MAC Color Story: Sculpt and Shape

I'm positive all my MAC junkies already know but here's the newsflash anyway. MAC's newest color story, Sculpt and Shape, is available online and in stores this week.

I personally don't contour my face so this collection is somewhat useless to me sadly. I actually really should because my face is round and a little contouring and sculpting could make me appear a bit longer in face but ado I don't partake.

However, these new sculpting powders do intrigue me and the fact that Stila and a few other companies have released similar powders this year really has me wanting to possibly buy a compact.

I know I probably won't because the fact of the matter is I'm packing so much (primer, rice powder, foundation, concealer, whisper setting powder, my secret whitening agent that I'd have to kill you if I told you what it is! Etc...Etc...) rubbish on my face as is I really don't need sculpting powder added to that lot! It always fascinates me how much I end up with on my face in one sitting but thankfully it appears quite flawless and not caked on! Phew!

But that doesn't make me any less curious what I'd look like if I contoured my face a bit!

Anyway....

MAC's duos are pretty cheap so if you're wanting (or already do) contour your face you must be happy about this!

I know of at least one person that's excited to see these powders available and she's already purchased one already! Visit with Vanessa at Nessasary Makeup by clicking here to view her tutorial on sculpting and contouring! Vanessa is a big believer in contouring her face and she does a fab job of it! It's quite well done and may make you want to dive in and purchase some of these powders!

Do you contour your face?

Tell the Muse!

Secret whitening agent, eh? It's piss and ink, I just KNOW it, lol! No seriously, 'secret whitening agent' makes it sounds very Ian Fleming: double-O seven-shades-lighter! I demand to know the name of this agent! I bet it's something exotic like Nightingale Droppings or faerie-jizz! I must have some!

Actually, though I too am intrigued by contouring, it's really only good on film (photo, digital or even moving film), needs to be the right shade (a grey-brown sort of taupe) to mimic the effect of shadow, and is (ironically) pointless if you you have undefined cheekbones/a round face (so you're not wrong for eschewing it).

Contouring is a great tool for photo shoots, or events where few will really see you close-up (like runway shows). Too many round-faced folks try to give themselves Teutonic cheekbones and end up looking weird. Round, plump faces look much more youthful than others, why work against it? Also, too many people are guilty of contouring with plain-old reddish-brown bronzer (which is why I'm interested in this new line).

Contouring is great fun and looks great when done with the lightest touch. I love it to bits because I too have a round face. My fav is done with Emote MAC which I posted about.

I don't do contouring, because i think it's pretty pointless for day-to-day seeing as it's fairly obvious; however, it is useful for photos (imo of course).

so, here's my question, any way to find out what lipstick the model is wearing on the ad? I love it!!!!

thanks!

Hey Mandy ;)

JESUS SHHHHHHHHHH! Don't tell people my secrets! Now they'll all run out and use the secret piss and ink formula to whiten there faces! Damnit! I thought you were my friend! You've given away the secret formula!

It's my miracle elixir! It not only whitens my face but works great as a rust remover and general all purpose cleaner around the house. And I don't have to go very far to mix up a batch ;)

LOL! actually I'm a medium skin tone on my body or even a bit darker I guess but I use my secret formula of piss and ink to lighten the skin on my face and give it the "flawless" look.

It's not nightengale droppings but fairy jizz and unicorn hair (from the very top of OB's head) is involved in the mixing process! And latter strained out of course!

In all seriousness I cannot give away the secret of my flawless Victorian porcelain skin (there's a hint in there what it is)! If I told you I'd have to soon after kill you and I like you too much for that!

It's fab on film and models! I always associate contouring with both but I'm not sure it would be right for me personally.

I must say I've seen many a victim fall prey to the bronzer contouring look and they just end up looking orange around the face and whitish on the inner face. which just equals, for me, scariness!

Thanks for the comment ;) They brighten this place up and make it fun!

hello sealed!

I say that's true. If you're not on camera or modeling it's kinda pointless although it does somewhat intrigue me! Especially after seeing Vanessa's video as her face comes out flawless when she's done!

I looked on the site actually under the face chart session and didn't see anything. I honestly don't think she's wearing a lipstick. It appears nude?! You can always do a live chat with an MA and see what they say they might just know ;)

If I find out I'll post it here!

happy New Year!

Actually, the Romans used urine to whiten their clothes and their teeth. Unlike Pirelli, they weren’t smart enough to use ink; if they had, they'd probably still be around.

Nightingale Droppings seemed like a good guess at the time; you seem like a big fan of Japanese beauty products. I’ve been mulling over buying it, but I don’t think I can stomach it; not the use of bird droppings, mind you, just the thought that it involves animal cruelty. Not too concerned about faerie-cruelty, though. Skinny winged #@&%$s!

A hint in there, eh? Wait… *Gasps* IT'S PEOPLE! The Muse's secret whitening ingredient is made of ground-up (Victorian) people! And, possibly porcelain. IDK, it’s like something out a Patrick Suskind novel.

Please just tell us, already! Your loyal readership is dying to know: what is this miracle skin whitening agent?!? Do a post on it, pleeeaaase!

I’m of a mind with you and Sealed about contouring; better in theory than practice (at least for everyday use). Contouring has to be the worst catch-22 ever; you need to have a certain amount of bone definition just to pull it off and far too many people abuse the technique and don’t respect their natural face-shape *coughcough* JLo, MariahCarey *coughcough*.

Sealed: OMG that has to be the cutest profile-icon ever! Is that your hamster/gerbil?

Good luck finding out about that lipstick (it looks like there are at least three different shades /products involved); the folks at MAC customer service are notoriously unhelpful. It's been 3 months and I'm still waiting for them to e-mail a list of ingredients for a blush. Sigh.

And we use it for the sting of jellyfish :) How very primitive! LOL!

I admit I gargle with piss and ink in the AM so it'll add 5-6 years onto my life.

I jest, I jest!

I've read they have a moisturizer with whale sperm now so really nothing surprises me at this point!

LOL those poor poor fey!

My GOD I'm much clever than Patrick Suskind and mind you my nose is quite a bit better than any character he's written ;)

I'll consider..I'll consider...maybe I'll tell you...if you beg....plead...etc....humble servant of mine ;)

I never really noticed JLO boarding the Sculpting Train! I have to look more close hmm! you are the expert on celebs my dear ;)

Have you tried calling the head offices in New York for MAC? they may be of some help! I have a # if you need it ;)

But... but, I AM your humble servant! And occasional enforcer. I'm like Bellatrix to your Lord Voldemort (but without the obvious sexual attraction); like Daniel Radcliffe to your Gary Oldman (again, without the obvious sexual element). Don't abandon me now!

Oh sweetie, J. Lo boarded the sculpting train a long time ago, right about the same time she hopped aboard the crazy train. And that train done already left the station! Choo-choo!

enforcer you say? ok since you're sometimes but not always my humble servant! LOL there isn't any sexual attraction between Bella and He shall not be named! You're making that up! LOL!

LOL!!!!!!!!!! indeed I did catch some sexual attraction in the relationship between Daniel and Gary!

LOL I must admit that J-LO has gone downhill as of late. Believe it was when she first started wearing curtains circa 1967 a la Rosemary's Baby pinafore type!

horror!

Wah?!? What do you mean, 'sometimes '?!? I am Lord Mus-e-mort's most loyal servant! Look for a post on HBC in the near future, btw.

Yeah, seriously. You know how interviewers always ask him if he has a girlfriend, and he always say 'No'. He's not being coy; he really DOESN'T have a girlfriend. Gary wouldn't like it...
