Revlon Spring Collection 2008

I know, I know. Why the bloody hell am I posting about Revlon? So unlike me. I should put a disclaimer on this post to say I do not buy Revlon.

The reason I'm posting this is because much of my target audience flows in from abroad. I love you yanks but sadly you aren't my main reader quota.

We tend to take what we can get here in the US for granted and likewise for those of you around the world.

There in lays my inspiration for this post.

Something as simple as Revlon's Spring Collection may not yet be available around the globe (or available at all for that matter) so it's my responsibility as a good blogger to inform all my readers outside of the US what happening here in drgustores!

Yay me!

So I came across some of the Revlon Spring Collection at CVS when I was doing some personal shopping for Miss Rows at Mostly Makeup.

Here's what I came across (hold your applause until the end):

Revlon does this big deal about how limited these are but this isn't Japan which basically translates as you can get this crap for ages and ages and it never leaves the shelf. How limited is that? I think I'll sue Revlon for false advertisement! Remember when they released those Just Bitten Lip Stains 500 years ago? Oh sorry it was last year I think! Well those are still hanging around the shelf. Yay for limited edition products!

Anyway!

Here's the line-up, without further snarky, wise cracking commentary from me!

Floral Affair Sheer Powder Blush Available in 4 Color Selections

Make a Sheen Eyeshadow Palette Available in 4 Color Selections

Marble-ous Match Liner Available in 5 Shades

Soft on the Eye Sheer Loose Powder Eyeshadow Available in 3 Color Selections

Mix and Mingle Lip Palette Available in 6 Shade Selections

Prices range from around $6.99-$9.99 USD and most places have buy one get one 50% off type a deals depending on the sale at the tim!

I actually must say that collection is interesting! I won't personally buy any of it but it does appear rather nice to look at!

So...that's all folks!

Hope you enjoyed this brief foray into US Drugstore Brands (mind you Revlon is available almost everywhere in the world but unsure if this particular collection has reached shores other then our own here in the US).

Loving this?

Own it?

Despise Revlon as much as the Muse?

Tell me all about it!

i have seen most of that stuff here in the uk. i was very tempted but the blush costs £10 or £15 (cant remember which) and Mac blusher only costs about £14 and its 100 times better lol. it does look very pretty though!

I too am a makeup snob. HATE HATE HATE Revlon! I associate it with smelly waxy lipsticks and gross colors

awwww.. i was waiting for some deliciously snarky comments from you! don't deny!! Revlon is so stuck in the "me-too" phase trying to copy those younger, hipper, and cooler than them---don't they realize that it looks like they're trying too hard? I admit this collection is not bad to look at this time around, but the "desperately-wanting-to-be-cool" thing just detracts from any lust-worthiness.

Oh lord. They are on forever aren't they!?

Sheesh!

The collection looks pretty packaging wise which probably is what sells it.

the blusher does look kinda fun though doesn't it hehe!

Ohhh :) I think I'll hit Body Shop up too I haven't been in a while and I wanna see the blushing daises up close and person!

Do share your hauls if you get anything :)

Love ya!

Bloody hell that's expensive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was talking to my boyfriend the other night about differences in prices his side (he lives in mansfield) and my side and the price jacks are outrageous! I never shop makeup when I'm in the UK!

Our mac blushes are $17.50 USD!

Sheesh!

Cheers!
Thanks for comment!

hi Anonymous!

LOL I was calm wasn't I? Not too snarky :)

I think mostly with revlon is they try to capture both the youthful audience and the mature. WHich means you end up with a hodge podge mix of weird coloring with funky packaging.

The prior collection of diamond sparkle and such was one of those oh my god we are a hip brand. I def concur with you there.

all in all it's pretty packaging but we all know what's inside is utter garbage ;)

cheers!
thanks for the comment!

Luckily I didn't feel a compulsive urge to own all of this. Revlon is sadly not available in my part of the world and I did kind of like their stuff when they where available. At least the nail polishes and lipsticks...

but of course ;) If it wasn't for you I'd talk to myself in some posts hehehehehhe!

It probably will sadly :( But it looks so so pretty! I got a bronzey one like it a few years ago and the daisies stayed till the end which was cool!

hey Muse!

crap - are you psychic or something? i just bought these!!!

i know i know. utter horror, right? i think all the nori i've been eating's gone to my head. i'm all seaweeeeeded out duuuuuuude. i never thought there would be a day when i buy revlon.

it's funny, cause my mum (Eno's mum) used to be loyal to this one Revlon lipstick - i mean, the gal's been wearing it for 20+ years - holy smokin' seaweed!!! and then when i started dating her son, i gave her a lancome le rouge absolu and now she turns her nose up at Revlon...and i'm buying Revlon blushes...f*ck!!!

anyway, i actually read the MUA reviews on those blushers and they were surprisingly positive. so i thought what the hell, $6 can't hurt me too much. and plus i did give Avon a chance, so i just want to be fair and square to Revlon. this way, if those blushers turn out to suck balls (and then some), no one can blame me for being snotty.

will review them, no worries. and you know i'll be honest to Guhdllah.

I HATE Revlon with a passion...
Unpigmented eyeshadows, drying lippies, smelly mascaras. I only like their ColorStay liquid liner...which is NOT smudge/
waterproof, just affordable... I saw the blush and lip palette at Sony Plaza (did you go there while you were here?) and thought they looked cheap. I think other cheaper brands came out with better Spring collections...

i've never really liked revlon because it is so OVERPRICED in new zealand..... the last LE edition bedroom eyes whatever, the bare it all powder was retailing for $45nzd ($40usd!) in pharmacies - yes that is how ridiculously hiked up prices are here. revlon is not really seen as a drugstore brand here, for a small country it has the status of a semi-luxe department store brand (yech!) and i want to cry when my buddy tells me that she paid $40 for a revlon lipstick and $45 for a cream foundation. i want to slap her and redirect her to ichibankao and invest her $$ into some lunasol for that price.

hey d!

LOL ;) I am! I read your mind. I have that connections to the d physic line!

LOL ahhh now I firgured out why I'm so weird! All my nori consumption from various sushi rolls has gone straight to my head ;)

damnit and I thought it would make me smart ;)

jesus I sure hope it doesn't make me go all revlon on myself hehe!

LOL I think there is some irony in the fact that your mother in law is now using designer and you're on ds brands hehe!

My sister loves this stuff. She got the blushers and she's raving 'bout 'em!

Really the price can't hurt so why not?

avon has been super good though lately hasn't it?

my god suck balls? I can't believe you just said that. LOL!

looking forward to the review ;)

Love ya D!

AYA!!! *mwah* 'ello!

Ditto hehe. but let's keep it quite as Dalenna is whoring around avon at the moment don't wanna hurt her feelings hehehe. Kidding, kidding!

I did. Sony Plaza is amazing. I wanna set up camp there. I could live there happily.

Would you adopt me so I can come live with you? :)

I must say that I've seen MUCH better quality from simpler, inexpensive brands!

Go figure :P

What's the price range your side Aya? Curious minds!

Hugs!

That's ridiculous!

Good lord YM that's insane. I shudder in fear that your friend is paying that money for crap!

Convert her to the ways of the Japanese cosmetic little jedi ;)

You know what's funny? This collection has already been out for quite some time. I don't mind that their "limited edition" items are on the shelf for a while. It gives me plenty of time to decide whether to buy any of it. *lol*

I don't feel strongly about Revlon one way or another. I have some of their glosses, which are ok, the creme shadows, which a creaseful nightmare, and the Colorstay Lite foundation, which I actually like - holy of holies, the Buff shade actually matches my impossible to match baby-olive skin.

What I really dislike is the pricing. I'm sorry, but 20$ CAD for drugstore foundation? Get the eff out!

What do you not like about the products?

I was actually glad that Revlon's LE lasted all year round and some. I was able to snatch up the blue metallic nail color which was supposed to be sold out back in October. I finally got my hands on one December. Nowadays, whenever I passed the Revlon counter, I could still see last year's LE! *gasps* I kept wondering why Revlon's abroad is so overpriced. Here in Indonesia, it's considered a drugstore brand and almost none of its products cost more than US$10. The lipsticks and nail colors are only $2.50!

hiya maggie!

Me either! It's just meh for me honestly.

The pricing is ridiculous your side. I find it obscene here honestly for the quality so paying more just freaks me out!

Hates:
flakey mascara
hard lipsticks
horrible to blend eyeshadows
lack of pigment

Have to many dislikes to count ;)

thanks for the comment lovie!

hiya Piece of Cake!

How are you?

Don't think I've run across that nail polish! Sounds nice!

Wow it's very shocking to hear prices are the same your side! Interesting! Everywhere else the prices are jacked up terribly.
Very curious you haven't experienced much of the same!

I guess the lack of "le" factor is a good thing sometimes hehe!

sorry to comment on such an old post but i just wanted to mention that i reviewed one of the blushes here

http://abeautyfulsentiment.blogspot.com/2008/04/revlon-floral-affair-blush-in-peachy.html

i've never had the inclination to purchased anything revlon before but the blush actually turned out to be really really nice! however i've heard that the shadows are horribly unpigmented and a complete waste of money.

Has anyone seen the Revlon Marble-osu Liner packaging? I thought there was three in it, but there was only one inside. It was tricky. What do you guys think?
