Hard Candy Sweet Cheeks Liquid Blush Review and Swatches

I have a deep love for Urban Decay cosmetics and it was my staple brand for many, many years however I never quite felt the love for it's sister company, Hard Candy.

I've done a bit of a purchase here and there of a few makeup items from Hard Candy's line however nothing quite grabbed and held my attention like Urban Decay's offerings. A few years back....maybe two years now or three....they released a product called Sweet Cheeks Liquid Blush and it quickly became one of my very favorite items that I reached for daily.

I'm telling you this now because at the moment Sephora's website and certain Sephora stores are still stocking Hard Candy Sweet Cheeks Liquid Blush and it's a ridiculously low price of $3.38 USD down from it's original price tag of $13.50 USD.

I had two of the colors selections already which were Baby and Girlie however during a recent Sephora order I ended up purchasing the other two shades since the prices couldn't be passed up.

If you love Benefit Benetint and Posietint these are something you might be interested in purchasing. Although vastly different in both texture and formula when compared to Benefit stains these are an interesting offering that are worthy of your attention, especially considering they are under $4 USD each!

Blended

The product comes in a nail polish style packaging with a brush applicator for application. Simply dot a few drops on your cheeks and blend and you're left with glowing peachy cheeks that last for hours. The formula acts like a stain with it's incredible long wearing time but feels, looks, and blends like a creamy liquid blush. The blush is a thick creamy liquid that's pigmented and blends much easier than stain as it's not busy dripping down your cheeks do to it's thick consistency.

All of the shade selections available are peachy in color with no pinkish color choices but that doesn't really bother me because they are all rather beautiful and give a great glow to your face. The effect of the blush not only gives warmth to cheeks but also a glow and highlighted look.

Girlie is my favorite as it's a cross between pink and peach. It's possibly the most pigmented and a little bit goes a very long way to create a rather fresh, natural glow to my cheeks.

Sugar is my second favorite and is considerably more peachy in color than Girlie.

Honey Bunny doesn't offer as good a coverage as Sugar and Girlie and acts more like a highlighter for my cheeks than as a blush however this doesn't prevent it from being a very nice shade. I actually like applying a bit of Sugar with Honey Bunny on top for a bit of shimmer! Baby is also not pigmented enough to work fully as a blush however it does well as a highlighter. Baby is lighter peach shade where as Honey Bunny is a bronzy honey shade.

These are truly cute little blushes and well worth stopping at your Sephora to see if any are around left for purchase. I know Sephora has restocked on these several times and currently has 2 of the 4 shades available but do keep your eyes peeled as I did see them restocked several times already. Get them while the getting is good because they'll be long gone before you know it at this price!

Well worth your cash!

The Muse Approves these for purchase! A Steal, a Deal, and a great blush!

Did you haul these?

Want to?

Did you indulge in any Hard Candy now that it's 75% off?

What did you get?

I used to LOVE Girlie Sweet Cheeks. It was such a pretty shade for a flushed look. I gave up using it after it became hard to find.

I want to grab these! I ordered my Hard Candy off their site instead of Sephora's because they had the quads that were out of stock everywhere else. I nabbed almost all of them at 75% off, and a bunch of glitter liners and the SoCal Glow.

It's lovely and only available at Sephora? Sigh... No chance buying it. Add in the shipping fee, it's not worth it anymore. Sigh. >_<

a wee bit sad.

cheers,
plue

Hiya!

I had all of these in my cart at Sephora online when they first appeared on clearance, and then when I clicked the magical "Canadian Checkout" button, the price changed from under $4 USD to $19.00 CDN!!!

WTF!!!

Needless to say, I did not purchase these :(

Hi again :)

I have called CS @ Sephora to ask about the ridiculous differences in price from USD to CDN.

They told me that the manufacturer (in this case, HC/UD) actually SETS the CDN pricing, as well as the USD pricing. So basically, Sephora can't do anything about the price, because that's what the manufacturer wants to sell it for in CDN dollars.

Apparently, this even applies to clearance items. IMHO, that's ridiculous, and doesn't make sense in my experience shopping on their site. Yesterday I put some NARS skincare items in my Sephora cart, clicked to CDN checkout, and one item was BELOW the USD price by a few dollars, and the other one was a full $35 MORE. Again, WTF! If the above explanation actualy made sense, wouldn't the prices be standarized WITHIN the brand you are purchasing? Why would Nars set a CDN price below USD for one item, and substantially above USD on another??

There's been quite a debate on Specktra re: this issue pertaining to MAC pricing as well. I purchase all my cosmetics in the US, or online from US sites for this very reason. Our dollar is practically on par with the USD, so I just cannot justify spending 25-40% more to make that same purchase in Canada.

Damn the Man.

hi again kristy!

Sounds stupid to me! If the item is clearance it should apply to CDN, USD, or anything other currency. In this case HD is literally going out of business so it's twice as silly to charge an obscene amount for products that are going to be trashed in the long run or offered to discount chain stores anyway!

I find it interesting that the nars was lower in price..hmm!
I can't blame you, my friend who lives in London has me purchase ALL her MAC and other cosmetics as well. She's more of a mac whore than anything else and it's considerably cheaper for her with the shipping to buy from here do to obscene price jumping!

Well the moral of the story is if you'd like MAC or these hard candy blushes or anything else for that matter I'll happily purchase it for you!

Just give a shout and a yell!

My email is on my profile love!

Sorry for all this insanity :P I really hate visiting some of my favorite blogs knowing how difficult it'll be to get a product so I appreciate your visiting me here at musings even though I do alot of brands that are considerably higher in cost on your end :P

It's both annoying and lemming creating :)

Hey!

I know - I was even more angry that this was happening to a clearance item! It was totally laughable considering the regular price of these blushes is what - $13 or so? And they were going to charge me $19? Riiiight!

Thanks for the CP offer! That's so nice of you! :) I may take you up on that sometime...the good thing is that I live fairly close to the border (1 hr drive), so if I don't want to purchase my stuff from a website, I have the option of taking a trip and seeing it in person. It is kinda annoying, though. Takes a lot of time, especially if I want non-drugstore stuff - that's about a 4 hour drive one way :(

And no apologies for creating lemmings!! LOL. I love your blog and truly appreciate the time you spend researching and reviewing and responding to q's, etc. Like I said, I purchase almost everything in the US anyways.

Talk soon.

I really appreciate that Kristy thanks. I don't think people realize how much time goes into doing a blog so it's nice to hear when readers are enjoying it!
