New Year's Resolutions
I've gone and decided to make a few Resolutions for myself this year that I so know I'll break but it's fun making them anyway and looking back next year to see if I actually keep any of 'em!
What are some of yours?
Mine are (in no particular order):
- Drink more water!
I'm a big fan of tea and it's my main drink of choice (I was British in my previous life. Serious!). This year I've decided that I'll add more then 64oz (8 glasses) of water into my diet. It does wonders for my skin so that's totally an added bonus!
- I'll stop stockpiling K-Dramas and start watching them!
I have a wicked, weird habit of purchasing the newest K-Dramas on DVD as soon as they launch on YesAsia. I literally stockpile K-Drama like it's the end of the world and these dramas will somehow aid me during the demise of the planet. I've found that I'm way too busy to get through an entire set and my collection is becoming so vast that it's taking over my DVD shelf. So this year I've decided that I won't so much as glance at any K-Drama boxsets without first watching what I already have! Bloody hell I have ones that were released in '03! How's that for ridiculous (I also happen to do this with Bollywood, Anime and Japanese horror films! But thankfully it's not as bad as my obsession with Korean soaps or maybe it is hmmmmm!!).
Holy cow I think I have Hotelier for 3 years now and only watched the first episode! SHEESH!
- I will only buy parts of a collection rather then entire collections!
Again, my obsessive nature gets the best of me and I find that I do the age old, collect them all, pokemon type deal with cosmetic collections! I've decided this year I will only buy what I need rather then entire lots of items at once! I'm ridiculously addicted to cosmetics and I'm hoping to think with my head this year and not be so compulsive with my purchases!
- I will use my limited edition products without feeling guilty!
Limited Edition cosmetics bring out the parental side of my nature. I take extra special care of items if I don't think I'll be able to get them again and most times I find myself not even using them which is completely and utterly shameful! I collect Chanel palettes and have some over 8 years old untouched, brand new, in the box. That's fabulously awful and this year I've decided I will start breaking into my beauty vault without feeling like I'm breaking the law! I've already started on this resolution when I cracked open one of my bottles of Guerlain Forever Gold and went right ahead and used it! Click here for details!
I will use that eyeshadow palette this year! I will use those meteorites this year! I will! I will! Maybe! Kinda....Sorta.....
- I'll organize my e-mail better and reply faster!
I'm terrible with e-mail! I'm unorganized and leave people awaiting replies for ages on end! It's so utterly rude of me but in my defense I will say that I'm uber busy with life, the universe, and everything so sometimes it's really difficult to get replies out! I have so many people I want to talk to at once and sometimes I'm just too disorganized to get replies out quickly!!!!!! This year I vow I'll take better care of my inbox and stop avoiding the mess and start cleaning it up! It's rather weird that I'm so unorganized when it comes to e-mail as I'm quite an organized person (hell I have my CD's in alphabetical order and my DVD's seperated into genres!) but it's just one of those things I guess!
- I'll stop giving millions of dollars to Steve Jobs (Right after MacWorld Expo 2008)
This will never happen but I thought I'd add it in anyway.
I'm gonna stop biting your Apple Steve! It's too bloody expensive to be a Mac lover!
- I will not buy designer shoes and purses that cost more than my future child's (if I have any that is) education!
I promise to get right on this Resolution bandwagon as soon as I have these Jimmy Choo half boots in my possession! Honest! I swear!
It's easy enough to give up LV when J-Lo is doing scary ads for them (That disgruntled pissed off look on her face is from paying $1999999999.00 for that bag she's holding! How do I know? I wear the same expression when leaving the store with similar bags in tow...well....maybe not.....but the blissful utopia soon ends when the credit card statement comes in the mail! J-Lo must have just gotten her statement! See how she's ready to fling the bag at someone! "Marc Anthony get over here I need to whip your arse with this bag so I feel better about the cash I dropped on it!")
I love shoes and I love purses and paying obscene amounts of money for them really is sick. E-Luxury sent me a Christmas card this year that must mean I'm either a good customer or I went way overboard! I need to utilize Bag, Borrow, and Steal more often! Click!
- I'll adapt my musical tastes to the general population!
My taste in music runs from the extreme to the weird. It includes everything from Classical to J-Rock to Heavy Metal and Vintage Rock to Acid (especially Dutch Trance please thanks so much) and most definately Euro Trash oh and don't forget Show Tunes (Can you say John Barrowman? Hey before Who and Torchwood the man had a singing career (and still does except for his tiny little mistake with his latest CD but no worries he'll bounce back!)! I rarely venture outside of listening to any of the newer songs that can be found on regular radio stations. About 50% of my CD collection consists of Japanese Rock (I have a rather die hard crush on Gackt. I can't help myself bishōnen really do it for me!) So basically my main problem is if you stick what's her name..oh ya...Carrie Underwood or some other "pop" favorite flavor of the month under my nose I'll probably sneer and turn away! So my Resolution is to accept the flavor of the month and know more about it so when someone casually mentions Carrie Underwood or that Montana girl or those three brothers what are their names? Jonie Brothers? Well if someone casually mentions these people or their songs in a conversation I can be somewhat versed on who they are instead of giving a blank stare and later replying with "Who?" Honestly, I feel rather retarded when someone mentions a popular song and I haven't a clue about it! Another reason I'm bringing this up is because my sister Tivo'ed Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve, don't ask me why she does this it seems rather pointless to watch this crap after the fact but she does and hey who am I to judge. Anyway she recorded it and about half the musical guests were not even remotely familiar to me. For instance, at one point on Tuesday morning I walked in and that annoying Ryan Seacrest was interviewing the Montana chick and I looked at my sister and said "Who's that?" (and no it wasn't because I had an extremely lately night! I generally didn't know who the girl was!). I later realized that I should KNOW about this girl as people are literally lying to get tickets to her concert and paying huge sums of cash to attend (Thanks to Google I know all there is to know about her now!)! It's like I'm completely out of touch with the American musical population (and I live in America! There in lays part of the problem! I should know this stuff right?!?!?!)! This year I shall educate myself on popular music!
Go from this:
To This:
- I'll work harder on my relationship!
Ahh Edie and Michael! I can't think of a better picture for this resolution!
Long distance relationships suck. My boyfriend lives in England (I honestly don't think I could ever settle for a man that wasn't English) and I live in New York (not always hopefully) and over the course of several months I feel like our relationship has hit rock bottom. I'd love to be able to pick myself up, dust myself off, and try harder to make things work better. Stop being sensitive, stop with stupid fights, be more understanding, etc.....I think we generally drive each other nuts lately (or maybe I'm driving him nuts!) and we somehow forgot how to do the thing we do best together, have a laugh. And make fun of Americans! I'm kidding, I'm kidding! I'm a yank myself why would I ever do a thing like that?! I meant to say he'll make fun of the Americans and I'll laugh when none are around! See? I'm patriotic and respectful to my country! In all seriousness when you're fighting so very much with the person you love so much it's literally kills you a little bit inside with each harsh word and causes for many a sleepless night. I wish we could just laugh again!
- I'll take better care of my undereye area!
You read my blog so you know how obsessive I've been about my undereyes lately and wrinkles! 30 came in October and since then it seems my undereyes decided to say "ok it's time for us to begin puffing up, wrinkling, and generally behaving badly"! So I've decided I'll take better care of my undereye area (10 years too late but hey maybe I can reverse the damage!)! I've been using eye cream since I was like 18 but it appears it hasn't done much to help with the tiny lines I see forming! I think it has to do with me and my roughness when quickly applying my concealer! This year I'm not going to smooth on I'm going to pat on gently. Wish me luck as the urge to smooth is hard upon me most mornings!
For treating my eyes overnight!
For treating my eyes throughout the day!
Be gone puffiness!
- I will absolutely NOT keep ever issue of Heavy Metal, Vogue, and Doctor Who Annual!
I plan to stick to my guns this year on this. I'm a bit of a geek (I use the term "bit of" very loosely as I wouldn't want to admit being a full blown geek to my readers when I've tricked you all into believing how very posh, suave, and generally awesome I am. I'm exaggerating a little aren't I?) so that's where Heavy Metal and Doctor Who Annual come into play. I have issues of Heavy Metal dated back to the late 80's sometimes I wonder if there might be a teenage boy hidden in my body or something (lord knows I hope NOT!). I do the same with Vogue, I think it stems from my hidden hope that one day I'll meet Tom Ford and we'll sit down, have a cuppa and pour over my backdated copies of Vogue together (and maybe he'll realize he doesn't want Ivan anymore and would rather play house with me! What?! A girl can dream can't she?!)! I'm a sad little human being when it comes to Fantasy Art and Vogue. At least Doctor Who Annual can be controlled some (especially since it bloody sucks as of late) but Vogue and Heavy Metal is a bit (again I use that "bit of" terminology very loosely!) out of control at the moment. It's really a rather sad little habit of mine and it needs to stop. I'm obviously a packrat as you can see. I've challenged myself to dig in and E-bay off some of my older issues of Heavy Metal without crying over them when I do it and thrash some of my issues of Vogue. My eyes are watering as I type this....
SOLD! For One Trillion dollars on E-bay (well maybe not this particular issue but I can definately find a 1977 issue that'll nab me a $100! WAIT! I know! I can be like this guy and sell it all in a LOT! Click!)
Trash awaits me love!
You might have to pry this issue from my cold dead hands because chances are I won't let it go while blood is still pumping through these veins!
- Organize CP's better!
I'm always happy to arrange a CP for lovely people but the problem is that I'm too busy to get items shipped out in a timely fashion! So I'm sitting ontop of things for ages on end while these poor, poor people await their items! I've resolved myself to do better with shipping CP's out in a timely fashion! I aim to be timely and more organized with CP's in 2008! Wish me luck!
- And finally last but never least.....be the best person I can be!
I've got this covered already I think as I'm not such a bad sort ;) I'm generous, I'm very kind, I'm sweet, I have flawless good manners (Told you I was British in another life didn't I?), I'm giving, I'm honest to a flaw....I'm the super hero type disguised in the short, round, and average suit. Well maybe not super hero.......
Hopefully I didn't bore you too much with my Resolutions! I firgure if I have them down in written format somewhere I'll be more inclined to keep them! Plus I have all of you to keep me on the straight and narrow path!
So....what are your Resolutions this year? Any pack rats like me?
Tell your Muse!

Haha I am first one to comment!!
Oh my god!!!
I didn't know you were fan of Korean soaps!!!
Since I am a Korean girl, I am quite surprised~~
I was intrigued by your blog quite a while ago
and couldn't resist visiting this blog everyday!!!
That Hotelier is sooooo old actually i didnt even watch it either. If you want to save your money instead of
buying DVD, I recommend you to go to websites like
www.mysoju.com or www.crunchyroll.com
They have vast amount of Korean movies and soaps!! (I recommend you soaps like 'SOULMATE', 'COFFEE PRINCE' I am sure you would enjoy them!)
Your resoulution seems really realistic!!!
My resolution is also to drink lots of water and more exercise. Basically will do whatever to keep me young and cute kkkk.
Happy new year to you!!
Hi Humming!
I should have a prize for 1st commentors ;)
I am indeed. Korean pop culture (as well as Japanese and Thai) fascinate me! I adore K-Dramas and find them way better then anything I can get in the US. Our soaps are just mentally awful here in the US and I have absolutely no patience for them! But sit me in front of a K-drama and I'll happily watch for ages on end!
Oh my gosh :) *blush* thanks for visiting with me everyday it's greatly appreciate ;)
Hotelier is indeed ages and ages old this is why my resolution is to actually watch this stuff as it's years old before I see it! Lord!
Oh wow! Thanks for those two links and they are subtitled! So fab! Something awesome for me to procrastinate at work to ;) hehehe!
I've never seen Soulmate or Coffee Prince! Will definately check them out! Thanks :)
I'm really loving Moon Geun Young she's so adorable and I've loved her last few movies! One of my fav K-Dramas is my Lovely Sam Soon! I really like the cute and funny ones. The depressing lost love sad ones I can't really get too into. Far to weepy ;)
LOL I'll do whatever to keep myself young too ;-) Sounds like a plan to me!
Happiest New Year to you and thanks for the those two awesome links! Do comment anytime :) I'd love to hear back from you!
Hugs!
gosh, can I marry you???? lol
You are funny...the thing about laughing at Americans??? How could you?! My American husband and I would *never* stoop that low. heehee- actually, he is worse than I am most of the time!!
So, your boyf is in England? That's tough. What do you like about English men? The accent? I like Scottish men myself (course, you knew that ;) ). Having an english accent is a distinct advantage living over here though- gets me loads more attention than I think I'd normally get!
btw, the tea thing- if you were truely English in a past life, you will be sipping your tea with milk and sugar (the sugar isn't obligatory, but does give you onus Brit points).
Oh, have you seen Billie Piper's new drama, 'Confessions Of A Call Girl"? Just watched the first episode and...whewwwww...wouldn't get that on primetime TV over here, that's for sure!!!
My New Year's Resolutions:
1. Stop being such a bitch to my friends and start e-mailing them back in a timely fashion. I suck at e-mail.
2. Start being more of a bitch to my father, who is a controlling, made-of-fail bastard.
3. Give Jonesy (my pet) more playtime.
4. BUY MORE ACTION FIGURES. god damn am I missing some neat crap thanks to my makeup fixation (I'm SO buying the Jigsaw killer figure when it's released. oh Tobin Bell, how I adore you).
5. Track down Dior's Wildest Blue, Givenchy's Iced Mint, and god knows how many other blue glosses. Although I finally did get my hands on a Sparkling Sea from Guerlain.
6. Try to work more on my artwork, which I've been seriously neglecting as of late.
7. LEARN TO APPLY MASCARA WITHOUT GETTING ALL OVER MY GODDAMN FACE.
8. Finally order a custom-made long-line tight-lacing withstandable Victorian corset with shoulder-straps, both to help my back and to start tight-lacing seriously. My underbust longline Victorian is falling apart.
9. Try to talk to my fiancee more (we're in a long-distance relationship too and dear god does it suck. we're in different time zones and I always end up missing her.)
10. Beat "Tomb Raider Anniversary" with mostly pistol usage. That one's probably impossible but hell, I'll try it anyways.
......I think that's everything.
I hope you had a good holiday my dear!
P.S.:
Ahhh, I'm glad you got my picture! And thank you for the compliment: I don't think of myself as gorgeous though. I've always thought of myself as plain like a whitewashed wall. Not ugly, not pretty, just...plain.
My fiancee tells me I look like a Mayan priestess, my best friend tells me I look like Bahar Soomekh from "Saw III" and I think I look like the proverbial younger sister of Valentina Vargas, an actress from an obscure horror film that I love ("Hellraiser: Bloodline" which was not NEARLY as bad as all the damn reviews said it would be) so I really don't know if I'm pretty or not. But thank you! It means a lot coming from you.
And! and and. I'm working like hell to perfect my FOTDs. So hopefully I can have 'em in to you within the next two weeks. I've had to practice at night because if my parents see me doing my makeup, they'll either laugh at me or tell me I'm wasting my time. I don't think they understand that makeup's just another form of artwork to me.
But eh. Texas could be overrun by the fast "28 Days Later"/"28 Weeks Later" zombie hoards and it still wouldn't change the fact that I'll get my FOTDs done! I've added Armani's Black Gem holiday look and Givenchy's Diamantisimme holiday look to my FOTD queue as well though Givenchy's may not work seeings how I don't believe I have a shimmery powder that'll fake the Prisme Solitaire.
Oh! And since my best friend is in town and we plan on going to the Galleria, I'll absolutely send you photos of my haul that I take home that day! Believe me, it'll be a ton of useless pretty shiny things! I'm hoping that by the time we go Saks will get in Givenchy's Denim Fetishe collection and I can buy that delectable blue polish.
I shall shut the hell up and get back to practicing!
Have a good evening, dear!
I prefer J-Drama myself.
Have you seen Nyokei Kazuko (2005)? I caught an ep. on TVJ, and now I'm addicted. I can't find a DVD anywhere though! @#$%^! Those actresses look so flawless! I must figure out the secret to their perfect, plastic skin and their immaculately coiffed hair!
Your boyfriend lives in England? What a coincidence! My girlfriend lives in France (well, not really, but it'll make more sense once you read my post about it).
Don't care much for British men myself (unless they're older. Much, MUCH older. And rich. Filthy, stinking rich).
I'm with Lucy: Scots are hot! It's that damn accent; does it every time! English accents, not so much...
PS: Did you receive your Thrrrob powder? I got mine today (FINALLY!) and feel a bit letdown. I hope to post the review as soon as I emerge from this depression.
'ello lucy ;)
Thanks for dropping by again and lighting up my blog with your comments :)
Oh yes of course I accept. I've always wanted to marry a proper british lady! We can grow old together in the country in a little cottage all our own and watch who reruns with a bit of To the Manor Born thrown in!
LOL I'm glad it made you laugh! Hopefully I haven't insulted *blush* too many of my American readers and mates here with that silly comment! But honestly when you're American you really have to step back take a look at this country, the government, culture, and some of the people and just have a bit of a laugh you know? I think most Americans can do that..I hope....or is it only me? I picture myself being called out like Jonny Depp and taken completely out of context for saying that LOL!
"OH MY GOD THE MUSE HATES AMERICA AND AMERICANS!!!" oh something dramatic like that!
Hear ye, hear ye! I am a native New Yorker. I was born and raised in this country and I love it enough to laugh at it!
And I still believe the British should rule the planet....along with the Japanese coming in a close 2nd!
My god now I know why you live in the US! They threw you out of England for marrying an American! Hehe I'm kidding! I'm kidding! How did you meet your yankee husband might I ask?
He must be something to have gotten you to move to this god forsaken country ;)
The light of my life and bane of my existence lives in Nottingham with Robin Hood so did a majority of his rather awesome family.
The accent is always nice. Especially his for some reason. I think he thinks he sounds rough but to my ears he sounds like a bloody genteel. I think he sometimes forgets who he's talking to (an American) so all his sentences run together and he talks really fast and my brain isn't nearly fast enough to adjust to his accent so sometimes I'm sitting there not really knowing what he said but the accent is so great that I don't mind so much. LOL! My best mate, Libs, lives in London and her accent is completely different and she's more slower of talk with a good bit of crazy cockney throw in. Her I don't have the same problem with but him for some reason it all runs together. It's absolutely the most charming thing in the world. I adore it. Even though I'm clueless at points.
Anyway that was rather gushy wasn't it and not in replying to your question.
I find Brits men much more clever, full of wit and piss as compared to American men. They also aren't nearly as judgmental as Americans.
American men want the perfect size 4. At least I've found that. I'm short, round, and average and American men just aren't into that combo. Brits don't mind it. if you're a bit witty, have a good sense of humor you have a good chance nabbing yourself a nice enough fella in England. Where as here you can be funny and smart and gain yourself a male friend but not a lover! I'm like a magnet for men to be friends with but not good enough girlfriend material somehow.
Just find British men smarter, funnier.....I like someone to match wits with. Someone that can laugh. American men aren't nearly as funny or witty. If I make a dry joke in my sarcastic little way it really takes an American a second to get it. Where as a Brit picks it up right away!
Oh gosh I gotta admit that the accent most definately gets people to chat. When my best mate comes over people will literally just stop her in shops to ask where she's from and what's she doing over etc..people are generally curious about British accents for some reason! It's all rather funny. We live in such a big world and people act like they have never been exposed to British culture (probably because they haven't I guess) so it's rather weird to have someone just stop and ask wow where are you from? etc....Americans automatically assume that every Brit is either from London or visiting when in fact some live here DUH! hehe!
LOL bonus points for sugar got it :) I love a good cream tea does that give me bonus points too or just more fat around my arse? hehe!
I haven't but Jonny, that's my BF, had mentioned it to me a few months ago. I was wanting to see it. I'm sure sooner or later we'll get it here! My oh my billie piper getting nasty on telly! LOL! She's in a remake of Mansfield Park soon did you know? It'll be on PBS shortly! I'm missing her rather badly on Who. She was lovely. Cute as pie. I was looking at her wedding pics earlier and David looking rather dap in his burgundy velvet suit! Should be illegal to look that yummie! She was interviewed recently and said she isn't sure she can get into being Rose anymore. She was practicing in front of the mirror but it wasn't coming to her. That's rather sad. I'm somewhat worried about the idea of an eppy with her but no contact with the Doctor!??! What would be the point of that?! :( Sigh...again..I do miss her and Mickey...Jackie...etc..!
I'm very eager for Torchwood's Season 2 to begin! I hope they don't make Freema all lovesick over John Barrowman. They overdid it with Who and her crush.
We also get Jamie at Home soon. I'm a Jamie Oliver fan so that should be nice. It's old as sin, believe a year or more but I'm happy to have it as he's been off the air, US side, far too long.
You're a Who fan, have you heard or seen the Sarah Jane adventures yet? God she's old as crust I'm not sure about that show but am curious!
Anyway this has turned rather long hasn't it? ;)
Thanks again for the comment!
many hugs!
'ello Angelique!
Happy New Year! Looks like you have quite a list there ;)
I know the feeling about email! I'm ALWAYS delayed! hell I owe you a nice thank you for the picture you sent along to me and still I haven't replied! I'm awful unorganized with emails!
LOL I find that I get mascara on the top of my highbrow whenever I'm using asian mascara of any kind as it's so much like ink texture and lengthens my lashes to such extremely heights that I blink and it gets on my lower cheek and my upper highbrow!
I love corsets!!!!! I have tons! I purchase really rather beautiful homemade ones from Etsy sometimes! Tons to be had!
Ditto for Jonny and I. He's about 5 hours ahead of me :( And England sure is far away. Feels like planets away at times sigh!
I wouldn't mind beating more games with more pistol usage myself as I'm such a run through type. The only game I do serious hardcore carnage with would be CoD everything else I'm mostly a run through type especially with it's an RPG like TR!
I have a lovely Holiday thanks :) Hope yours was brilliant too!
Hey mandys ;)
Whatcha doing lovie? I missed your sarcasm today! Work is not work without getting a few clever comments from you on my blog ;)
I like J Drama too but for some reason I really enjoy K Drama better. I'm also highly addicted to crazy Bollywood films.
Nyokei Kazuko is WAYYYYYYYYYY too dramatic for me, I'm more a cute bubblegum pop soap type. Boy meets girl, boy loves girl, boy marries girl type of thing. I really hate the age old storyline on most K-Dramas...boy meets girl...boy and girl fall deeply in love...girl has terminal illness..girl dies...boy is broken hearted. I seen it a while ago. I got a copy off yahoo auctions. For some reason it wouldn't work in my region free player though but I ripped it, reburned and it worked fine. So just be warned about that. It's such a bitch to rip and burn all those dvds. It was VCD format but my player didn't like the format at all! I normally never have a problem but dunno what happened.
LOL I agree all Asian girls look absolutely flawless in movies and tv shows! They are downright perfect.
Ha! We are in the same boat. Bloody long distance relationships! I started reading your blog earlier but I got busy at work and didn't get a sec to complete. I especially wanted to finish reading about your facial brush!
LOL! Well..sadly he's not older nor stinking rich ;) But he's sweet that counts for something right!??!?! ;)
LOL you're both saying scots are hot because you're on a David Tennant kick!
Not yet. I just checked actually and it doesn't seem to have shipped...mmm..I want it damnit. really it's a letdown? oh noes :( I really wanted to love it. Benefit is so hit and miss sigh!
RANT!
Aw why depressed?!
Feel better soon love!
Hugs!
LOL I see your "girlfriend" now!
LOL!
I’m having trouble with blogger, so I’m sorry if I ended up posting this like 12 times:
I never bothered to check eBay for the DVD! That should've been my first stop! Thanks for the tip-off; I'll try to get my hands on it!
Ugh! Bollywood! A few weeks ago, my family hosted a performance by a Desi musician who has a song in an upcoming Bollywood film (yeah, one of the 200 coming out next month). He was reminiscing about the time he met Sharukh Khan. Ugh! He offered to put SK on the line (as he had his #) and let him talk to us. Bitch, please! Call me when you've got Mahatma Freakin’ Gandhi on the other line! Yes, I know he’s dead, but make it happen!
Seriously though, according to the guy's driver (who sits backstage at local performances) the BWood stars are all nice and friendly each in public but backstage, none of them even talk to each other. Eh. Personally, I only like Indian films from the golden era, the '30s-50s.
You're so lucky you have a British BF! Does he have a brother? With a British Passport? 'Cause I'll totally marry him (no, I'm not attracted to Brits, I'm just a raging Anglophile. Which means I hate Britain as much as the Brits do, but couldn't live anywhere else).
Ewwww... David Tennant. *retches* You could've said 'John Barrowman', y'know (I know he doesn't have the accent, but still!).
I'm just depressed 'cause the Thrrrob was a let-down and proves that I'm foolish enough to fall for Benefit time and time again. I'll post on it tonight.
Hello The Muse,
Happy New Year to you!
One of my New Year's resolutions is to continue to stay under my annual budget for cosmetics. (I did in 2007!)
Another one is not to stay up that often. (Less late-night blogging...:)...)
Speaking of which...I should head to bed now...
Talk to you again soon! :)
mmmm, Why is tea British? It is of Asian origin. I can see you are a big fan of Asian culture, but how can you not know this? Tea is a favorite drink of many Asians. I can't help but a little insulted since I am Chinese and I feel that the British did a lot of horrible things in Asia. Of course I have nothing against the British, but to say that tea-drinking is British when it was simply appropriated from Asian culture (violently at points and also demeaningly via India) is a little....ignorant.
See this link for reference.

Hey Mandy!
Not e-bay love! yahoo auctions ;) You can double check e-bay but not sure if anyone has it!
I loveeeeee bollywood :)
LOL indeed 200 is appropriate! It's fascinating now many releases they have per a month! Unlike hollywood!
LOL! Oh my god I wouldn't mind talking to SRK! I'd love it! Hehehehe!
I love the 70's. Those were some fab ones! AB doing his little number and shaking his arse in the 70-80's films is lovely!
LOL I'm a hardcore Anglo as well! Sadly his brother is quite gay but you never know you might have the power of Christ to compel him!
I love the UK it's so comfy for me! The rain is a plus too ;)
John Barrowman is lovely but sadly again, gay. Sigh. I wouldn't mind a bite of that kitkat bar. ;)
I'm so shocked throb is such a let down it looks near purpose. Is it chalky? too bright? :( God figures. Guess I have to make a trip to the store if I'm hating it!
No problem. I had a few problems earlier with blogger :P
Hello PJ my lovely friend!
Happiest to you too! I owe you many a fine email. Been so busy of late haven't had a sec to reply!
i wish I was as controlled and organized as you when it comes to my cosmetic purchases! You do so amazingly well with it! I need to take a tip from your spending habits!!!!!!!!!!
LOL you're a bit of a night owl my friend :) Dunno how you function come morning. I'm guilty of the same at times! Lately it's been so very cold that I don't mind heading into bed early and cuddling up!
Thanks for the comment!
Love you!

I do indeed know that tea is a big part of Asian culture and tradition. I enjoy Asian teas as I do British ones (not so much ones I find here in the US though! Our idea of tea is a box of lipton that sits on the shelf for 50 years!). I never meant to imply that tea was not Asian in origin at all. Not sure where I had mentioned where it was from or how it originated. I was however being stereotypical (on purpose) when it comes to tea. I think many people see tea as very British, finger out, sipping from a cuppa. I guess that was what my reference was to. I appreciate all cultures. I have a great love of Asian cultures, traditions, and people. Some of my bestest friends are of some asian descent (be in Japanese or otherwise) and I'd never intentionally go out of my way to be insulting to the Asian culture or any other culture. That's very not me at all in nature.
Sadly Americans are quite guilty of doing horrible things in Asian countries as well but we can't hold that against a general population of people living here in the US. What a government does doesn't always imply what the people living in a country will do. For instance I don't agree with or endorse our current war in the middle east. However, it is ongoing and it seems no matter how hard we as a general population try it doesn't stop :( Our government isn't exactly cream of the crop.
This is simply a blog about cosmetics and sometimes parts of my life. I'm not here to insult you, your culture, or anyone else for that matter. I am however a silly sort of person in nature that will make references like "I was British in another life" or "I have a teenager boy in my body" etc......That's very much apart of me and I believe anyone that personally knows me understands my dry sense of humor.
Again, I don't understand or see where I had mentioned that tea was born outside of Asia and in my humble opinion I just find it weird to think you might have thought I was implying otheriwse with my comment that I was "British in another life". I also happened to mention that my manners were very good and again used a reference to British about that. If anyone might be insulted it probably would be a Brit for me using so many stereotypes against their own culture with references of tea and good manners (I'm a big lover of the British so I'd never want to insult them either with my comments). And heck Americans might be more then insulted with my little comment about "making fun of Americans"...! Truly I'm harmless and I'm not here to insult any culture! Not my own, not yours, and not the Brits!
As I said I'm just a silly sort :) Never one for insulting anyone and I deeply apologize for any insult my comments have caused you because truly from the bottom of my heart I'm not one for going around insulting people. That's not me. That's just not me at all.
Dear Izzy,
I can't believe that above comment by 'Anonymous' on tea! I think whoever it was just mis-read your sentence and went off the deep end on a self-righteous rant. And you really shouldn't have to apologise for anything.
I've recently gotten hooked on Korean dramas myself too :-) Mostly romantic dramas, which the Japanese don't do much of anymore. But I can't watch the K-dramas non-stop as their incredible weepiness and melodramaa annoys me to no end sometimes! I've just finished watching the 3rd season of Boston Legal and that was the most excellent show that I've seen in awhile (aside from Battlestar Galactica of course!)
I'm also a terrible hoarder of magazines. I have almost every issue of Seventeen magazine from 1989 to about 1993 and several years' worth of Allure too. But I've had to throw out my Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Elle as I just had no space. *sob*
Like you, I'm also determined to use up more of my stash this year and restrain from falling for more limited edition stuff. By the way, I'm not optimistic that we'll get the P&J Disney collection in Singapore as we didn't get the same Xmas collection as P&J Japan did. So you may want to ask your friend in Japan if she can snag it for you intstead.
*BIG HUGS*
*Sigh* It seems I'm still having problems w/ blogger hence the taking down and reposted of the 'Thrrrob' post. I received your comment, luckily, and have e-mailed you and also answered under the comment section, just in case.
You're the only other person I know who likes rainy weather as well. I'm guessing you love wellies too!
Well, he HAS worked miracles before... Seriously though, Jesus refuses to help me unless I start believing in him. And I refuse to give him the satisfaction!
Thrrrob is all those things AND more (well, maybe not bright -much like the folks who created it). It kept wafting from the brush into my eyes and now they're all bloodshot and itchy. Still, if you use it as a shimmer powder (and mind your eyes)I think you'll quite like it.
Golly! This whole 'tea' thing is turning into a tempest in a tea-pot, so to speak. The Chinese definitely discovered tea and the British definitely murdered it (I mean, milk?!? sugar?!? sacrilege!!!) Let's just leave it at that. I'm sure no harm or offense was intended.
Not to fear, we Asians love you Musey! I refuse to let milk OR sugar stand in the way of our friendship!
Wait, let me get this straight: you 'have a teenager [sic] boy in (your) body'? ROTFLMAO! Better watch out, love; 15 will get you 20, LOL! Just kidding!
Hi Iris! *hugs*
I think maybe you're right as I definately was not commenting on the origins of Tea or where, how, and when the "drinking of tea" occurred :) Of course if she or he felt insulted I'm happy to say sorry for whatever way I offended but I'm still scratching my head to figure out just what it was I had said to insult!
Anyway!
:)
I love the romantic ones too! The cute and funny ones are definately a plus for me. I just don't like the terminal illness, oh my gosh someone dies dramas lol! Those are just too depressing. I haven't seen the Japanese do cute and funny in a while to be honest so that's why a majority of my tastes lay with Korean dramas. The Japanese are more intensely dramatic.
You know. I haven't seen Boston Legal a single time since it's airing? I keep telling myself to rent the DVD's and never got around to it but since you mentioned it I may just do that! It's been long and inbetween since I've been wow'ed by american drama (aside from battlestar too actually! I love sci/fi anything!). I do love Lost but I find it goes around in circles overmuch! I'm also a fan of a new series we have called Chuck! Have you seen it? Way cute romantic geeky action show! Very cool!
God I feel in great company now with my hoarding of magazines. I tend to do it alot with PC mags. Especially Computer Shopper for some reason. I have issues dated back to 1986! I do it with Vanity Fair as well! I dunno why. It's a crazy habit. I've been meaning to get into my closet and ditch some but it's so very difficult *blush*
I'm definately going to try harder with cosmetics. It's a bit insane to keep up sometimes! Plus I really need to use my stuff instead of hoarding it away!
Aw that's ok love. I thank you very much for trying for me! and I owe you some email replies about too! Would you like me to grab the collection for you too? Let me know! I'd be happy to include it with my stuff!
'ello Mandy!
Me too. All the freaking time!
got your email and emailed you back!
Wellies are hot biatch! ;)
I don't partake of the Jebus phenomenon myself! O:-) <---my Jebus smiley.
Hmm just a shimmer powder you say? Mmmm. That's rather crummy. Well maybe I'll like it as I do adore shimmer but I am disappointed it doesn't have a ton of pigment as I was hoping for a flush of color :(
Agreed :) No harm or offense at all! Bless be tea drinkers far and wide hehe ;) Be they Brits, Chinese, or lowly Americans like me ;) hehe!
and I love you back ;) each and everyone of you! Even you a great hater of Daniel Radcliff..I can push it all aside and love you still ;)
hehe!
LOL!!!!!! Lord! Hopefully not that many!!!!! And your sick twisted mind as gone and used "in" to suit your perverse nature ;)
Cheers to your wit and sarcasm! No one does it better. I can't even begin to compete!
You can still love British culture without having to put down American culture in the process. :( I was like that at one time, everything British was wonderful, everything American wasn't. Until I went to live in London for three months. I found that the "politeness" very often hid a strange form of passive-aggressiveness. I started to miss the directness of Americans. Your boyfriend, why does he "laugh" at us? Such a shame!
Hi Angela.
No one is putting down merican culture, Asian culture, or culture of any kind.
My BF's idea of laughing at Americans would be to say why is the World Series named as such since it's only American teams playing in it. That's not really that bad is it? And quite kinda true and funny ;) It holds nothing against America, Americans, or American Culture. He just loves to tease me!
I think life is too short not to laugh at myself, my culture, and everything about myself :) That's who I am as a person. Lord knows plenty of serious stuff is around that we can cry over!
I'm the first one to laugh at my height and roundness :) I'm also the first one to tell people how uneducated I sound due to my New York accent!
My life consists of laughing alot :) about everything. Be it American or otherwise!
That's just how I live my life.
I'm sorry you felt that I was putting down America. That's just not the case. I have a very dry, sarcastic sense of humor that not everyone gets!
As for Brits. I visit London quite often to visit friends and never met anyone I didn't love. Never found Brits to be passive aggressive sorts. Just genuinely well mannered folk that are quite lovely to American visitors! At least that's been my experience in all my trips to the UK!
Regards and apologies for taking my comments as being something they are not!
oh gosh, yes, sarcasm. I can't TELL you the amount of people I've offended over here because they've taken what I've said seriously! I think people see me as very direct over here as well, which also surprises me- must be a cultural thing. In England you do just say what you want, with plenty of eye contact, but over here people seem to be afraid to do that. Maybe it is just S. California. Anyway, I still often feel very foreign over here, but I really *do* try to fit in. I work with only British people which helps when I want to feel understood! Who woulda thunk two countries that (kind of) spoke the same language would have such trouble communicating! People are lovely and friendly over here, so I'm not really complaining! (I'm going to be on the hitlist with you and Mr Depp and the Dixie Chicks!!)
I'm not sure what accent they have in Nottingham, but I;m guessing it is quite northern (every planet has a north). I'm from the deep, dark south- Cornwall to be exact. (land of the cream teas, so you DEFINITELY get bonus points for that!!) Not sure if you ever went there, but you should! It's beautiful and celtic and I miss it dreadfully. I met my husband over there when he was in the US Navy (he was just getting out which is good, and that wouldn't be my cup of tea...) He is not the typical military type, which is good. Again, probably just offended 65% of your readers (!) but I mean that he is not all traditional and anal and -well- military. That didn't help did it! Ok, moving swiftly on...
Not long until Torchwood- yay!! I am SO excited. I do love DT though and wish he was in more stuff. My brother send me the DT doll and K9 for Christmas! Yay-hey! I have a great brother- heehee.
I haven't seen the Sarah Jane adventures- doesn't appeal to me much, but they do have it on Youtube, I'm pretty sure.
Jamie Oliver rocks- I agree! And he's hot in a weird kind of way. Ugly-chic ;) I want him to cook for me. He is rather fab as well- he is really working on reforming school dinners in England (I have 2 little boys, so stuff like that means a lot to me...they serve such s**t over here).
ok, next time I comment I promise I will mention makeup somewhere!
well, you'll probably hate my latest post then Angela. But then, it is what it is. I obviously don't hate America or I wouldn't have chosen to live here for the past eight years. And sorry you find us Brits so passive-aggressive- I'm surprised you got that impression. And I'm even surprised you found us polite! lol I think Americans are much more polite.
I agree it is good to laugh at yourself. I laugh at Americans and the English and myself and my friends...never serious, and actually, in my culture anyway, the more you laugh at someone, the more you like them.
Hey hey what a lovely post!
There is so much in there I don't know what to address!!!
But as to the above post, I would say that Brits (and myself being one) are prone to passive-aggressive behaviour but so often that is just to cover shyness. Brits just aren't very good at saying, look at me, I'm good at this and that, or at being very direct because we try to be modest. Nor would I say that Angela's experience in London is a very good example of Brits in general. I live in the North and sometimes London can feel like a different world to me - people are generally in a rush, and are more impatient (if that makes any sense!).
Emm what else? A lot of Brits take the mickey out of Americans. Sorry it's just a fact, but at the same time, I presume Americans poke fun at Brits too. The US does so many things that affects the rest of the world - plus Britan & the US go a long way back, and I think this unique relationship with its ups and downs.
And I just read the tea remark my anonomous. Yes, tea originates from China. So does football. Now which is a greater footballing nation, Britan, or China? Tea is VERY VERY British, I don't know many Brits who don't drink at least one cup a day. Also since my ethnic origin is Chinese, I know that with my family we tend to drink Jasmine, Oolong and leaf tea. However we drink milky tea, which we refer to as English Tea a few times a day too. Still, even if Tea did and does originate from China and India, there is no doubting that drinking MILKY Tea is a very British Pursuit. I don't understand what's that got to do with what Brits may have done in Asia. A lot of countries have hurt each other including certain Asian countries against other Asian countries.
I don't know what part of China you are from but I know a lot of Hong Kong Chinese are grateful for the way the British developed HK and were proud to have a British passport too. Not everyone - just a lot that I know.
That was a rant. I need a cup of tea now!
Row (won't let me log in Izzy, so I have to sign it here!)

Hi baby
I normally try to keep out of your comments on your blog as i know they are all very girl and such, anwayyyyy, id just like to tell anybody that doesnt really know you that you do not have a bad bone in your body, and would never go out of your way to upset or hurt anybody or any nation!! its just your dry (wonderful sense of humour) hell im not getting upset by being branded as passive agressive or any such things, thou i know you never branded anyone or anything, anyway hun you keep up the good work and enjoy!!
love you baby
xox
Angela: I agree with you; many Brits are often 'polite', but not necessarily 'nice'; from experience I've learned that this is true more of Londoners than those from other parts of the isle(not Cockneys though, they seem always to be friendly, IME). Still, I don't think we should generalize and assume everyone who's British is that way. I just think snobs are snobs wherever they are, be it London, New York (sorry Musey) or elsewhere.
I think you can feel affinity with the Brits without necessarily feeling that their culture is superior or that American culture is inferior. I'm American myself, but I feel that both nations seem to provide their fair share of comedic fodder, and I'm sure Musey feels the same way. We feel an affinity but not an inferiority (seriously, you should read my laundry list of complaints about the UK).
Hey, everyone go easy on The Muse! One of the nicest things about her blog is that she's honest and shares her sense of humor. I didn't see anything mean-spirited about her "laughing at Americans" joke. It was a joke and nothing else.
As for tea, yes, it originated in Asia, but British folks are known for their penchant for tea and scones. After all, they have their very own tea named after them - English Breakfast. More than one country can enjoy tea customs.
Please don't change your style, Muse. It's one of the reasons why your blog is the one I frequent most. Your personality is what makes it unique.
So much drama for a chill Thursday, y'all!
http://snltranscripts.jt.org/02/02amono.phtml
Don't take this lying down Musey! Challenge these fools to a dance off! A dance off, I say!
I just read your last post. Wait, you're a NATIVE New Yorker?!? With a native New York accent?!? Let me guess: Brooklynese? That's the accent I want; no one's going to mess with a 5'4" Asian girl if they think she's from Crooklyn! They're too scared I'll take the razorblades out of my hair and teach them a lesson! Bwahaha!
Hi Lucy!
LOL I get that all the time. I have a dry sense of humor sometimes and it isn't always gotten! Sad!
You come visit me here in New York and don't worry everyone says exactly what they mean lol! New Yarker's be aggressive hehe!
LOL I'm already on the hit list I fear. It's already turned into me hating Americans and possibly saying that the British discovered Tea (not sure where I said that but somehow it gotten taken as such lol)!
Hey at least Johnny Depp is cute so we can cuddle up tight while we are stoned to death ;)
WAHOO Bonus points for cream tea! I'm so in now ;)
I've never been to Cornwall no! It sounds gorgeous though!
Your husband sounds lovely :)
Have you guys considered moving back one day!?
Honey I have the K9 and DT figures gracing my very desk along with a few dalek and cybermen ;) I have a USB Tardis as well. I'm sad sad sad person lol!
Oh I have to head over the youtube as I'm a bit curious about it! Thanks ;)
Oh my god finally someone who agrees. Everyone calls me nuts for thinking Jamie is somewhat hot. Although as of late he's looking a bit chunky and rough. I'm used to his boyishly cute looks a la naked chef. He now looks a bit plump! Marriage life is good ;)
I seen school lunches on telly and I must admit he's doing an amazing job and some of those kids, after a fight, adapted to the menu! It was fascinating to watch! So strange how addicted kids are too absolute trash!
LOL it's fine! Cosmetic or otherwise is always welcome here ;)
I'm with you on laughing :) I'm all for laughing at myself ;) and others...not in a hurtful manner..just enjoying each other. Taking the piss out of each other etc...I think friends and family can do that without being hurt of offended :)
Cheers Lucy!
Thanks for your comments!
Hello Rooooooooooooow!
Everyone meet Row. 50% Chinese 50% British and about 500% Beautiful (inside and out)!
;-)
It's weird you say shy as I never really met a brit that was shy. I always find them jolly outspoken and funny as hell ;)
London is definately busy as is New York but I find people in London are much more friendly where as in New York you just get rude sorts!
I agree. I think it's a given that the British (and many countries) have a little go at Americans and vice versa.
I think mostly in regards to tea when I think of a cuppa England comes to mind. I think a majority of the world thinks the same. I've nothing against the origin of tea nor was I saying as such in my post but it seemed to have spiraled into a cultural clash about where tea was born! Mostly I just plopped the stereotype in about tea being very very English!
I agree. Sadly many countries including my own have fought over absolutely stupidity and killed, and hurt, etc...:(
LOL it matches your email my love! I need a cuppa tea :)
Thanks for your wise words and input Row!
You're gorgeous ;)
Hi Jonnnnnyyyy (been ages since I used a sing song voice to say it hasn't it?),
Thanks *blush* What better authority then you on my very person? ;)
Love ya back ;)
Hey Mandy!
Hell Cockney's are most definately awesome sorts ;) I haven't really experienced rudeness or over politeness in London. I've been many times and it's always felt quite like home to me. Maybe Londoners are so much like New Yorkers I'm missing the element of rude!
My god New Yorkers are not snobs we are just classless ;)
Lord yes I see the comedy in everything be it culture, country, or life ;)
Thanks for your input love!
Hi Taryn :)
Aw thanks for the backup :)
I know how well you get my weird sense of humor so it's nice to see you aren't offended ;)
Thanks very very much Taryn! I'm honored you visit me so often :) All your input here is appreciated and you're not only a reader here but a friend as well!
Many thanks!
Hey again Mandy!
LOL so much for a quite Thursday ;)
LOL love the SNL skit :)
LOL if I challenged anyone to a dance off I'd going from being ingenious to being foolish really fast!
LOL I'm not a from Brooklyn Lord no lol!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!! You're nuts you realize that right?
I agree with Row on the shy thing- I'm not exactly shy (though I used to be painfully so) but I am certainly not good at blowing my own trumpet. (well, actually, I am a pretty fantastic trumpet player so that isn't relaly true- lol). Anyway...I can see that that modesty could do someone's head in. I know it kind of annoys my friends over here, but it just isn't in my nature.
Muse, don't take any of this to heart. You know and I know and so do many people in these postings that this is all meant in jest. All the laughing at Americans stuff etc... it's never meant in a mean way. I think there is more hate towards the brits than anyone else on here actually! Anyway, moving on....so sweet your boyf came on here to defend your honour. What a good man!! Go, Jonny!!
Hi there I also love korean dramas and have watched sooo many...I also lean more towards the romantic comedies I just don't understand how both korean and japanese like to overproduce dramas with main characters whom have terminal illness and/or can't fall in love because of some villainous jealous side character.
I also totally second the 1st posters recommendation of Coffee Prince Kdrama. Now I also have to checkout soulmate for myself.
Others I would suggest are Full House, and My Girl(myfav) those two are in my top dramas. Other just enjoyable ones are delightful girl choon hyang, and Hello! Miss.
Theres one Jdrama I recommend which is Hana Yori Dango, thats the only one I've watched that I've loved. Somehow the japanese just don't really do too many good romantic comedies they have every kind of drama out there; family, medical, mystery, horror, school pretty much everything and korean dramas are predictably romantic.
Some sites to check out are
http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/
they have all the dramas out on torrent and fansubbed which I find more understandable than the ones released by asian companies. But for convenience sake buying on yesasia is good too. Its easier to watch it on a TV screen other than your computer screen unless you already know how to hook up the computer to your tv.
yup I love my dramas just wanna share the love
Hi Lucy!
Thanks for your comment!
Thanks sweetie! Absolutely not and I'm happy when others get my rather weird sense of humor *hug*
LOL he'll be loving that comment ;)
I couldn't agree more as I'm definately not mean in spirit. Don't have a cruel bone in my body! I love everyone and I'm greatly appreciative of both the English and Asian Cultures :) but not the American one (KIDDING!!!!!!!!)
Hello HT!
I love meeting my fellow kdrama addicts hehe :)
I've watched enough to rot my brain hehe! I also crush on the leads almost all the time!
I must say that K-Drama as well as J-Drama always have the weird tortured dramatic story lines of everyone always dying and being heartbroken however the cute ones make up for that ;)
I kinda like the jealous character as it really throws a little spice into the happily ever after :)
Coffee Prince sounds great and I'm eager to get my hands on a copy!
My Girl is a FAV of mine too!!!!!!!! I've never seen Full House though! GRRR you're not helping my resolution lol! Now I want to buy some Coffee Prince and Full House!
Is choon hyang delightful girl yet available on DVD??? I've wanted to see it for ages! The story plot reminds me of a the Korean film my little bride which I adored!
Japanese fail to do good soaps. I agree. I prefer Korean. I do love love love Japanese films though! Especially horror. They do a fab job of totally freaking me out :) and scarring the bloody hell out of me!
I rather love the predictably romances. I'm a romantic type of girl :)
Thanks so much for the site! I'll check it out!
Torrents are a plenty and many fansubs but I really find it a pain to wait for download times, have problems viewing possibly after it's complete, or sitting at my pc :P Plus if I'm lucky I can burn it but who wants to go through all the trouble? I find it's cheaper and easier to buy 'em!
I have a tv tuner built into my vid card but I just can't be arsed to bother with the download times ;)
So I can totally relate to a hate for sitting at the pc to watch :)
Thanks so much for your recommendations, the site info, and for your comment!
I love discussing K-Dramas with others that love 'em :)
Hugs!
Update: Coffee Prince looks utterly delightful! The story plot sounds so cute! I've preordered it from Yes Asia! So again thanks so much for the recommendation!
Although I hate you guys for making me break my resolution! hehe!
EEk
I was pretty ecstatic to see Gackt and Mana in there..xD
and kdramas...
It's awesome...cosmetics, LV, Gackt lover...all in one person. xD
Great minds think alike!
Hi Ruby!
I love them BOTH! AHHHH! *squeal* Total Schoolgirl, fangirl moment but I adore them! Especially Gackt! My god he's so HOT!
hehehe ;)
Visit me more often and we can see what other interests we share :)
LV, Cosmetics, and Gackt are all a girl's best friend ;)
*hugs*
