Summer Must Have Makeup: Bourjois Paris Rouge Hi-Tech Review

Aren't random acts of kindness awesome?

I was discussing Bourjois Paris's New Rouge Hi-Tech a few weeks ago and one of my readers in England kindly e-mailed me soon after asking if I'd like a CP for it!

A big thanks goes out to Laura for helping the Muse out! Laura sent over my stain with a beautiful card that is now gracing my desk!

You can thank her for this review since this new stain is not yet available within the US as of yet!

At first glance the packaging misleads you into believing this is a creamy lip color however its very much a stain! I couldn't be more thrilled with this as my very favorite product from Bourjous Paris, Bons Baisers de Paris, has long since been gone from our shelves!

The packaging is identical to the Bourjois Paris Shimmer Shine Liquid Eye Shadow. Unscrew to reveal the top of the wand applicator, pop the applicator out, and you're ready to rock.

The formula is your typical gel like stain that's a deep rose pigment. These come in a few shade options and I got the deeper shade of pink available. I didn't find the formula drying in the least. Since this is a gel-like texture it goes on very moist and wet and leaves behind beautiful, pink lips. I love the look of "just bitten" lips or lips that look like I just had a cherry ice pop and this indeed gives me that look!

This is an ideal item for Summer and definately makes its way onto my Summer Makeup Must Have list simply because it's refreshing, light, extremely long wearing and gives a beautiful burst of color to my lips without being heavy!

I went ahead and got really random by applying it to my cheeks as well as my lips. I'm happy to report it doubles up as a killer cheek stain. Although I'm somewhat grossed out by using one product on my lips and cheeks (as you may have already read my distaste for this from my Stila Cherry Crush Review) I couldn't resist trying this out. It gave my cheeks a lovely blushing color! I was so taken with it on my cheeks that I may just need a back up bottle to use as a cheek stain!

Un-blended

Blended

I'm thinking at this price you can easily use it as a Benefit Benetint or Posietint dupe! You get almost identical results plus it's much, much cheaper! This was available on sale at Boots for £5.75 and will likely cost between $12 and $16 USD when it arrives on our side of the pond.

All in all Bourjois Paris has another winner on it's hands! Rouge Hi-Tech definately gets a hearty Muse Approval!

The Muse is loving the cost, loving the fresh look it creates, and really loving the packaging! What's not to like!

This morning I did a quickie FOTD using Bourjois Paris Hi-Tech Rouge on both my lips and my cheeks. I did two versions of the photo which shows me wearing the stain with and without gloss. I think the gloss really makes the color of the stain pop!

Hmmmm, interesting... you like it and it does look good on you!

I only tried it on my arm at Boots that time. Maybe I would have liked it better had I tried it on my lips... but with testers, I don't know, I don't like putting it on my face.

I may give it a go again though. :)

hi liz!

Thanks!

I don't blame you! I rarely test anything in store side from arm swatching! Too gross! It's worth trying out if it's cheap your side! I really LIKE it! I heard a few people say it's drying but it's gel like so I felt it went on wet and glossy!

Come back and tell us whatcha think if you do try it out :)

Love ya!

Hey Muse,
So glad you're doing a few lippie reviews this week, as I seem to be chucking all my money away on that stuff, lol. This colour is really pretty, very subtle, looks great on your lips. Am loving the idea of doubling it as a blush also. I haven't gotten into liquid blushes yet (although I do own Nars blush in Exhibit A which is AWESOME), so its a neat idea to get a product you can do both with. Will have to give this a try if it ever gets down to Australia.

Bourjois is an OLD love... i used to collect its entire loose eye shadow and blushes and many other stuff.

this is certainly something new to me. and i am not a lip stain user. BUT i am impressed by the pictures you posted, especially the last one as you look great.

(btw, this is my very first reply on your site but i have been a SERIOUS reader. :P)

Since you're on a lippie kick I'll do a few more ;) I'm doing a "Summer Must Have" for lips so that should be something good to look forward too ;)

If you like a pinch of color this is perfect. It blends super on my cheeks and lasted a good long time!

Exhibit A I haven't tried..Hmm! Must go check it out ;)

Multitasking products in the Summer are always a plus for me as I like to go a bit lighter with my makeup ;)

I hope it gets to you down under ;)

I so need to try one of those!

I love the idea of lipstain but so far I have'nt found any that I liked. Or I did find a great stain but the packaging sucked (Stila's Lip Rouge, great stain but the cap of the pen come of all the time wich make the pen tip dry = wasted money).

Then we have Cherry Crush, also a god stain but I find it almost impossible to get out of the klick pen dispenser.

The Body Shop's stain taste awful, and Urban Decay's Lip Envy had a weird smell...

Oh, this took a turn into a rant..sorry. But yoy can see that I've been through a couple of products in my search :D

I have to go online and look for the Bourjois stain :D
Thank you for a great rewiew!

hi lithiaBlack!

How are you!?

They are very worth your time. I'm looking forward to them popping up my side of the world!

Stains are everywhere but it's hard to find a good one that blends well and looks natural!

I never tried the Stila one but I've been tempted some.

UD makes one that's like the Stila and it's really quite like a magic marker. I LIKE it but it's kinda dark so I don't use it alot.

Really??? I got a few duds for Cherry Crush..click pen broke etc..but the ones that actually did work I didn't have to much prob with. The formula is excellent and I don't mind the click pen but I think a sponge applicator would have def been a nice idea!

I don't really like tbs one at all. It does taste bed and it's kinda like putting water on your lips. It's not pigmented enough either :P

Lip Envy I never had a prob with but I actually like this BP one much better. It has better pigmentation!

No no! Rant away! You're totally entitled :) I'm enjoying your take on stains :)

It's hard find the just right product. Are you within the US or UK? Sorry if I asked already and somehow forgot. If you're in the UK I highly recommend tracking done the BP pen style stains. VS makes a similar one if you're in the US...I haven't personally tried the VS version but the BP version is my all time favorite, must have item and I have a funny feeling it may likely still be available abroad!

You're most welcome!

Thanks for the great comment!

Always a pleasure speaking to you!

Hi again!

I'm fine, but are longing for my vacation weeks :)

I'm living in Sweden, the absolute backalley of the cosmetic world, so most of my make up shopping is done online or when I travel to Paris twice a year.

I looked for the BJ "magic marker" last time I was there but wasn't able to find it so I tried Cherry Crush. I think I might have bad luck and gotten a bad click pen or something. Because when I try to use it I got no product or a shit load of product. This kind of pisses me off so I don't use it a lot. It's a shame though, I love the smell, the taste and the flush of color the stain gives.

I've tried to find the UD "magic marker" too, but none of the shops I've found it in ships to Sweden.

It is a bit boring that the scandinavian drugstrore brands (we do have a few that has good quality) don't make stains. They all go for lipgloss or lipstick instead.

Well, I hope I can get my hands on some BJ stain soon :)

Nice talking to you, too.

/L

Hi Izzy, the summer collection of BP is out here but I don't recall seeing these stains. Hopefully it'll be coming in so can check it out. Looks very user friendly!

The click pen on Stila Cherry Crush is driving me mad! It takes FOREVER to dispense and being the impatient me, I've lost wasted some products with my overzealous clicking of pen.

TBS one is good as a cheek stain but not a lip stain. Too watery to stay put and dry properly.

gracie :)

hi lithiaBlack!

I bet! I know that feeling!

*smacks forehead* I think you told me that! Forgive me for forgetting?

Paris! w00t! Can I come?

Damn. I really love those things. I think they are long since gone :(

It really stinks b/c you can't return it :( they'd happily take it back here but I doubt you get the same CS in Sweden :( Sorry about that lovie.

It does taste lovely ;) doesn't it?

I don't even think UD has the magic marker anymore but I have seen it on E-bay! Have you tried the US Ebay site? They have ridiculously low prices on UD!

I adore stains for both my cheeks and lips. I'd be lost without them!

Hopefully we both can ;) Maybe it'll pop up soon!

Good talking to you too! Thanks for the comment ;)

hi there miss gracie.

Mmm they are available within the UK so far but maybe soon on my end and yours.

I love a good multitasking product.

Someone above just said they hated the click pen too and it was being a pain in the arse ;)

I do the overzealous kicking with my YSL pen and it's a big goop of highlighter that pops up ;)

TBS agreed! :( Doesn't work well as a lip stain at all blah :P

hi muse,

i finally received the bourjois rouge hi-tech in the shade 'groseille irreelle' and it's beautiful!!! the colour suits my skin tone (thank goodness) and it's the perfect pink shade for me! i have many pink blushes but they always seem to turn a peachy/nars orgasm kind of colour once applied, which is rather odd but this liptint maintains the same pink shade on my cheeks as well as my lips.

thanks for your help and thanks for this post! if it weren't this review, i probably would have never found my HG cheek/liptint product:):)

Hi, Muse!!

I love your blog!! ;-)

I have this product and I absolutely love it!! ^^ And it's good because you have 200,000 products in one. It's not only a blush and a liptint, but it can be several labials. Try applying several layers of it. The colour deepens to a dazzling red!! So you can get several shades with just one product ;-) And with a gloss on top, not only do you have 100,000 shades of liptint, but also 100,000 shades of gloss!! ^^

I also have rose pixel (#84). It's similar to groseille iréele, but less harsh. I'm so buying more of these products!! XD I want to try Benetint and Posietint, but I don't want to spend all that money right now... I'm in no rush to try them, I can wait, but one day they will be my victims!! XD

Thanks for all your lovely comments!
