Bourjois Paris Anticerne pour Petits Matins aka Bourjois Paris Light Diffusing Concealer Review

So it wasn't enough that I tortured you today with one really crummy concealer but here I am again with another rubbish concealer!

Meet Bourjois Paris Anticerne pour Petits Matins:

Better known to the Muse as Bourjois Paris Light Diffusing Concealer, much easier to pronounce that, yes?

I've had this a few months now but never got around to doing the review! Bad Muse, Bad! Depending on how you see it you'll be either really happy it's not available in the US or really sad. This is exclusive to the UK and possibly the Netherlands and a few other European countries, honestly I haven't checked all the site portals so I'm unsure but I got mine from England.

Now honestly as far as I'm concerned normally concealers that come in click style pens with brush applicators are a NEVER go wrong item! I've tried so many I've lost count but I do know I've always been plenty pleased with them however, with much dismay, I have to give a poor review to this one.

I generally love everything and anything Bourjois Paris puts out however they really did a poor job with this concealer. Although I wasn't expecting a miracle, I did expect that the concealer would at least cover my basic woes such as fine lines, dark shadows, and just make my eyes more awake and fresh. Sadly, this did nothing at all for anything in and around my eyes. I was secretly hopeful this would be a nice, thick, moisturizing, pigmented concealer that would replace my very expensive Dior Booster Pen however that's so NOT the case.

I'm unsure why the product fails so miserable. One main problem is of course is it seriously lacks any pigmentation. It glides on well enough and the formula, although not thick, is nicely cooling and moisturizing however the lack of pigmentation causes the main problem. In Bourjois' defense I will say that this isn't really supposed to act as a concealer but more of a highlighter for deflecting off of dark circles and creating the illusion of a better rested you but...well..it doesn't do that either. Honestly, it does a whole lot of nothing.

On top of not doing much in the ways of making the Muse appear rested and awake it also kinda lends a helping hand in making my already dry under eyes even more dry! Sigh! Rant! As you're smoothing on and patting into place it feels quite nice and moisturizing however after the better part of the day goes by your left with major creasing and a dryness that only the Sahara could surpass!

Although the click style pen is a super plus for the Muse as is the handy dandy brush applicator...if I'm honest...neither of those features do much to impress me after my rather long list of wrongs with the product!

I know I wrongfully expected a miracle but at the very least I did want something that at least worked. This one is on the Muse's do not buy list! I just couldn't love it.

The good news is Bourjois Paris has introduced a new concealer which looks promising! The Muse thinks you should hold out and try this new concealer and avoid the Bourjois Paris Light Diffusing Concealer! I'll try to get a review up of this one shortly!

Behold:

By the way since we are on the topic of jolly old England did you know that they announced the latest Doctor Who Christmas Special for this year! Lord knows, my Holiday isn't complete without knowing the Doctor will make an appearance for Christmas! The Muse enjoys all that wibbley wobbley timey wimey stuff! If there wasn't any Doctor at Christmas it would be like the Year without Santa Claus! GASP! Thank god David decided to take time off of Hamlet to grace us with his presence this Christmas! (Hint: The picture is a bit of a tip off for what to expect this coming season! You either already know what the episode will be about or what is coming thanks to the pic!)

hi muse!
i loved bourjois 10 hour sleep foundation so i bought their concealer (the black pencil one) - sadly my feelings are exactly the same as yours about Paris Anticerne pour Petits Matins, so i'm thinking maybe it's the same formula in a new packaging?
so i'm still in the search for a perfect concealer on a budget (too bad that Sana Make essence is no good:()

hi there sihaya!

Me too me too! It was great wasn't it!?

oh no..I guess the formula hasn't improved with the new release...wow....

I dunno honestly I think they are seperate products as they are seperate on the website but you could be right! Sheesh that stinks as I was thinking of purchasing this new version!

Did you see the new foundation with the attached brush? I have my eye on that...I'm hopefully it'll be as fab as 10 hour sleep effect!

I am, every always, on the hunt for a budget concealer :( but sadly I've only run across high end that actually work!

Thanks for the comment!
Hope we talk again soon!
Hugs!

awww, you're so sweet!
well the black version concealer could be a new formula, but i find it really not pigmented and making my skin look very dry and with more lines...so it sucks just the same;(
however the brush foundation: some girls on my local forum have just bought it - they say that they are pleased so far and that the coverage is really good, the finish is quite matte, but i'm waiting for a few more reviews to discover if it would work on a flaky skin like mine. i know i could go to the counter and try it on my face, but i'm too germophobic for that;)

Bought this one a few years ago and i was quite pleased with it. Then again it was at the beginning of my makeupadventure so my standards weren't that high yet hehe.
One thing i still remember very well is that the price is way too much for the amount you're getting, you run out of the sucker in no time!

Do not, i repeat, no NOT get the bourjois brush concealor (the black and pink-flowered one you've pictured) i bought it and i hated it. to get the concealer on the brush, you have to click it like 23983 times, plus the colour selection isn't good! the formula is quite okay though.

Love your blog!

I have flaky skin too! ;) Only in the winter where as summer I'm all about oily :P yak! So maybe this should be avoided until Summer.

hi makeup fairy!

LOL I know and understand that feeling!

That's pretty true. It's a very small pen...on par with Clinique's pen actually both really tiny but at least the clinique version works :)

Thanks for the comment :)

I am so pleased you love the Dior Booster pen as I do. Simply can't beat it, and it is WAY superior to that YSL one everyone bangs on about!

As for the Doctor? grrrrrrr....oh yeah! Can't wait. Don't care what monsters are in it, as long as I get my DT dose!

hi Anitacska!

Well since the doctor is returning for three main eppys in 2008-2009 I would say it's safe to say they will prob have celebs as assistants for the temporary episodes and maybe HINT at the new assistant in these three story archs.

Aside from that I really have heard anything about who might sign up for the next trip on board the tardis...as we head into 2010 I look forward to hearing more news :) and gossip!

Good on ya for spotting the cyberman shadow ;)

aha, actually the Dior pen brought me out of lurkdom before I read the end of the post about our beautiful David! I love the Booster pen and have turned many people on to it. Touche Eclat, Touche Eschmat. I do read every day though, and I must say, you have done much damage to my wallet over the months :) heehee We're just supporting the wilting economy, eh?!

I'm sure you heard this already but David Tennant is leaving Doctor Who after he does a few more episodes! I was so crushed when I read that. David is totally "my doctor", more so than any of the others have been :( Anyways, at least it will free him up to do more brilliant acting jobs that we can see hime in. <3

Yes I heard a few mornings ago :( very sad isn't it?

I loved David as well. TB is my absolute fav doctor but david is a runner up for a second place.

Such a shame!

But it's understandable too...I think the show is coming close to it's run as well..guess it's good to get out while it's good ;)

Thanks for the updates ;) and comment!

Nice to see fellow doctor fans around!
