Benefit B Spot Review
I recently got my greedy hands on Benefit B Spot while I was at Macy's and although I wasn't intending to buy after one sniff I knew I needed to have this.
I originally blogged about this but didn't really think I'd indulge as I knew of a few other fragrances I really wanted to try prior to shelling out my cash for this particular scent however I sure am glad I decided to stop and sniff.
It's simply gorgeous. I really should have know as such since Benefit's Maybe Baby is such a roaring success with the Muse (and the Muse's sister who possibly loves it more than me!).

I do so admit to thinking the notes on this particular scent were a bit wonky. I mean mangoes, freesia, peony and sandalwood sounds like ALOT to take on. Turns out they all work rather well together in a nice neighborly fashion to create Benefit B Spot.
I'm not great at explaining scent as you maybe noticed from my previous posts about perfume and such but I'll do my best. The scent is very calming, very fresh, and very potent. The freesia is the most prominent note in the blend and it dominates however the edge of the sandalwood plus the floral and fruit take away from the cheapness freesia note to create a very unique and interesting blend. Freesia is a lovely scent however it does hold a certain cheapness about it simply because it's used in so many body sprays around and after a while you begin to associate freesia with every $5 buck body spray you see hanging out on drugstore shelves.
However, the blend is very, very interesting and unique. It's quite fresh but it holds a certain seductive feel about it. Interestingly enough spraying this on certain areas of your body will heat the fragrance and allow it to release the scent as your body temperature warms.
Benefit has always successfully created quality Eau de Toilette that holds well, lingers, and creates fantastic throw all day long. The lasting power on this is brilliant. It'll take you from morning till night with absolutely no touch ups in between and in the case of Eau de Toilette that's saying ALOT. The scent just lingers on and on!
Recently I was sitting in the back seat of the car with a colleague (and friend) from Chicago who asked what I was wearing. This was saying something as I had sprayed myself with B Spot at 5 AM and here it was going on 6 in the evening and I was obviously still smelling wonderful if she noticed! At $38 USD for 1.7 oz this is not alot to spend on a good quality fragrance that offers considerably long wear.
I think Benefit has ALWAYS excelled at creating super fragrances as Maybe Baby can attest to that.

agghhh, the computer just ate my answer. Naughty computer.
Babel fish....from the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Universe, by Douglas Adams (brilliant!). Originally from the Bible (not bad) and the Book of Genesis. Arthur was given a babel fish, which was able to translate alien languages in a very Tardisesque manner. Gotta stick it in your ear though, unlike the Tardis. Just as well really.

Interesting question Muse! Since I'm not a Christian, I rely on Mt. Google for my answer:
Apparently, the Babel Fish got its name from the story of the Tower of Babel in the Bible (Gen 11: 1-9.) At that time, human beings were arrogant and decided to build a tower that reached heaven. And God punished them by creating language barrier so they could not communicate with each other.
Now, the Babel Fish was created to bridge the language barrier. It is an automatic language translation tool that allows users to translate one language to another for free! I think it is cool but sometimes it's kinda awkward. One time a friend of mine used it to "write" his own German assignment and it did not come out too well.
Anyways, that's my answer and I want that sample! Please, the Muse, give it to me! I wanna!

Oh, I know that one!!! :) It's from Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy...it's a little yellow fish/leech thing that feeds on brainwaves! DH and I watched the film a couple of months ago.

In Mythology, Babylon had people from all over speaking one language and building the tower of Babel to glorify Man. God decided to get the people confused by making them speak different languages. Hence translation tools are often referenced to as "Babel" something or the other.
Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! I adore that series! The babel fish is a little fishie that goes in your ear and lets you understand other languages. Being the language geek that I am I always got a giggle out of that one - if only! But okay, I'm game...the babel fish is from Douglas Adams' books, right from the gitgo with Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, so our intrepid hero can understand alien languages. (Lots!) It's a squirmy little thing that you pop in your head to osmose the understanding of foreign tongues you hear into your brain.
I read the first two books but never finished the series due to my finding Frank Herbert's Dune series...
I think Babel Fish comes from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I remember there was a fish from the future that made translation to any language, it was like a earphone ...

Babelfish, it's the little translator fish (small, yellow and leechlike if I remember correctly - yes I am a geek) in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! It appears in the fifth chapter when Arthur and Ford are trapped with the vogons. Some thinkers have even seen the Babel fish as the proof of God not existing! Lol, I adore it!

How did you get the samples? Not two weeks before you posted this I was at Macy's in Boston asking for a sample of this and was told they weren't going to make fragrance samples.

I just walked up to my macy's counter, purchased b spot and the SA gave me three small samples. I don't know why they told you they didn't have samples.
