Bobbi Brown: Customize Your Own Palette

If you follow me around Cozy you might have noticed I posted about these on the Bobbi Brown thread!

If not you got me babbling about them here on my blog!

These are an interesting concept and since my obsession with Bobbi Brown lately you know that I want to try these out but the price makes me cringe slightly!

First of all these are completely well thought out as the color selection is vast so it's not a flash in the pan money making scheme. They actually considered this a while prior to releasing them. I love that they have a nice good array of color.

What are they?

Basically you'll be purchasing an empty quad or trio which you can fill with any combination of blushes or eyeshadows of your own personal choice!

Items available are shimmer eyeshadows, shimmer blushes, and standard blushes and eyeshadows.

The shimmer shadows and blushes are of course something I am highly interested in trying out for myself!

At the moment there are at least 30 shades of shadow available. That number is without the shimmer shadows so the choices and variety are fantastic!

Price wise is where I am slightly raising my eyebrows. An empty quad or trio is $10 USD...mmm not too bad but nearly twice the amount of a standard MAC quad. Blushes are $22 USD each and Eyeshadows are $20 USD.

Break that down with a quad and you're looking at say over $90 USD for one blush and three eyeshadows.

Bobbi I love you, I really love you but I don't love a $90 palette!

Holy cow!

If you went the cheaper route and decided on a trio one blush and two eyeshadows would run you over $70 USD!

Wow.

As much as I am wanting these the price tag is just a tiny bit too high for the Muse!

Love 'em, yes. Price Tag, not feeling it at all!

Want these?

Good deal?

Bad deal?

Tell the Muse!

Thanks for doing the math, Muse! I was so feeling this, but wanted to do the math myself before I decided. And now, I've decided that I must pass on this custom palette - booo :(

I was all ready to add this to my "to be purchased" list until i saw what it added up to! silly me i always look at the components separately and never bother to really think, this is a $90 palette. when i think of it that way, it really is quite ridiculous and although nice, a bit too rich for my blood.

i can buy that beautiful chanel face palette for a comparable amount!

thank goodness i have you to do my math for me :)

and thanks so much for the watermark info! i'm too lazy to look into it at the moment but may do it eventually.

Good lord, the price! Lemmie think. Two eyeshadows, and two blushes and a case equals - $94? Wow thats a lot.

Wow, $90 is so much!! It's a great idea but I'd rather just find a ready-made palette with colors that I like for a lot cheaper! Too bad since I love everything Bobbi Brown.

my pleasure lil!

I have pass too. It's too much. These are gorgeous but I'm actually not insane enough to lay out the cash. I'm wondering of the shadows and blush come in their own compact. If so I'd consider purchasing one or two at $20-22 however not with the entire quad or trio. It's too expensive.

Beautiful yes, price not so beautiful!

hey Jen Jen!

I was adding it to my wishy list myself but it's too crazy.

I'm curious if they come in their own compact. If so I'd consider purchasing one shadow and a blush to see what it's like but dishing out for the entire thing is a bit too much. Hell even a Chanel Quad isn't $90! or $72 for that matter!

I agree very beautiful but the price is obscene!

Just email and I'll help out if you have an image already you'd like to use. Gee was a blessing as she sent the app my way!

I later found it it's easy enough to do with gimp as well!

Or I can recommend my webmaster/graphic expert Zoe :)

hey Jamie!

It's a wonderful idea but way too insane price wise. I'm a new convert to Bobbi. I've bitched about her products for so long it's surreal and suddenly one day I was a total fan. But this is wayyyyyyyyyy to costly for me!

love the idea, find the colors gorgeous but find the price obscene!

hiya Teneasha! How are you?

I was too but the price...ouchie!

you're most welcome, my pleasure!

btw I'd actually consider buying a made up palette for say $48-$52 dollars but $90 or $70 no that's ok ;)

no way would i pay that much! i'd rather drop the $90 on a Chantecaille eyeshadow - have you seen those ocean themed ones? They look so pretty!

Blogger AskMeWhats said...

Muse, Artdeco also have this type of create your own palette. But the shadows are smaller...but so far..the color payoffs of Artdeco is really smooth and creamy! But the thing is...the palette ia as expensive as the total cost of the total number of e/s inside the palette! But what I love about them is that have the palette for 4s, for 6s and upto 12 I believe :)

MAC is the cheapest I've seen so far :( and BP as well but those are mini versions!

I've never tried artdeco so thanks for the mini review of the shadows lovie ;)

I just want to screammmmmm!!!! arrrrghhhh!!! hehehe Do they sell it in Pro stores there? Or in regular MAC stores? I have a friend who will go to Canada and I am planning to ask a huge favor from her and buy a palette for me...a palette or 2 or 3 hahaha :)

I'm thinking about the Artdeco mini e/s and put them onto my ELF quads (i'll remove the thingy inside to maximize the space hehehe). Will let you know how it goes...sorry ELF...hehehe I have 2 ELF e/s (in fairness) hahaha

I saw the review in Allure this month, and couldn't help but cringe at the price. Ouch.

I've yet to try Bobbi Brown (except for her concealer), but at this price, it looks like it might be a while before I do!

WHOA NELLY! I wonder if Bobbi did the math on this her self?! Geez! This is why I'm not a complete Bobbi convert. LOVE most of her products, but her prices often scare me. And this is downright INSANE!

Hey Muse! The exorbitant price tag for this palette turns me off f'sure. I'd much rather get a MAC custom palette for nearly half the price!

The side bars and such are easy to do! If you need help just email me and we can arrange a time to be online together to chat about it.

Interesting idea, Bobbi..but I'm afraid Art Deco's already come up with this. And they use magnetism...you get basically an empty metal box, and all the compacts and every one of their sets is magnetic..which is cool, ne?

And the price..yes..>sigh<

Something to think about:

Bobbi Brown eyeshadows are .1 oz for $20 while Mac eyeshadows are .05 oz for about $14. In the pan (palette form), MAC shadows are about $10.50.

I think B. Brown is actually the more budget friendly route if you are looking for everyday staples.

Anyways I just wanted you to know that I absolutely adore your blog!

Aw thanks so much! I really appreciate your reading my mad babblings here ;)

I hope you'll comment more often! I love speaking to my readers!
