Musings of the Day: Wipe It All Off!

The Muse is blessed with so many incredible friends in her life but she does so wish she had more that were into makeup that way she could debate MAC Makeup Remover Wipes.

The Muse freaking loves the topic of these wipes. She adores people that go on and on about how wonderful they are, mind you the Muse thinks they are pretty special too but....

It irritates the holy hell out of me that people say these bloody things take it ALL off. But...but...but how? I love them with a passion. They don't dry my skin out, smell amazing, make my skin feel moisturized, and remove my makeup....

HOWEVER....

They do a crap job on waterproof mascara. So technically speaking they do not get it all off yet many a fan will insist they remove EVERYTHING.

Why jebus why!

I've honestly never had any success getting off waterproof mascara with these. I even seen one very popular youTuber say they took of MAC Liquidlast....she must be using a different wipe than I am or she's on crack...no freaking way are these doing that unless I scrub my eye with it like it's a brillo pad.

Damn.

That's my two dollar rant of the day.

Love 'em, just wish they'd do a better job with waterproof mascara and wish everyone who says they take off everything wouldn't say that.

But you can say whatever you like in my comment box.

Spill it!

What do you think of these wipes?

It's ok the Muse will still love you long time if you say they take off waterproof mascara...although it might be a tiny bit harder to do so after you admit that but love you she will.

lol never tried MAC wipes but I've tried other wipes, and none of those could effectively remove eyeliner without residue. I don't think wipes in general(at least the ones in the market) could do heavy-duty cleansing. :/

Cimpletely agree, not effective on mascaras generally at all. I find it a little bit irritating for my liking, rather stick with cleansing waters if im being really lazy!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the scent of the MAC Wipes! I wish that they made it into a perfume!!
The only problem that I had with them was that I bought the larger pack and they dried out! I was so upset!!
For now I use Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes & I <3 them! They remove everything & leave your face feeling really clean.

Not a wipes fan myself. I used to stock up on these for my kit when I was a freelance MUartist as they were quick to toss to models and actors to remove M-up but when I used them on myself I ALWAYS ended up using a separate eye make-up remover and facial wash afterwards. What's the point then???

I just don't like the feel of the residue wipes leave but I suppose better MAC wipes than baby wipes which I hate (it reminds me of baby bottoms, cute but don't want them near my face thanks).

I swear by DHC cleansing oil which does get off everything. I don't even bother using a separate facial wash afterwards, I don't need to. It rinses clear off.

I think they're way too expensive and not that good. I've tried a lot of baby wipes that sucked too, but (although I don't get all my mascara off with them), any pampers brand wipes work sooo well at getting all my other makeup off including eyeliner. The "kandoo" ones also smell really good. They work really well for mess ups during application, and I don't care about using a lot of them cause they are a few dollars for 50 wipes.

:( I'm allergic to them as well. Plus the smell seems to linger incredibly long. I just use regular baby wipes ( I like the huggies because they are nice and thick) and then rise it off when I'm feeling lazy.

Wow, I know this won't be much help to those anywhere else except good ol'Blighty but Tesco (yes..TESCO!) do the best make-up wipes I have ever tried. They're own brand in a pale blue wrapper/pouch thing from the 'Tesco Sensitive' range, £1.49 for 30 and my god they really do remove anything. Even my waterproof Max Factor False Lash Effect and some pretty sturdy liquid liner. Can't say the same for my heavy duty lipstains but that's easily fixed with some vaseline overnight. They're gentle, cheap, and they're moisturising so if I can't be bothered to go through my whole cleanse-tone-moisturise routine I can just fall to bed and won't wake up with skin drier than my boyfriends wit.
They're magnificent ladies. Anyone in the UK, go check them out!

This is funny to say, but I actually don't like MAC wipes. OMG OMG OMG!! How could I possibly say that?! I actually feel a residue on my skin after I use them, so I haven't touched one since the first time I used them about 7 years ago.

I was at a MAC counter the other day and tried these out on a bunch of foundation/concealer swatches I'd done on my hand and I thought, "what's all the hype about?" I agree they're moisturizing and feel non-irritating, but I had to scrub pretty hard to get off the foundation and even then still had some pigment residue left on my hand. That is pretty much what my soap does, so I was disappointed. I realize though that the makeup I took off was very recently applied, and that the makeup you wipe off at the end of the day has kind of cooked in face oils and is easier to take off.

I've also read that Kirkland's wipes are cheaper and just as effective? Never tried them myself, tho.

hey bora!

I didn't know you were an MUA awesome :-D Exactly my point. I always feel the need to clean up even further after use. So what is the point!?

I wouldn't bother with baby wipes myself as they are a tad oily plus they make me itch :P and yes I don't want to smell like a baby LOL!

DHC makes a damn good oil cleanser so does shu!

hey kay!

I get the itches with baby wipes and they are a tad oily for my skin so I don't bother :( I don't think the mac ones are too badly priced but they too a bang up bad job of removing wp mascara :(

I really wish I could take advantage of baby wipes but def does nothing for me :P
