Pieces of Life: Harry Potter and the Half Arsed Movie

Hey Guys!

Miss me today? Sorry just been really swamped with everything and anything. What are you all up today? It's a humid day in New York today finally some weather we can call Summer.

I have a slew of posts upcoming shortly.

Jump ahead for a bit more babble!

Keep it tuned here as I have a ton of good posts upcoming and scheduled for you. Cover FX Water Base Foundation, Too Faced Fall Collection, and a bunch of other goodies are coming at you shortly.

Harry Potter spoilage ahead so if you didn't see the movie look away now!

As some of you know I'm a Harry Potter addict and went to see Half-Blood Prince on Tuesday night for the first showing. Phew what a piece of junk. I duly rename it Harry Potter and the Half Arsed Movie. What the hell were they thinking? They had nearly two and half hours to perfect 600 some odd pages of a great novel and this is what they bring us? What a disappointment. Sigh. I think the only redeeming quality of the film was the fact that Bellatrix (my favorite character) appeared in the movie more than the 6th book. For the most part they had some pretty fantastic scenes but it felt like they filmed these scenes and proceeded to edit them altogether. The results...a wishy washy film that jumped around so much my head spun. I read the book twice but I kept thinking to myself what if I never read the book? What if I went into the movie blinded folded and didn't know anything about the sixth book....I'd be clueless if I went in without reading the book as they throw so many things at you without fully developing the story. They also took great liberties of adding in scenes that never even happened in the book, what in the world are they thinking here? On top of these insults you have this stupid ending without a fight and a simple whip of Snape's wand and some softly muttered words of Avada Kedavra and our beloved Headmaster is dead. What happened to the battle between the students and the Deatheaters? What happened to the spell cast on Harry to keep him immobile? He was left hiding out and cowardly while the man who mentored him was ruthlessly killed and watching like an idiot. Geez way to kill a moment. And the funeral? That's cut.

Lord.

It a was mess to say the least. I was really disappointed.

Anyway!

Thanks for listening to my Potter babble.

What are you up to today?

Anyone see the film yet?

What new makeup are you playing with?

Tell the Muse!

Be back soon with new posts!

Hey! I haven't see the film yet but I am glad to see that someone else rates Bellatrix as a favorite character. I think she is awesome and everytime that I say that, people look at me funny and go "Ewwww!!! Why?!" Makeup-wise, I am playing with MAC's Paint Pot in Bare Study.

omg...disappointment to the MAX. i kept looking over at my friends on tuesday night and saying, "i don't remember this!" WTF. Harry Potter FAIL.

i also kept thinking, "i'm too old to go to a midnight movie." i didn't get home until 3:30 am, and paid dearly for it the next. day. verdict? so not worth it.

i love the books, and for the most part have loved the movies, but this was by far the worst.

OMG!! I couldn't be more agree with you Muse this movie is totally absurd and disappointing I was wishing a more elaborated and adventurous movie but this one's really the worst of the saga and its such a pain because the book was so good!!

I totally agree with you! You kinda expressed my thoughts! :) Espesially I liked the thought that I would be "clueless withou reading the book"... the movie sucked a bit, though I liked many effects)))

I agree that Bellatrix is great in the movies, but it was weird how they added that scene where the Death Eaters just blow up the Burrow, and then the Weasleys are just standing there, watching their house burn down... Also, it was really surprising that they entirely left out Rufus Scrimgeour. Also, no Tonks/Remus love! Still, I thought that the scenes with Ron taking the love potion and when Harry took the Felix Felicis were hilarious. Slughorn was just perfect altogether.

WELL, that is enough of a rant for me, ahaha...

Me and my guys are going to see the movie tomorrow night at the Cinebistro theatre (which means leather comfy seats, alcohol, and good food). I'm REALLY looking forward to it, and I'll let you know what I think of it after I see it. I loved the previous movies.

now see, i thought they screwed up the last hp movie also. i know it's hard to get all the content in, but c'mon, make it flow at least! they did the same thing to "the golden compass", phenomenal book, less than average film...in your words..."le sigh..."

oh my goodness! the first 5 minutes of the movie ticked me off so badly that i wanted to scream. i went to the midnight showing on tuesday/wednesday as well, as i've been highly anticipating this release. first and foremost, wtf? they totally left out the scene where harry inherits kreatcher, and sirius' place. not to mention fleur and bill are left out, which brings me to wonder how the hell they're going to start out the final movie? the end was horrible, i expected this huge epic battle with the students, dumbledore's death was half assed at best, and yes, harry was just going to stand there and watch it all. and if i remember correclty, didn't he disarm malfoy, which is part of HOW in deathly hallows, he ends up getting dumbledore's wand from voldemort? argh, there's a lot more i could rant upon (like no mention of fudge losing his position in the ministry of magic, so little of tonks and remus, and ARGH) but i know you are busy. *sigh* i'm at least glad i'm not the only person who felt this way about the movie. it was so not what i expected, or worth the wait.

Oh, they cut the funeral??? No! That's the best part of the book! I think the tradition of passing the torch to the next director in HP sometimes does not work. Book 1 and 2 movies were really bad. I think Goblet of Fire was a good one.

the effects were nice I agree and plenty of good scenes but damn if someone went in without reading the book I feel bad for them as they must have felt clueless as all hell!

hey mynext30yrs

omg as soon as it started I leaned over and whispered into my friend Martin's ear and said WTF? a diner? a train station? what?!
as soon as I seen that I knew it was about to get worst!

I went to the 12am showing too and I regret losing sleep over it LOL

I was really looking forward to fleur being in this part but nope completely cut...werewolves in general were cut....no explanation about werewolves, etc...
the end was total lukewarm no battle just a really quick death for dumbledore..what did they run out of cash!?

so little of tonks really pissed me off...luna saving harry in the train!? wtf happened to tonks saving him? she played a part in the film anyway right why not just have her save him didn't make much sent for it to be luna!?

LOL rant away I feel your pain. What upsets me most are the raving reviews?!?!? who the hell raved this that loved the books?!

hi, Muse
I am back from the cinema (and now I read your post :))
and it seems that ppl who commented above already wrote what I wanted to say :(
the main thing is that a lot of important things were missed and my bf who haven't read the book asked me a lot of questions in the end!
what I really missed - Ron and Hermione.for almost all movie we saw only Harry...
one more thing - the scene near the lake was like from the Lord of the Rings for many reasons :D :)))
but in general it was not that bad
bwt, have you seen the photos from next movie?
I already did.

My roommate renamed the movie Harry Potter and the Awkward Silences. Seriously, I re-read the book yesterday and there was waaaay less suggestive stuff in it. I still don't think it was the worst of the movies (I hate hate hated number 4), but I always wish I could remake the movies for them.

Ok, now that I've seen the movie (though I should preface this with I had a glass of wine before and during the movie, and a sip of spiced pear mojito)... it left me feeling unsettled. D & R theorize this is because most american movies tend to end on a high note, and this was like the book (or an art movie) and it ended on a sad note, which leaves the audience unsettled. It makes it so you don't know how you should feel about the movie experience.

I felt like they skimmed over a whole hell of a lot of the book, cutting chunks out here and there, barely alluding to WHAT/Who the Half-Blood prince was. It never shows just how important Harry found the HBP to be in the movie (I had to explain this to D).

That being said, I felt like the movie flowed pretty well, but it wasn't the book.

I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. I liked the dark tone and visualizations that you see throughout the movie. I like how they showed Draco's breakdown and how haunted he appeared. Snape was wonderful to me, as always.

Anyways, those are my initial thoughts/impressions.

Actually, I thought it was the best movie so far since the first 2. I agree that they did go away from the movie, but that always happens. Also, apparently they're planning to put the funeral in Part 1 of Deathly Hallows.

hi marina

sorry for the delayed reply :-D

I went with 25 friendly and all but two had read the books and we got a LOAD of ?'s afterward about what the hell was happening!

I agree it concentrated on Harry alot which is good but also bad as the other characters are just as important. Hells yes very lord of the rings :-D

Yes! Quite exciting and hopefully I'm not as disappointed with the next two films :-D

hey dd!

great impressions. I took like the darkness of the film and of course as always enjoy snape (and alan rickman). However it the large chunks cut out and the incomplete feeling left me wanting for more. In the long run I wasn't loving or liking it either..I was just meh.
