Lush Rub Rub Rub Shower Gel Review
Lush introduced two new shower gels during a UK Forum party recently and your Muse happened to order a few of both.
Normally during a forum party there are special items offered that are not available within stores or online. These items are made exclusively for forum members and the general public may never know they exist if they never joined the UK Forum to hear about them.
For instance did you know that Lush has made several perfumes over the years such as Snowcake perfume, Snow Fairy perfume, Honey I Washed the Kids perfume....betcha didn't know that did ya?
Your Muse has 'em all ;-)
Strangely enough Lush UK did something a little bit difference this time around. During the party we were told a brand new, forum exclusive shower gel batch was being made up for forum members which of course made everyone hyper and quite excited. However, this time the shower gel actually made it to the shelves of stores and online!
As you can see my bottle is marked "Forum Special"
Interesting!
That shower gel is entitled Rub Rub Rub. I fear the name isn't all that inventive but fitting in for an exfoliating shower gel.
It just so happens that Rub Rub Rub contains very tiny grains of salt for scrubbing those rough elbows, knees and dry bits on your body! This is slightly disappointing for me since I adore multitasking with Lush shower gels and using them not only on my body but also on my hair. Lush suggests you can use Rub Rub Rub as shampoo and in all honesty the pieces of salt in the product are way smaller than what you'd find in Big Shampoo however I'm still somewhat skeptical about using it as a shampoo!
I love scrubs! I have dry skin so anything that softens my skin is always a welcome addition to my skincare routine however I really don't like exfoliating shower gels. I dunno why but I just don't like the texture and formula for some reason thus I'm a bit put off by Rub Rub Rub. I personally think a scrub is a scrub and a shower gel is a shower gel and never shall the two meet.
So imagine my disappointment when Rub Rub Rub arrived and I used it the first time realizing it was a scrubbing gel! I guess I wasn't paying attention during the party to realize as such!
The plus side of Rub Rub Rub is that it does smell positively gorgeous. If you know what Sakura Bath Bomb or my beloved and missed 17 Cherry Tree Lane Soap you'll understand the scent of Rub Rub Rub. The smells are identical to these two items. The scent is a lemony fresh mimosa smell that's truly fresh, slightly fruity, and very addicting.
The Muse really adores the smell but she could have done with out the sea salt!
Sigh.
Oh well!
The moral of the story is if you simply adore shower gels with scrubby bits this one is for you! However, if you're more a fan of keeping shower gels as a shower gel you might want to skip this one.
I recommend grabbing a small bottle and giving it a shot! At the very least it smells wonderful and I do love that part about it however I can't love the grainy feeling it has while I'm rubbing it on my body and trying to get clean with it!
Stay Tuned for a review of Lush's other new shower gel entitled Yummy Yummy Yummy!
Retro Lush is Here!
Did you know there are over 20 new lovely things available from Lush?

Hi Muse!
I adore 17th cherry tree lane soap, i miss it so much! You know, I practice kendo and that soap is one of the few things that keeps the smell out of the kendo protections! It's like a miracle!
I have a friend completely in love with the soap, he got so dissapointed when it dissapeared... I'll tell him about this new gel.
Lots of hugs,
-PaoPao-
PS.- Vanishing cream is AMAZING, best moisturizer i've ever tried!!!
hi pao pao!
Me too! I heart it. I have sakura perfume from the forum rounds and simply adore it! whoa kendo! That's awesome!
The new gel might interest a guy as they have plenty of dry bits :) scrubby fun!
Fantastic! I can't WAIT to try the new ones :)
Ooooh! Sakura bath bomb sounds like it's really nice. I happen to love Jasmine. I even have Jasmine perfume oil from the body shop. I used to wear it on my pulse points.
Hi Muse!
Yes unfortunately the Rub Rub Rub is just a little... meh.... I love the scent but I ended up with a totally clogged up top cap... I already told you I think haha!
Of course I ordered from Lush UK to get the samples of the new creams. I really want to try them!! I'll keep you posted!
Oh and I'm so jealous of your Silky Underwear liquid perfume. That scent was made for me, I love it to pieces. I'll be so pleased if I ever get my hands on one!! I love the Candy Fuff and Black Pearl too btw! Yum!
Have a great day!
Bianca
hey dd!
It's amazing! Really fresh and lemony plus with that hint of floral :)
I heart Jasmine too! it's such an exotic scent!
hiya Bianca!
ya :( sadness sigh! That stinks even worst. No probs here with that but still it was just such a blah sg! I expect more from Lush!
Do give me the good word when you get 'em :)
I ADORE SU :) Best scent ever!!!! I love them too! Candy Fluff is my fav and I miss Black Pearl Bomb so much!!!!!!!!! :(
I never thought I would like a salt scrub for my wavy long blond hair, but this stuff is surprisingly G-R-E-A-T! My hair can be dry, but I rarely need conditioner after Lush's Rub Rub Rub. The consistency and how it works (lathers) in my hair as well as on my skin took getting used to. It is not super bubbly, but I like it. The smell is lovely not overwhelming long lasting. - Give it a try! You might like it. :)
hi anonynmous!
I was wondering if it would work well on my hair! I use big so I assumed it would be as good :)
I def will try it! I bet the salt in it also gives a nice scrub down for your scalp! I love the scent :) Sakura is my fav lush smell!
