Heroine Mascara Remover Review
I love Heroine cosmetics as much as the next girl and I have to say the Mascara Remover isn't too bad a deal!
The sole purpose of purchasing this was to remove heavy duty Japanese mascara like Excel (read my review on Excel's awesome mascara by clicking here), Beaute de Kose, and other brands.
I normally use Sephora brand eye makeup remover (if you have something better do let me know as I'm always on the look out for good eye makeup remover) and it does a great job of getting off anything I put on my eyes even MAC liquidlast! However, it has a bit of a problem removing Japanese mascara especially heavier inky ones (if you use Japanese mascara you know the intense texture).
The Sephora remover does a pretty good job of getting it off but after my entire face is cleaned up I'm still noticing my eyelashes are a bit tacky feeling or shedding fibers (if I used a fiber mascara) which means it hasn't gotten everything!
In comes to play Heroine's Mascara Remover. I firgure after using the Sephora remover and rinsing up my entire face I could use the Heroine as a way of coating off any left over gunk that the other remover left behind.
It appears that it does an ok job of it. Today I used KATE Primer and KATE Gel Mascara. KATE's mascara isn't particularly difficult to remove but since I used the Primer first it thickens the mascara some and gives me a tiny bit of a problem removing it completely.
I swiped some of the Heroine Mascara Remover over my lashes after my entire face was clean (prior to moisturizing). Afterward I wiped each last with a cotton pad. Nothing was on the pad however my lashes lost that "hard" feeling I get when mascara is still on plus my lashes felt soft and conditioned.
I'm not sure how well this will work with heavier mascaras but I'm curious to find out. All in all it'll only set you back about 882 yen ($8 bucks USD) so it couldn't hurt to try it!
The general idea of using this as your primary mascara remover would be nuts and I'm not entirely sure that's what they expect (I sure hope not) but using it in conjunction with your regular remover you should see ok results!
So far I give a tentative ok rating and when I use it again, as I said before, with a heavier mascara maybe it'll be a glowing review!

Ah, this is one of my very favorite "Only in Japan" products! It really does help to remove the remnants of some of those die-hard mascaras. What I do is use a cleansing oil to get rid of all of my eye makeup (Origins Clean Energy or L'Occitane Apple Almond) and then swipe the wand of this product over my lashes to remove anything extra. Works a charm and there's less tugging with the cleansing oil than with a regular makeup remover! Come to think of it, I'd like to try some Japanese cleansing oils too. Any recs, Muse (other than DHC)? :D
I've used it a few times this week and I have to say it's doing a good job removing the gunk after washing!
I never tried using a cleaning oil to remove my eye makeup! Thanks for the tip! I have several so I might just try that! I find I tug alot with Sephora's oil based remover!
Hmmm that's a good question! I'll look through my cleansers and let ya know as I've tried a ton!
RMK makes a rather lovely mint one but it's so pricey :(
I have at least 6 bottles under my sink! I'll have a lookee and tell ya my favs ;)
I'm a purirty girl but I sometimes revert to oils when I'm low on purirty!

My favorite eye makeup remover is Victoria's Secret Very Sexy Total Makeup Remover. Shake the bottle well, soak up the cotton pad (I suggest using Japanese cotton pad for this; much more gentle to the eye area than the normal cotton pads from drugstore), and press on your lash line for 30 seconds and swipe a few times. That's it!
This works well for all mascaras I tried/used so far (Fasio, Heroine Make, Lash Stylist,and various other mascaras available here in US ..with/without Kate Mascara base).
In term of cleansing oil, I've used Shu, Origins, and Sofina Beaute -- all good. I've read from an Asian beauty board though that the Biore is really good, cheap, and can be used in the shower unlike the others that are to be used on dry skin only. Perhaps I'll try this next ;)

I've never tried the VS remover. I normally use Sephora brand..probably 'bout the same thing!
I never tried the Biore Cleansing Oil! Must def try it.
I normally use Purity both in and out of the shower ;)
