Missha Shimmering Oven Blush Review

Missha is a Korean brand that makes a wide variety of cosmetics and skincare. Many of their items are quite good and higher end in comparison to other Korean brands such as Etude House (although for me Etude House remains in my top five favorites list).

I purchased Missha's Shimmering Oven Blush a few months ago and have been using it off and on. One of the key selling points for me was the amazing packaging. The blush comes in a huge metallic pink compact which opens to reveal the shimmering highlighting powder. This comes with a generous size brush which is super soft and fits the contour of your cheek perfectly so it's fairly goof proof getting the powder on correctly.

Although it's name suggests that this is a blush, I think it's safe to say that it does not work as a blush but more as a highlighting shimmering powder. The powder isn't as silky as I'd prefer which is both good and bad. Good, since it doesn't create a mess as you swipe across it with the brush and you're not picking up a ton of product that you're later left shaking out and wasting. Bad, because you have to work a fair deal to get a decent size amount on the brush.

The best way to use this is to apply your blush as normal and proceed to follow up with the Missha Shimmering Over Blush to highlight your cheekbones and face. If you prefer you can dip a sponge applicator into the powder and apply on the highbrow area of your eye for a bit of a shimmering highlight or all over the lid of your eye for a light shadow wash.

The effect on the cheeks is just a really sheer shimmer of pink powder that gives your face subtle glow but nothing too dramatic. This is particularly a great powder if you'd like to add a bit of luminescence to your cheek bones without over doing it with tons of sparkle and shimmer.

The powder comes in three shades selections, a white marble, a peach marble, and the one I got in pink. These retail for 17,800 won but I got mine for 14,000 won or so as the day my friend purchased it the website was having a sell at 20% off.

The packaging along makes this a winner item however the formula does need a tiny bit of work to get the Muse's full approval on it. The price is right, the packaging is wonderful, but the formula could use a little work, I like it alot but I'm not loving it.

hi wen!

How are you honey!?

Long time no speak!

Most of Missha's website is built around image files with little text so I just kinda feel my way through it :(

Sadly I don't understand the characters so I kinda wing it.

Same prob here..can't copy most of it in Babel and my translating widget in firefox doesn't translate most of it either.

So I just sorta wing through :)

Hope this helps!

ok, so i guess missha's website is not as non-korean-friendly as skinfood's. i think you can copy almost everything to translate on the korean's skinfood website.

but thanks! i shall explore more! haha.

hi muse!
I love that I can rely on you to report something about products that I might want to get :P
I found out that Missha is having a 50/40/30/20% off on some of their products, and this is one of them on the list.
I wish it was more pigmented...
anyway thanks for the great review on the product^^
