Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen Versus Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant

You know how I'm always bitching about my eyes lately?

Well I have the solution right here, just for you! If you're a bit of a frugal person you may not want to continue reading however if you want the best of the best this may be the solution you seek to fixing your eye area up and making yourself look fresh, awake, younger, and beautiful!

This year I turned 30 and with that came a slew of problems that presented themselves to my under eye area. I've tried just about everything as you may know from my previous post on eye creams.

One of my main solutions for looking fresh and awake while concealing my under eye woes are one of two fantastic concealers!

Yves Saint Laurent Radiant Touch and Dior Radiance Booster Pen.

That's it.

That's my solution for fresher, beautiful eyes.

I've been using Dior's Radiance Booster Pen for close to a year now and it's slowing replacing my YSL Radiant Touch Pen.

Both pens are brilliant, wonderful pieces of cosmetic that, no matter your age, you should have in your beauty arsenal.

I highly recommend going out and purchasing one of each as they come with my highest rating of approval.

First of all I probably shouldn't call these concealers because technically that isn't what they are however I feel like they are pigmented enough to do a very good job of concealing tired eyes, medium dark circles, and fine lines. The general idea is to not conceal but to illuminate and highlight your skin and subdue any dullness.

You can use these all over your face not just under your eye. I normally use them under my eyes and throughout the day, as a touch up, I dab some on the corners of my nose and blend outwards for a fresh look.

Both pens are truly brilliant at making my eyes look 100% better!

What's the difference anyway?

Well.

I feel like the Dior version is a bit more moisturizing and offers a bit more coverage. It's very thick and it feels like cool lotion when you apply. Coverage is very, very good and the it lasts much longer than the YSL Radiant Touch Pen!

This is a bit of a Dior Radiance Booster Pen versus YSL Radiant Touch Pen post and the winner is.....

Dior's Radiance Booster Pen in Candle Light 02

Dior Radiance Booster Pen knocks YSL out of the water. Shocked? It's true the Dior wins hands down!

  • Conceals way better than the YSL Touch Eclat Radiant.
  • Blends much easier as the formula is highly moisturizing.
  • Excellent packaging and presentation (comes in a gorgeous blue velvet pouch, pretty silver tube, etc...)
  • Does not crease, fade, or settle into fine lines.
  • Lasts for hours longer than YSL's version.
  • Cheaper at $31 USD compared to YSL's $40 USD price tag!
  • Larger size for the price!
  • Lasts for ages and ages as a little goes a long way!

YSL does a mighty good job with it's Touche Eclat Radiant and I've always been a very, very big fan but the Dior pen does a much better job!

YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Pen in Luminous Ivory 02

Touche Eclat isn't nearly as moisturizing and you have to do a bit of smoothing around to blend it in correctly. It comes in a larger variety of colors than Dior's version but I actually felt like Dior's limited colors suited my skin tone much better than the YSL colors.

The price tag is $40 USD and it's considerably smaller for the cost compared the Dior at $31 USD. I've always found the gold casing slightly gaudy where as the Dior's slick silver case is quite elegant!

Sadly, Touch Eclat Radiant has a tendency to settle into my fine lines and it does fade very quickly so I am touching up through out the day where as that doesn't happen with the Dior Radiance Booster Pen as it lasts quite a good deal longer without creasing or fading!

All in all I think I've found a replacement for Yves Saint Laurent's Touch Eclat Radiant and that would definately be the Dior SkinFlash Radiance Booster Pen!

Both pens are well worth getting your hands on as they create the illusion of beautiful, flawless skin however the Dior version does a much better job of it and with a nicer price tag!

Toss your Yves Saint Laurent Touch Eclalt Radiant pens like I did and go and grab yourself a few Dior SkinFlash Radiance Booster Pens! You won't be sorry! I sincerely have at least two on hand at all times!

Needless to say I do occasionally reach back into the bin and snatch up my YSL which means both the Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen and Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant are Muse Approved for purchase!

Tried both?

Which do you like more?

Refuse to try the Dior version because you're so attached to your YSL pen?

How about their Estee Lauder counterpart? I've not tried YSL or Dior yet, but was happy with the price and the results, so I ordered one from Nordstrom. Am using it on my face for the first time this morning and am quite happy with the results. :)

Thanks for the comparison! I've had Dior a few years ago but I didn't think it performed the miracles I expected. But I might have to try it again now when my makeup skills has improved and I know what I can expect from it.

the timing for this post is PERFECT muse. Thank you so much! I've got Terrible Eye circles and have been using Bobbi Brown's concealer. Looking to get a highlight pen to increase the coverage. thought of getting YSL but heard of complaints where it turned smelly! Dior will be the way to go!

This was such a helpful post! I love YSL but I agreed with all the negatives that you said. Dior seems to have exactly what I've been looking for. I'm going to give it a try.

Aw.. I wish I read your post first before going out to get my very first Radiant Touch. So far I have used mine thrice, I do love the luminating effect. I will definitely try the Skinflash when I finish this one.

Love all your posts and have a good trip!

Radiant Touch Pen is very light so it won't hide the dark circle
It's very good if you don't have a dark circle however a lot of professionals use it as a highlighter above the concealers
U have a very good blog and I though I was a beauty addict lol
Keep up the good work

i tried both...but much preferred dior skinflash. didn't quite like the consistency of touche eclat. skinflash has been working fine...i have gone through 3 in a year until i started using armani's. i use candle light as well, it brightens up my really tired eyes. i will go back to it soon aft i finish my armani's...just hope the price would not be so high, £22! it doesn't even last a long while.

hiya liz marie :)

wahoo! I'm actually happy to see how many people are loving the Dior Pen!

I agree! YSL has a huge market/cult following. Don't get me wrong it's a solid product and the only of it's kind for a while but the market has slowly evovled and brands are introducing these click style pens alot lately and Dior happened to release a superior version for sure!

Thanks :) My trip was aces ;)

Hi! Love your blog! Asked for opinion about the Stila cherry crush before and bought it, absolutely love it now!

I'm wondering which shade would this Dior skinflash suit asian skin best? Especially those with yellow undertones and dark circles that are purplish/dark blue due to lack of blood circulation and sleep! Would shade 2 candle light do, or will shade 3 sunbeam be better?

I'm currently using bobbi brown creamy concealor kit in warm natural.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Hope I can catch the sephora Family and friends promo in time! =D

hi shan!

Thanks!!!!!!!!

I'm so happy you love cherry crush..it's great isn't it :)

Hmmm good question..this is a little tricky...I use candlelight 02 b/c sun beam is very beige however beige is good for yellow tones but I still think that the beige might be too much..I'd go with 02 as it does have a nice light base which should do well by your dark circles.

But I do worry it might be too light since you are using warm neutral in the BB palette.

It's a tough call but I think you should try 02 and I HOPE you're in the US because if it fails to work you can easily return it for a full refund without having to pay shipping back and it's fine if it's slightly used as Sephora is great about returns!

I do know that the dior counter ma's always suggest 02 for light to medium complexions

hope this helps!

I've got olive skin tone and have always had serious panda eyes since I was a kid - it runs in the family.

I've been using Dior Skin Flash for a number of years and it is absolutely amazing - I cannot believe what a difference it makes to the overall look of the face! Brightening and covering up the dark circles seriously gives the face an immediate youthful look. As far as I'm concerned there is no other product on the market that even comes close. I use No. 01 as it is the fairest and covers up beautifully - it lasts all day long!

I've only ever used the YSL Touche Eclat product once when I couldn't find a Dior store. Although the YSL product was slightly cheaper - there was no comparison. The dark circles were nowhere near as concealed - I definitely will not be swapping my Dior product for YSL again.

I too was shocked that Dior would be the better of the two products as the YSL product is iconic and everyone knows it - but honestly - the DIOR product is by far superior.

hi jo!

Sorry for the delayed reply :)

My sis is olive skin and she has same prob!

Isn't it fantastic?! I always love reading comments where readers are loving it as it's my HG!

I have both the Dior and YSL and I always reach for the Dior over the YSL!

I'm always always shocked that people prefer the YSL and consider it YSL....I just think Dior makes the superior product in this case. YSL is awesome but really the booster pen is where it's at!

amen :) preach it!

hehe!

thanks for the super comment!
Hope we talk again soon!

Hey Muse, have you tried the Eyeko Cream as a highlighter? I have it and absolutely love it. It's £5.00 which translates to about 8 USD on the site eyeko.com with free shipping! Oh and enter this code E122 for a free gift.

It's a super light pale pink cream that smells a little like marshmallows.. the shimmer is enough to brighten my skin yet not look like a disco ball. It does moisturise as it promises too! It's my HG product!

Sorry if this is off topic.. Just wanted to share =P
