to me but I normally skip because I can't warrant a good place to wear the lashes too lol!

I sure will look and see what sort of bases are used in the mascaras I have :)

oh gosh I'm not doing another blog hehe. I'm teaming up with Janice at Specktra for a most happy union of Muse and Specktra :) I'm going to be a product Muse for Specktra. Specktra most targets the MAC market and Janice and I have discussed introducing something other than MAC to the blog :) which will be exciting!

Gosh I can barely keep up with Musings hehe! Another blog might be a bit too much :) But maybe soon!
I love sharing my passion of cosmetics with people that enjoy similar brands and types of cosmetics :)

LOL it takes me a sec to get through your comments but I do my best :)

a chat sounds great!!!!!!

thanks for your comment!
