Delish Gourment Bath Bakery Bubble Bath Cupcakes Review
Yesterday I was busy procrastinating and tweeting happily away with one of my lovely readers and we got to discussing Antique Bakery. Antique Bakery is a popular Japanese manga about four men that run a bakery/pastry shop. The story has since been translated into English and is available within the US under the same title. It's been misconceived that Antique Bakery is a yaoi manga and it drives me batty whenever I hear this because it's sincerely not yaoi in it's true format. In November Antique Bakery was released as a live action film which the Muse is quite excited about as Kim Jae Wook is in it!
The moral of my rather long story is that cute bishōnen boys and cake are truly a marriage most divine! After discussing Antique Bakery I got home late last night and I remembered my discussion and I started rummaging around in my review box. Inside I finally located what I was looking for...and sadly no it wasn't Kim Jae Wook but it was the next best thing (the Muse plans on running away to Korea and marrying Kim Jae Wook and having 2.5 kids but that's a story for another day!)! A cupcake!
Indeed I was feeling inspired to review cupcakes after discussing Antique Bakery! Ummm Muse why do you have cupcakes in your review box?
Well this cupcake actually isn't edible but more of the bath and body variety! I recently came across Delish Gourment Bath Bakery Bubble Bath Cupcakes on the Bath and Body Works site. After cruising around BBW I decided to Google up Delish and see what the story was!
Glad I did because I came across their rather awesome website which has a pretty extensive array of awesome bath bombs shaped like evil little cuppycakes that are too tempting for mere words! I actually have three of Delish's Gourment Bath Bakery Bubble Bath Cupcakes to review for you! Yay exciting!
Since I was in the mood for a warm bath last night I decided to slip a Delish Candy Cane Kisses into my bath tub! Although these promise to sud up they actually don't create masses of bubbles but more of a moisturizing foam. They fizz, pop, and sizzle around your tub while lightly scenting the water with a sweet peppermint fragrance. One of the things that absolutely thrilled me to bits was the fact that it turned my bath water into a ridiculously bright green shade! I felt like a little kid splashing around in all that green water! I was slightly worried all the dye would create a major ring around my tub but it washed away simply and easily. Unlike Lush Bath Bombs these are very subtle in their scent and aren't overpowering. They also last alot longer and fizz for a good 15-20 minutes before disappearing completely where as Lush Bath Bombs fizz for about 1-2 minutes. It's quite nice to have such a long lasting fizzing treatment in the tub! If you want you can crack them up prior to placing them in the water but I just sunk mine in whole and watched it twirling around as it fizzed. They are pretty big so if you're want to cheap it up a bit you can probably get two baths out of one cupcake!
As I mentioned I tried Candy Cane Kisses last night and it's a very soft, sweet peppermint scent with touches of vanilla and cake! I also have Sugar Plum Fairy which is a warm spicy scent with touches of cake and Birthday Cake which smells exactly like yellow vanilla cake! Mmmm! Each "cupcake" is decorated with icing, sprinkles, and bright colors eluding to it's scent! For example my Candy Cane Kisses had white frosting, green "cake", and cute red candy cane sprinkles! Each cupcake is themed in color and design to compliment it's scent.
My green bath water hehe!
I got a real kick out of these and thought they'd make lovely stocking stuffers or gifts for the Holidays plus the price isn't at all bad! Bath and Body Works was offering a few separate sets and single cupcakes but now only has a duo available. I guess they sold out quickly!
The good news is you can still grab them directly from the Delish Gourmet Bakery website by visiting www.delishbath.com
Each large cupcake is $6 USD (about the size of my fist) and each mini cupcake is $3 USD. I haven't tried the mini cupcakes so I can't attest for their size however the large cupcakes are quite large and well worth the $6! The cupcakes are available in a slew of "flavors" like Very Berry and Hot Fudge Sundae, each decorated and looking like a real cupcake!
You can purchase Delish Gourment Bakery goodies online of course but they also have "bakeries" located in a few locations around the US. Check out this page for further details about where you can locate a cuppycake or two!
The Muse can't help but Muse Approve these for purchase! She loves the cute details on each cupcake, the inexpensive price tag, the funny little novelty of a cupcake bath bomb, and of course she thinks they'll make an awesome little gift for friends or family!
All the fun of a cupcake without the calories? Likey! Only problem is I have to keep reminding myself I can't eat these! Sometimes looking at 'em makes me hungry!

lol AWWW but Like when you're cheeky lol!
:)
will go look now!
Hi miss Muse ^^
I just wanted to add that Antique Bakery also has a live action drama version of it in Japan. The boys are also cute, and if you dislike yaoi then you might prefer it to the Korean movie since it cuts out pretty much all yaoi scenes (whereas the Korean movie follows the anime closely, if not even more focused on the boy-love scenes).
However I personally like Korean shows more the Japanese ones, so I didn't watch the live action series either ^^
hi cherrysoftness :)
I haven't seen he Japanese version btu had heard of it! Oh no I don't mind Yaio at all I just don't get why people think Antique Bakery is considered a yaio manga when I don't see it as such...I've read yaio manga before and Antique Bakery is far and away from such.
I did notice that the K-version appears to focus much more on the boy love scents which actually takes the manga a bit out of context in some sense considering it wasn't a big theme in the books. But yea absolutely no problems with yaio here :)
I prefer K ones as well. I normally focus on the Japanese to bring me good horror and the koreans for romance and love stories :)
hehe!
Agreed- Kim Jae Wook is totally hot! I almost picked up the Japanese drama of this (since I'm supposedly learning Japanese) but decided against it.
Now I think I may try to find it and get this Korean version too...I think it would be nice to compare the two, don't you (especially since on the Japanese side I like two of the main actors- Abe and Fujiki)?
I've never read the manga either but, I'm totally cool with a little yaoi, depending on who is involved! XD
Anyway, these cupcakes looked delicious- and so do the men!
Great post, Muse! :)
- Miss D
wow... these look so luscious, i just wanna bite into them lol
very nice!
OMG they look so life like!! so yummmyy! I wonder what the frosting and decorations are made out of exactly.
Those are too too cute! I'll have to be careful if I buy some though - I might want to eat them! ^_^
Hey Muse!
How's it going? Those bubble baths look good enough to eat! That green pic is seriously your bath water!?!?!?
I'd like to order them but they'd probably just end up sitting around as they are just too cute to use, kiki.
Thanks for the review! =]
Hi!
Sou ka! I watched the anime version and I think they got plenty of the yaoi content there - maybe the Korean version is going for both the laughs (the anime had intentionally funny yaoi scenes, nothing hardcore haha) and the shock value (novelty).
I mostly stick to anime when I watch Japanese shows. For Korean shows I'm not a big soap watcher but my mom and her secretary are, and they sometimes have marathons when they get DVDs - oh the tears that flow from our living room haha. I like Korean music though, they have a pretty active music scene!
I really liked the Japanese drama version of Antique Bakery. It was nice and relaxing and I love Abe Hiroshi.
...those cupcakes made me super hungry. XD
Soo cute! Hope you have a nice Thanksgiving, Muse :)
Good heavens, an entire bath of yellow cake. Cake being my favorite scent (and taste for that matter) of all-time. That has my name all over it! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
Also, wow. I need to see that movie. Maybe it wasn't yaoi in its true form...but I'm sure not objecting to its present form! I wonder if I can find this playing in Japan...with Japanese subtitles since I don't know a word of Korean...*plots*
Antique Bakery features Jo Ji Hoon~!! *drooling* lol
The bath bombs look absolutely divineeee girlll. haha, it's almost too tempting not to eat it! (:
And yeah I agree with you. The original Antique Bakery manga is definitely not yaoi. It just has a gay character in it and maybe making it a bit "shounen-ai" themed, but definitely no yaoi there. But I do believe that the Korean version really amped the boys-love theme, from what I see in the trailer. I hope it doesn't disappoint!
hi miss d!
Ugh Kim Jae Wook is so yums :) I was hunting around for the Jap version just now as I am curious but I think that the K version will be heaps better!
I totally want to compare the two!
LOL I'm all for some yaoi in my manga too..!
LOL I'm not sure which is more yummie looking..cupcakes or the boys :)
hehe!
Thanks hun!
hi aline!
Aren't they too cute? :) and nice gift idea too!
Hey replied about those films too..I was a bit slow sorry :)
hi Sher!
Aren't they cutes? I'm not sure....they look almost edible!!!!!
hi there ghoulina!
LOL I have to be careful too! they are sitting in a basket in my washroom and they look good enough to chomp on! nom nom!
hi there dark nyx!
LOL don't they!? YES seriously lol! The pic came out blurry though!
LOL I had a hard time cracking one open to use as they are just pieces of art work!
My pleasure ;)
Hugs!
hi there cherrysoftness!
oh hells yes...lol! Although the manga is somewhat subdued which is why I don't think it falls quite under the yaoi content.
I love Japanese Anime and adore Japanese Horror flicks although for my romance and drama I turn to korean.
LOL your mum sounds like me :) I'm quite busy so it sometimes takes me ages to finish one drama but sometimes I'll just have a Sunday where I sit in and watch it completely..oh the tears lol!
I do like Korean pop but I prefer Japanese punk. I'm def in the middle with that :)
hi hana!
LOL the cupcakes made me hungry too!
I need to track down the Japanese version!
hi nicole!
happy belated t-day :)
Aren't they adorable? :-)
hi Jenn!
LOL! An entire bath of yellow cake sounds good to me :) You're most welcome!
Enjoy ;)
hey jenn!
LOL me neither :) LOL well I think they threw in the hat with the movie...plenty of boy love lol!
I don't either :) subtitle city baby!
hey raspy!
Ooo yes Jo Ji Hoon is just as lovely :)
hi Anonymous!
hehe I agree :) I feel like taking a bit..nom nom!
Amen! Someone who agrees :)
i think AB def falls into the shounen-ai range! Couldn't agree more..I'd say the theme of boy love is pretty strong in this flick!
I can't wait to see it :)
looks darlin!
Hello miss Muse!
Hmmm I like yaoi, personally haha ^_^
Japanese punk? Hmmm not sure how that sounds, any artists you can recommend? For Japanese music I turn to visual kei - oh my, honestly, more than make-up or even electronics I have spent my youth ( and perhaps the monetary equivalent of... a Jaguar LOL... on CDs, calendars, DVDs...) listening to and worshipping Gackt, dir en grey, Luna Sea, L'arc, Penicillin, Yoshiki... Ah good times, good times...
hi cherry!
I like yaoi too :) Gackt is one of my flavorites :)
LOL I'm totally with you on all of them :) I'm quite positively Gackt biggest fan!
I enjoy Luna Sea as well and Yoshiki :)
My love for Japanese pop and Korean pop knows no bounds :)
