MAC Overrich Pigments Review and Swatches

Just when you think MAC has done it all they switch things up a little bit and create another new, interesting, and unique collection that will appeal to the n00bs and fan girls alike.

Although MAC has done and re-done pigments until we are all blue in the face I think it's safe to say that they never get old and we never get tired of 'em, at least I don't!

Last year MAC Rush Metal made me a happy girl but this year...this year MAC Overrich really made me estactic. Although Rush Metal is by far one of my favorite pigment collections I must admit that I was thrilled with MAC Overrich.

The pigments in Overrich are good deal different from most previous pigment releases. The formula is a finer grain of product that pigments are most definately not known for and the colors are richer and deeper than any previous release I've collected thus far.

Now the formula as I mentioned is slightly different on a few colors. I noticed the formula varied in format in several of the pigments however pretty much very single shade had a very finely milled texture. Most pigments I own do not have this texture, most are very grainy and chunky where as most all of the Overrich pigments were finely milled powder. I also noticed that the colors blended easier and fall out wasn't as bad as it normally is with other MAC pigments. I also felt like the colors were more richer and intense in comparsion to past shades I've collected.

I got all the colors released aside from Mauvement which was a repromote from Rush Metal. The colors are truly intense shades that are super Fall friendly and will be great for creating unique, mysterious, dark eye looks! I can barely wait to dive in!

Blonde's Gold is my favorite and happens to be a perfect shade of tan that contains so much gold it can easily be mistaken for a shimmering subdued beige shade.

Vintage Gold and Antique Green are next on my top list! These two combined will create a near perfect smoky green eye look. Vintage Gold is an olive green with traces of gold where as Antique Green is a true forest green shade.

Heritage Rouge is a deep burgundy with hints of brown.

Copperbeam is a fine brown with hints of deeper red which creates a tarnished maroon shade.

Mega-Rich is a burnt orange and ideally perfect for Fall!

And finally Museum Bronze is a taupe off brown with hints of gold.

As you can see a majority of the shades contain quite a good deal of golden shimmer which is quite alright with me as I favor a bit of gold in all my shades.

The selection is extremely Fall orintated but can easily work well in the Winter if you're seeking some ultra chic smoky looks using bolder shades.

I'm glad I got all the colors as they are something well worth picking up! I'm particularly enamoured with Blonde's Gold.

All in all I'm loving MAC Overrich! It's a wonderful selection of colors that are Muse Approved for purchase!

Grab 'em before they are gone!

I love all the colours in this collection! They are of my favorite browns/greens! But I honestly don't think I'd be able to finish even one single jar in my entire life!

do u think u'll be selling samples of any of them? it'd be great if u do cuz i can get my hands on them without buying a whole jar! :)

Hi Muse!

I was just wondering if you'd be able to advise if Vintage Gold and Heritage Rouge are similar to the colours found in the Color Forms Warm Palette!

hi stephy!

Me too! These colors sometimes make my dark circles more prominent but I still couldn't resist the goodness!

I agree :( Finishing a jar is difficult to say the leas.

Honestly, I wouldn't feel right selling pigment samples but I'd happily make some for you free of charge if you don't mind waiting a bit. I don't have jars at the moment plus I'm really busy to sit down and do it but if you can wait I'd happily send some along ;-) free of charge.

Let me know if you'd like to wait a bit :)

Hi Miss Muse!

I am in a much better mood today. Got more sleep so I'm a lot less grumpy. Although I'm not overly pleased to have 2 work trips this month. 3.5 hr plane rides twice a week get really long...

Children's Home did love the donation! The lady collecting the items wanted to look at them right away. She thought they were way cute!

Even better, I got an email saying the North Branch office of the Crisis Nursery had been completely out of toiletry products so my donation was most timely. Yikes!

It is nice to support charities friends like. =D

I can only hope my local Sephora will revamp. It's in the busiest mall in the Twin Cities. The MOA one is nicer but MOA is such a pain.

I've been very picky about PR companies.

I like some GWP items but I give most of mine away as extras or to friends. There's a lot I don't use. I find the GWPs from certain brands to always be good - Armani, Chantecaille, Givenchy.

Penguins are cute too but my favorite two are otters and meerkats. I absolutely love meerkats. I had to quit watching Meerkat Manor because I was worrying too much about them.

Have you ever tried Vichy mints? They are lovely! If you send me your addy I'll send a bag in a little care package.

Yes! Evian does have a skin care line. It's definitely drugstore, but it's high quality drugstore. It's available in France and Canada. The selection is actually more reliable in Canada for some odd reason.

Hm...I've never met Susan in person so you might have the better perception. But she's always been very respectful if I say I'm not interested in items.

He he...sounds like we feel the same way about midnight parties. I did make an exception for HP 7 though...plus I was picking up a copy for my mom and also my boss at the time.

You are right that Bella was strong in some aspects. She certainly knew what she wanted. Not to mention incredibly tenacious. But yes, emo overkill! She did like to be dramatic.

The Rune of the Unmaking is by Madeline Howard (a pen name for Theresa Edgerton). It's got magic and the fey and an evil sorceress. Not to mention prophecy. 2 of the 3 books are out. It's a well written high fantasy series.

The City of Bones is a teen book by Cassandra Clare. It's actually about a group of demon hunters and a megalomaniac. The 2nd book is also out. It's a fun read. Also has vampires, demons, werewolves, lots of fun characters.

I never got into romance but I used to like mysteries a lot.

It's a good sign you are feeling better! Change can be so darn difficult but once a decision is made, it can be a relief. You'll be back to yourself in no time - or rather an improved version.

I saw your post on Fresh Twilight. I have it and did review it already. I double checked to make certain I did actually review it rather than was just planning to. It's nice but definitely more of a fall to spring thing than summer.

My Chanel quad should be delivered tomorrow so I'll be able to review shortly! I found Blackstar to be a sooty black. I call it black rather than very dark gray. But it's not as black as the new carbon black pigment.

Some travel for work is nice. 25% gets to be too much. That ends up being 3 months of the year!

If they ask for volunteers on makeup, I'll definitely sign up! It'd be a lot of fun.

Watching a woman's beauty ritual is rather fascinating. Every woman does have her own routine.

Cupcake bakeries are evil...but so good.

I'll have to remember the Iron Tomato for when I make it back to your city! I love good Italian. I am not a fan of soggy pasta.

I just received a big order from Japan today. *squee!* I'm very excited. I even got samples of the new Coffret D'Or powder foundation and the new Jill Stuart base. I can't wait to play with it all.

I hope you had a good day!

Hugs! Love ya!

P.s. I'll send my addy in an email.

Wow, Heritage Rouge, Blonde's Gold and Antique Green are really pretty.

I didn't indulge in this set because I'm currently broke (thanks Dragon Con :P), but I may have to pick up Heritage Rouge at some point in the future or at least get a sample of it from one of those pigment sites.

I'd love to see you do some looks with Heritage Rouge and Antique Green, though not together :P. I'd also love to see a smoky eye from you with Vintage gold and Antique green.

hey bets!

It's my turn to be grumpy lol! I'm exhausted today! Awww I can imagine after a time you get a bit exhausted traveling about.

Yay so glad the children's home enjoyed the super cute kit you made up ;)

awww fantastic!

We have several hundred sephoras as you can imagine however I do love the ones in my main mall since it's a bit less gross than the ones found around. I mean you can't even go into a few due to the disgusting samples ew!

So far I've had all good experiences with my reps :) thank god as I have read some stuff that made me scared!

to be cont....;) will reply more later!

They look so good and the texture is the same as regular mineral eyeshadows. I love gold colors as well, they are so gorgeous but not really easy to wear (at least for me!)

Sorry bets hehe....here's the follow up to our chitter!

I think the higher end offers great GWP's but brands like Clinique, Etc...offer kinda crudy gwps :P

LOL meerkats are terribly strange looking :)
awww were you upset do to the fighting?!

No I haven't. I'd love to try some :) Thanks!

I tried the Aquafina line and loved the spray water however the rest of the line sucks majorly eww!

Susan is a doll. Really she is. Super generous too but a little tiny bit pushy. However it could simply be the way you deal with her. I'm a push over and she can obviously see that so I end up with items I don't want a majority of the time! I had no idea she moved from Saks though! I haven't been to the saks givenchy counter in mmm at least 5 months..was the move recent?

My friends, especially one of my good friends, Jai, never sleeps so doing the parties are "exciting" for him however I'm more likely to fall asleep lol! Plus I have a low tolerance for teeny booper fan girls lol!

Jai however fits right in as I believe he was a teenage girl in a past life.

Bella was a picture of contradiction which may be what drew me to her character however I do prefer Edward over Bella. But Bella was interesting..her complete acceptance in situations always made me smile, her persistent to make a doomed relationship a success was rather interesting for her age, etc...

I read Bella's character with an attitude. In book 1 she always seemed to have this shitty attitude about being the center of attention, going to the dance, etc...

It was shocking to read that Edward felt she was just terribly shy. I realized part of what I read as far as her character goes was some insecurity however I always felt she was strong. Reading her as Edward viewed her was rather weird as he made her into a shy, insecure, easily embarrassed little girl.

I'm talking of this as if you already read Midnight Sun..have you?

I REALLY didn't see Bella in this light at all. She seemed to have more of an attitude problem than anything else in Twilight and later in New Moon she turned into a rather nervous, rebellious emo teen.

Anyway shows you how twisted my perspective of her character. I easily slotted her into a teen with an attitude problem when in reality she was just a really insecure, shy girl or at least that's how Edward felt.

It's slightly disturbing being faced with Edward's maturity as I don't think I ever really grasped that until I read Midnight Sun. The way Bella interpenetrates him I just end up seeing the boy and not the man. So in fact I'm seeing the two of them as equals when in fact they are not.

Anyway the point is that seeing Edward as a man is a bit strange as Bella is still a girl.

LOL this got rather long. I can nitpick this stuff to hell and back don't get me started.

Let's discuss the Historian next ;)

Fantastic Rune of the Unmasking sounds very me. Off to order them from amazon soon as I finish this reply :) Thanks for rec!

megalomaniac? deep lol! Sounds interesting. I'm partial to demons and zombies.

thanks for the recs. I love mysteries too ;)

Hells yes I hate change with a passion but I'm well and smiling ;)

It's hard to keep me down!

I think Twilight was meant as a Fall thing wasn't it? Is it very shimmery? That I wouldn't dig. I'm thinking of getting both High Noon and Twilight. At $35 each they are pretty nicely sized.

Speaking of which I indulged in more Armani FF in the 01 as planned and I also got the Chanel liner duo as I couldn't resist. I went ahead and ordered both Guerlain foundations as well but wasn't so sure about the compact puff style of the Meteorites. Debatable.
Slightly off topic but since we are discussing high end have you seen the reservation bag by Thomas Wylde? I was thinking of indulging but thought it might be a bit...mm..too much...the tassel is slightly overkill. I want to be sure of myself because at $1,800 it's possibly the most I've ever spent on a bag of it's size so curious on your thoughts as you have fantastic taste.

I've asked several friends and they all adore it but I'm not completely loving it although I definately "feel" it for the Fall.

I'm partial to the scorpion bag but the price tag prevents me from indulging. It's a tiny bit obscene to splurge that much on a bag like that. The reservation I was thinking would make a great primary Fall bag but the problem is that I tend to change bags like every day so I don't want this to end up in the bottom of my closet just sitting around gathering dust.

I'm also very short so the bag would dominate. I have this thing about big bags dominating my short status. If I was model thin with that height I wouldn't mind sporting this but at my height it's ridiculous.

Anyway! Do tell me what you think. Your opinion and advice are definately welcome as you have amazing taste.

Yes but you get to go to great places right ;) I'll be your traveling buddy where shall we meet up? hehe!

That'd be fantastic to do! The children's home I volunteer did face painting and I got hyper..if they did a makeup night I'd be rolling around in bliss lol! Fun fun!

Lord yes. I think some people on here think I'm quite mad as my skincare regime is quite something to behold..but hey it works for me :)

I AVOID bakeries here in the city. Everything is too good and BAD! My dad was a baker you know when I was really, really young. Had his own bakery..did breads, donuts etc..no pastries though :)

The Iron Tomato is fantastic. It's a little gourmet with some of everything. Wonderful deli, pizza, tons of Italian dishes to select from, gelato, pastries...it's really rather nice :)

whatcha get whatca get?! I'm waiting on my MD and Also I gave in and got the CD cream shadows released for fall wonder if they are good!

You have a great too my friend!

Big Hugs!
Love ya back!
