Beauty NIGHTMARES!

Poked yourself in the eye with your eyeliner? Squeezed your lash curler a little too hard and caught part of your lid while doing so (Ouch!)? Got shampoo in your eye? We all have them. Those little beauty nightmares that either make us laugh out loud at what a klutz we are or scare us silly!

Jump ahead to hear one of my beauty nightmares and feel free to share your own!

Believe me I'm entirely too lethal when it comes to cosmetics. Poke myself in the eye? Check! Caught my lid with my lash curler? Double check! Got shampoo in my eye? Oh yes, Check! I can name any number of ways my life has been threatened by everyday cosmetics, skin care, and hair care!

One of my most recent nightmares comes to mind for this post, read ahead.

It started like any other night......I had gotten home and was in the process of my makeup removal regime. I began by removing my eye makeup and following up with my normal cleanser. Afterward I proceeded to mist with my favorite toner. Normally I'd wait until my face was dry and follow up with night cream and eye cream however something weird happened!

I couldn't tell you what it was but something upset my vision terribly. I know it wasn't my cleanser as I hadn't used an oil to remove my makeup and I don't think it was my eye makeup remover either which only left my toner. After misting I noticed that I had a case of scary foggy/cloudy eye vision. I swear I totally freak after using an oil to remove my makeup when this happens but luckily it goes away quickly. This time around it was sticking around and seemed to be getting worst ever second! Can you say freak out?

I got so scared I called up the company that made the toner and got v-mail! Great! I proceeded to google, half blinded, about the results of the product (this had NEVER happened in all my time using it) and got nothing back. I dunno if I didn't get results because I was temporarily blinded or because my keyword skillz weren't up to par with my vision gone wonky.

Obviously the best thing to do is rinse with cool water but hells that didn't work. So I jump in a cold shower for 15 minutes splashing all kinds of frigid water on my face. Aside from developing a bad case of frost bite the cloudy vision was still there.

At this point I dunno if my imagination was running around buck wild or my vision truly was becoming worst. I'm serious this was a total freak out moment for me.

I decided my best course of action was to remain calm even though I was this close to just driving to the emergency room. After about two hours of flushing with cool water and laying in bed calmly aka freaking out my vision started returning to normal.

Phew.

As funny as it sounds now I was totally scared for a sec there. Needless to say the toner was emptied down the drain and never purchased again.

How about you?

Any awesome beauty nightmares?

Minor ones?

Major ones?

i was exfoliating my face with an acne scrub one night and got one of those darn little beads in my eye. i couldn't get it out so i had to stand there for at least 15 minutes trying to fish it out, which was excruciatingly painful.

Mine's not particularly painful. Once, when I was inexperienced with eyelash curlers, I accidentally cut off all of my eyelashes on one eye, and then I purposefully chopped off the rest so it would match.

oh i know how you feel. problems with the eyes are so scary!! this isn't exactly a beauty problem, but one night i took my contact lenses off as usual and put them in the little case. the next morning i decided to open a new pair of contacts and not use the old ones. so i put the right one in my eye, but when i get to the left one i put it in, but i still see blurry..so i'm blinking like crazy and poking around my eye! haha i'm freaking out at this point thinking either the contact lens went in the back of my eye or my vision severely worsened overnight. so i get the lens out and i poke around some more...and it turns out i still had the lens from the night before in my eye! lol. yep i wore 2 contact lenses at once. but i honestly thought something happened to my eyeball! my eye was so red from me abusing it :X

When's the last time you got your eyes checked? You might have what's called "floaters."

Holy cow that is SCARY! I would have freaked out and make someone take me to the emergency room! Thank goodness your eyes are back to normal! =D
That happened to me once as a kid, I swam in a pool for an hour or so & the chlorine effed up my eyes for the whole afternoon, I could hardly see. To this day I will spend no more than 30 minutes in a pool.
About once a month I end up poking myself in the eye with something beauty related. 2 days ago I got my eye cream in my eye and it hurt more than any mascara wand poke!

Ouuuch!

I don't know if this is a beauty nightmare but it sure is a nightmare; sometimes when I've gotten a new tattoo and the scabs are still there (plus it hurts and burns like hell) (and when it's CRUCIAL that you don't scratch off the scabs or the ink can get lost with the skin you pull off, resulting in a blotchy tattoo... biggest no-no there is!), I have had it happen that I wake up in the middle of the night because of itching and my scratching the skin.

It feels like I've had a bucket of ice cold water thrown over me so I get instantly awake, then I jump out of bed and rush to the mirror in the bathroom to see exactly how much damage I've caused to my new little baby. Luckily, always none. I think I should be sleeping in handcuffs next time. (Next time which actually is in less than a month - I'm getting my chest tattooed!)

Btw, did you see my comments on 250 Things and Thief? And have I told you lately that I love you Musey... ;) No but I love to come in here, seeing your pretty face and reading your witty texts! There is no one like the Muse! And no one who truly understands geekiness like you do. Makes me feel at home! LOL!

oh.. I have similar experience but worse I must say.

I was about to remove my eye make up that night after I've taken out my contact lens. After just 1 wipe of the cotton with eye remover then I feel a burning sensation to my eye. Later that I know I accidently put my polish remover beside my remover that very morning after using it and I was too dumb to even notice the strong smell(or maybe I was just too tired and wanted to go on bed as fast as I can). Needless to say, I was freaked out by the idea of polish remover in my eye. I cried for helps from my bf and he ask me to flush it with water. Then we drive to clinic. This had taught me to not have any of this kinda things near ur skin care products. No no no!

At ten years of age I decided it was time for me to learn how to style my hair. I hit the wax container. I ended upp falling asleep with wax chunks in my hair. No worries.

Untill next day at school. The chunks had melted and migrated - onto my face and in my eyes! In class my vision was suddenly blurred. Lights were hurting my eyes and tears ran like rivers down my chubby cheeks. I freaked and ran out to wash my eyes - with the teacher speeding behind me.

My teacher, first wanting to give me a good lecture 'bout the importance of school, when she suddenly understood what was going on. Well meaning but certainly not calming she shouted "Don't rub your eyes, u'll damage and cause detachment the of the retina!".

I packed my lill' blue backpack and wandered home crying and thinking I'd go blind.

Eyes are fine but I haven't hit the wax jar since that incident 12 years ago.

I too accidentally cut off my eyelashes with a cheapola lash curler. Now I spend money on the Shu version and replace it like they say to do.

Oh, no -- that's scary! I hope you and your eyes feel better, Muse!

I got a minor chemical burn from a hair remover once. I have my tried-and-true brand (Sally Hansen), but the store was out of it that day and I had to buy a different one (Nair). Holy crap, the stuff started burning like a #^&*^%$#!!! after only a minute! I immediately washed it off, but the damage had been done.

Here I was, thinking "Hurray! No face hair for a few weeks," when instead, I ended up with a pinkish-red upper lip, plus some bleeding. Thank goodness it didn't scar.

The real kick in the teeth was that I had a date the next evening. Yeaaaah . . . that was fuuuuuun.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that happened to you dear! What toner was it?

I've poked myself with my mascara once and that really hurt. It never happened to me before. I think it was the mascara I was using. I cried a bit and my eyes were bloodshot for a good 5 mins, lol.

Ok, to me this is beauty related, because part of the reason I wear contacts is wanting to look pretty.
I wear contacts. I use Clear Care Contact Solution (which contains an ACID and hydrogen peroxide) to clean my contacts every night and Aquify saline solution as drops or to put my contacts in.
One morning, not too long after I moved to Florida, after a LATE night out clubbing when I had to get up to go to work, I grabbed the white bottle of Clear Care with the glaring red top, instead of the blue Aquify bottle, and put the contact in my eyes with the BURNING Clear Care. Luckily I had the shower on and running because I SCREAMED as the liquid was burning at my eye. I have NO idea how I managed to pry that contact out, but I immediately started flushing my eye with the water. I was lucky to have not damaged my eye at all, but it was horribly red and sore for a few days.

All in the name of beauty...
