Musings of the Day: Hold Me I'm Scared!

We haven't mused together in such a long time. Wanna give it a go?

This is an interesting one I know, but what sorts of things simply scare the heck out you beauty wise?

Are you terrified of poking an eye out with your liquid liner? Scared you'll over pluck your brows? Shivering in fear that your eye lash curler will give you that extra hard pinch when you capture lid skin instead of lashes with it?

Share what scares you about beauty and jump ahead for what I'm frightened of!

Mine is really simple and in my mind the most terrifying thing ever about beauty.

Oil cleansers.

I remove much of my makeup with an oil cleanser be it from Shu, Biore, or other Asian brands. I normally take to using Philosophy Purity for makeup remover but for the most part I'm an oil user as it gets my face perfectly clean.

The problem?

Fuzzy, cloudy vision.

Oh god it scares me so badly. Isn't it the worst that your eyes are so cloudy for a few minutes after using oil cleanser?

Ugh. Worst feeling evers.

Aside from that not much else scares me beauty wise and I can't possibly think of anything worst than walking around with fuzzy vision.

Eeep!

Share your beauty horror stories!

Wow, I've never had that happen, and I use oil cleansers! Maybe it's because of the same reason my husband gets shampoo in his eyes, and I never do (magic stuff-in-eye repellent!). Well, except for little flying insects... those want to live in my eyes...

I was curling my lashes and putting on my shoes at the same time and then suddenly I tripped. Went to school with an bald eye. Scary. Never again will I do such a foolish thing.

P.S. - Thank god all my lashes grew back. An Asian without eyelashes is like a cat without fur. LAMO. :-D

I actually hate it after I use a Biore face wipe and my eyes sting a bit if I get it on my lower water line.

Ah, my fear isn't so much as a consumer, it's as a makeup artist. I absolutely hate using lash curlers on clients! I'm terrified that my nightmare will come true and she will sneeze and I will be standing there with a clamped curler and all of her lashes, while she sits across from me, lash-bald. *shudder*

Have always plucked my own eyebrows but it's not until later, when seeing the results in old pictures, that I've truly understood what terrifying results I did create. I still pluck my own eyebrows and truly I bear in mind the "horror brows", but then I figure - can it really be any worse than it once was. I guess I gotta take pictures and look at them again within these years to come...or go to a professional.

Also - eyeshadow in my eyes - that's a HATE!

yea, i hate getting anything in my eyes. i tend to get shadow in my eyes a lot (from using loose pigments or putting shadow on my waterline).

what i really hate is finding a short, stubby lash that stubbornly points in its own direction and grazes my eye- i get these on the inside of my top lashline A LOT. it takes me forever to figure out how to pluck it or remove it without ruining my other (innocent) lashes.

or that feeling when a hair or a wisp or a bit of dust gets in your eye and you can feel it but not see it. *shudder* then you spend all day rubbing your eyes, and checking them, and you end up with red, sore, unpretty eyes!

I to get the “fuzzy, cloudy vision” lol such a cute way to describe it. I use to have fears of the cloudy vision, thinking it will cause some eye infection. However no eye infections yet! My new fear is under eye concealing.

Under eye makeup scares me, with all the blending involved. Even with my most gentle application, I think I’m going to give myself wrinkles :(

oh one of my worst beauty fears is that my eyeliner and mascara will turn on me and just smudge all over my eyes. i was at my dentist's laying in the chair and i looked in the mirror after and somehow i had a thick line of eyeliner like half an inch under each eye! i wasn't even wearing eyeliner on the bottom!! so embarrassing..how does that even happen?! lol

laura I know the feeling well. pigment, shadow, liner etc...my eyes are a magnet for gook LOL!

and yes totally hate the feeling of having anything in my eye so I'm sitting checking it ever two seconds and rubbing at it etc...great way to make myself sick with germs and the likes :P

Well! I was on Accutane a few years back when I was too young and stupid to realize how bad it is for you... anyway...

My dermatologist neglected to warn me against waxing. I ended up getting these horrible pink, shiny patches under my eyebrows. They looked like burns! I was in so much pain and dreading going to school the next Monday! I can wax just fine now but unfortunately I'm too scared to do anything big, like a bikini wax or what not. It's not even the pain; it was the traumatizing loss of like three layers of skin. Luckily I have no scars though.

I use Clinique's All About Eyes every night and morning. I'm terrified of getting some of it into my eyes (ecspecially the corner of my eye by my nose) it stings sooo bad and won't stop for 5 minutes!

hi muyya

LOL I'm glad I'm not alone. Totally understand your worries about concealer. I tend to tug when I blend no matter how careful I am :(
