MAC Passions of Red: Devoted Poppy Lip Palette Review and Swatches

This morning I decided to crack open my MAC lip palette in Devoted Poppy from the new MAC Passions of Red Collection and do a little Face of the Day with it!

I dare do say that this is the first time I've purchased a lip palette from MAC or anywhere else to be honest. My downward spiral into the uncharted waters of lip palettes occurred when I recently purchased and fell in love the the lip palette from Bobbi Brown's Pink Satin Collection.

I now have in my collection two lips palettes! I'm such a wild and crazy Muse aren't I? Who knew I'd LIKE lip palettes!

I always avoid lip palettes as I feel they are messy as hell and yes the fact still remains they are kinda messy however MAC Devoted Poppy is so pretty that I couldn't resist the allure of the peachy, warm shades and beautiful, shiny gem encrusted compact!

the Muse likey!

Devoted Poppy includes two lipsticks in Devoted and Softtalk and one gloss in Transparent Love. Combining the shades will create an endless array of different looks or using each shade individually will get you three seperate looks.

Although my swatches are quite sheer, rest assured that the colors included are quite pigmented. Devoted is a true orange shade while Softtalk is more of a burnt orange. Transparent Love is a transparent beige shade which lends a nice glossy layer to either of the two lipstick shades.

To create my look below I used a wash of Softtalk and a heavy layer of Transparent Love. I also used the new Jill Stuart Illuminance Palette in Brocade Gold from Fall Collection 2008.

What I used to create my look:

Eyes
Jill Stuart Illuminance Palette in Brocade Gold
KATE Gel Mascara

Lips
MAC Devoted Poppy Lip Palette

Face
Stila Convertible Color in Orchid
Urban Decay Half Baked Bronzer in Glided Gold

For my second look I combined the two lipstick shades and topped with a soft layer of the gloss! When combined the colors give a pigmented burned orange look which is quite nice for a Fall look!

All in all I was quite pleased with the MAC Devoted Poppy Lip Palette and I've been considering indulging in the other two as I really like the looks of them. I actually feel some guilt that I haven't indulged in any past lip palettes that MAC has put out now! Damn!

But ado at least now I've paved the way for a new addiction! Lip palettes here I come!

Kayvid: I am not interested in these lip palettes...but the Warm Eye Palette sure looks great. BTW Muse, I hauled UD VIP+BE Buxom(Roxanne)...I'm totally in love with both...the gloss is phenomenal....so rich and pigmented...LOVE IT! Thanks for recommending it(though I got a diff shade) :-)
And I'm glad I finally gave in to my UD VIP set lemming.

I don´t like lip palettes either, they only look nice when new and it is a pain to reapply on the go. Buuuuut these DO look nice...

Hi Muse!!!

I love the packaging, but I quite don't like the colours, so I'm not going to get this.

I received today my Jolie Poupee Duo!!! So gorgeous! Can't wait to use it this weekend, I'll make my bf take me out to dinner to use it for the first time :)
