Fake Jill Stuart Palettes

Unbelievable. I just read about this on Risser's blog and I was absolutely gobsmacked. It appears that a few fake Jill Stuart Palettes have popped up on a yahoo auction. The seller appears to be in Hong Kong.

One of my original Jill Stuart Palettes:

Amazing how alike these look right? Even down to the plastic cover sheet! Wow. Just wow. It was pointed out that the only thing missing from the fakes is the Jill Stuart logo on the bottom right hand corner of the open palette! If you see my photo and compare it to the fakes you'll notice the logo is missing! Interesting.

I'm absolutely astounded.

Can you believe this?

I can't help but look at the palettes and think how great the color combos are though hehe! I'm awful aren't I?

Honestly, the boxes and compact looks freaking awesome for a fake don't they!?

You can read some rants about this seller by clicking here.

But seriously this is just fascinating. The things people do!

So beware kiddies when bidding on auctions from another country! I bid on abroad auctions all the time so this might be an eye opener for me!

Thanks to Risser for keeping us in the know! Risser explains in her post that it's common for MAC and Bobbi Brown to pop up with counterfeit items but it's not everyday you see Jill Stuart being duped like this!

This is rather sad for people who are new to the brand, not knowing the color selection and buying these blindfolded and being screwed over! Very sad!

Oh my gosh, we are so warped. The first thing I thought of too was "what great color combos!". And something is off with the indentation of the shadows. It doesn't look right to me.

The lengths people will go to...

this is scary!! i wonder how the quality of the shadows turns out. although a seasoned jill stuart collector would be familiar with the colour stories and should notice the odd pigments!

i have seen a seller on ebay that does some funky givenchy prismissime fakes, and they sell for only $30. there were a lot of discrepancies in the colour series names which added to their dubious authenticity. when i asked them what collection the colours were from, they never replied - which is probably the last and most obvious sign that they are selling fake goods.

it also surprises me how people will go to extreme lengths to make fakes but never make identical fakes for colour cosmetics, always some funky version. if they really wanted to con people, they should aim for perfection.

oh wow..i am surprised! I would think in HK, they wouldn't produce fakes, I do know they produce fakes in China, but wouldnt' think it would be from HK. Thanks for this post MUSEY...I'm always ordering online and I always feel secure when the seller is from HK, guess I'm wrong :) Thanks muse! *hugs*

Being a fan of JS, I say shame on them who made these almost exact replicas of JS!

thats gayyyyyyy
why would you do fake makeup -____-, esp on a line such as jill stuart where there AREN'T that many palettes. aren't the colours a dead giveaway, rofl??? and the jill stuart logo is missing in the lil applicator thing too, probably too much cost to injection mould or what ever is that they do lol.

but even though i'm your biggest fan muse (lalalla i truly am!), i have to disagree on this one, i think the colours look so play dough and fakeish lol. is that possible? :(

I really like JS002.......

*slaps myself*

the dupe is INCREDIBLE. just WOW! They must know JS palettes sell for quite a lot of money so is therefore worth duping. But duh, at least make colour combos that EXIST!

It seems to me like its pretty unsafe to buy make up online unless its from a reputable seller or shop.

I always check the colour scheme online to make sure it exisits or HAS exisited. Theres always a trace of it on say, Make Up Alley.

I doubted myself with a Chanel Quad once, even tho I could find no pic, no trace of this so called 'limited' quad - when it arrived it was obviously fake fake fake so back it went.

Woah, they look really similar!
I've stopped buying from auction sites now - since I found out just how much fake MAC there is on Ebay!
BTW - i read your reply to my comment on silver powder a couple of weeks back - after I ordered it myself. Thanks so so much for the offer, that was unbelievably kind :)
I'm really liking it- my blackheads have disappeared!

Taryn LOL! Great minds think alike :)

It's pretty funky the way they did these. If you never seen the palette in person or owned one this would really confused a person ;)

But you're right small differences alert to the fact it's a faker.

hiya yin!

Yes very :( I'm curious about this myself. I'd be very familiar with the palettes too. I own many of them and would notice if something new popped out although if someone is new to the line it's easy to be confused if they are true or fake.

I think I've seen the same seller. They look amazing and they are dirt cheap!

I, too, have emailed her asking her about them.

And she never replied. I'm curious if it's the same person. I've also seen one that sells shadow palettes from Givenchy in unusual color combos that I know have never been released as I own a majority of the shadows releases le and otherwise, abroad and stateside. Interesting what you can find on auction!

I concur. The palettes are pretty damn good in comparison even down to the boxes but than they come up with strange, bizarre color combos that obviously appear fake. It's an utter contradiction to the perfection of the "fake" compact.

Strange!

Thanks for your informative post and thoughts yin!

hey askmewhats!

How are you darlin'?

It's an interesting development isn't it?

I, too, would expect fakes from other places including Thailand and such but I'm very intrigued it originates from HK.

I order online too. I don't think it should put off from online ordering from HK but maybe just cautious in our next purchases!

Hugs!

hey serene.

They look amazing in my humble opinion, down to the box art. Aside from what is within the are near perfect. It appears people did indeed buy some which was quite stupid as obviously these color combos have never been released (and probably never will be).

Shame on them is true! Very sad :(

Agreed. I'm surprized people aren't educated and logical enough to head to the webpage and see what colors are available and what has been by doing a bit of googling.

I hadnt noticed the applicator. Good call helly!

awww *hugs* Thanks :) You are indeed!

Mmmm yes they do look off but I was memorized by the greens and aquas hehe!

Hi Muse!
I am totally shocked too! How is that possible!
I bought my square JS palette with brush from Japan, they better be authentic!
But the fake palettes has weird shades don't you think?
They look cheap and odd!
Oh well... not that I'd buy this palette... I mean since I collect that many Dior palettes and such I have to make decisions whether to buy other palettes or not. I only buy the cutest ones! Now the MAC Dress Camp palette is on my wishlist hehe... I saw 2 other Dior palettes today as well at the airport, uh oh! I am going to be sooo broke! It's not even funny :P Anyway take care girl!

hey rows!

LOL!

It looks fantastic to me. It's always strange that the prefect everything but the colors. Maybe they feel it'll be more appealing to the buyer if they see a palette with colors that the buyer may have never been privy to before. Makes it more tempting ya know?

I purchase alot of cosmetics online but I do practice caution especially with pigments as many a dupe are on ebay :(

It's a good practice. I do the same. Always check up or ask on forums and such!

Thanks for the comment Rows ;)

I worry myself when purchasing mac on auctions. Too much blackmarket rotating on ebay!

You're most welcome, my pleasure :) I'm so glad to hear that it's working for you! It's doing a fab job with my nose! Love it ;)

hi wendy!

Oh I'm sure if it was direct from a counter it is real! The fake palettes do indeed sport some strange colors!

I was slightly chuffed about the colors lol! Wouldn't it be nice to see some bolder colors from JS?

LOL! Do share about the Dior palettes :) which were they? Dresscamp is awesome!

LOL We can always live off makeup right? ;)

Take care darlin'!

Hi Muse :)
Wow I haven't checked your blog for a few hours and you updated it with so many entries already! :D
Well I checked my JS palette and it has the name inside of the palette,
and the colors match... so I assume i have an authentic palette!
Heck i'd be so mad if I was ripped off! $#^% haha!
The palette I have does have some bright colors though!
I have the square palette #2 rose bloom... Bright pink and orange/beige colors!
I saw 2 Dior palettes today, one I have seen one ebay before.
It's the Gaucho palette, it came in 3 colors I think...
Dior Gaucho palette => http://i13.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/e6/1e/a3f9_1.JPG
If i'm going to get one, i might go for the cream colored one.
I think the 2 other colors were pinkish and silver.
But i was like less than 5 min in the store, so I checked it very quickly ;)
The other palette i have never seen before!
You know the pink D'Trick palette? => http://i1.yesstyle.com/assets/50/902/l_p1004590250.jpg
Well its the size of the D'Trick palette, a big sort of make up case.
This one is in a pink color as well but it is in a Diorissime palette sort of style
The Diorissime palette => http://www.fashionandbeauty.ro/pictures/article_6533.jpg
But this palette is bigger than the Diorissime, it's as big as the D'Trick!
I like the Diorissime palette very much, so it'll be likely I will get this palette too.
But it is mad expensive! In EUROS 75!!! But yeah its a much bigger palette/case,
so I understand why... but still... not fair! Oh I forgot the name too of this palette.
But I will check it next time when I am in that store again...
Dress Camp is indeed awesome, but expensive as well!
Oh btw you bought a lot of MAC lipglosses :D wow ur really gonna get them all?!!
Haha indeed we can always live off make up... but then there's a lot of other things which i like (to buy)!
Right now I really want to buy a Dior bag, the Dior Trotter Romantique bag!
It's sold out in all the Dior store around Europe... but I found a japanese website which sells them.
BUT i spend way too much already this month... sigh... have to wait for my new credit card month goes in!
That isn't untill the 25th... sh!t! Maybe i will buy the bag secretly hehehe!! =p
Ok thanks for listening to my longgggg story ;) Have a nice day Muse!

LOL not really surprising considering China produces a lot of imitation I would've guessed some way or another make up will be reduplicated as well XD
But this is shameless sham to say it is the real deal though! One of the reasons why I do not really like shopping on yahoo/ebay etc.

hiya Wendy!

Before I reply just wanted to say I watched your videos! WOWWWWWWWWWWw I seen the pics but watching the videos was awesome hehe ;) Thanks for such a great tour of your amazing dior collection ;) I appreciate the pimp *hugs* I felt special being mentioned in your post thanks lovie!

lol I'm an updating demon :) I do so at least three times aday!

phew good news as it appears that is where the fake ones mess up, the name inside. Where did you buy it from? Depending where you got it I'm sure it'll be safe :)

I'd be upset myself if that happened to me grrrr!

The cheeky blush you mean? I have two myself! they are fun ;) and pretty!

Holy cow! The gaucho palette is yummie! I never seen that?! Is that new!?

Gorgeous! If you get I'm definately looking forward to pics and a review :)

I actually have the pink dtrick palette ;) Great palette!

I got the Diorissime as well but didn't like it that much :P The color combo was kinda blah! I should do a post on my dior collection :)

Have you seen my Dior Spring Stash?

HOLY COW OUCH! So pricey! I don't know how anyone lives in Europe. It's so so so expensive. Whenever I visit I try not to spend money on cosmetics as I know I can get it here much cheaper!

Dresscamp was only $37 USD I think here! if you ever need MAC or palettes here just give a yell and I can get them for you ;) you can pay via paypal ;)

LOL I've been using MAC Dazzleglass Lipgloss all week. I have dozens of lipglosses and I should stop myself from purchasing more but I always end up doing so anyway :)

I pride myself on saying I haven't purchased a dior bag since last fall! Phew. Way to pricey a habit. We have an outlet here that sells Dior bags/clothes/ready to wear for much cheaper than retail.

LOL I loved your long post ;) Have a good day!

Hugs!

I once saw this horrible but at the same time wondeful looking fake Dior palette on Ebay.. people are bidding on those seriously.. would've bought it just for the sake to see what are those fakes like, if I'd gotten it cheap, but I didn't. It had a truly poisonous green in it, lol, still makes me laugh. Oh that purpley blue on the JS palette.. sigh. Don't want to support criminality, though.

Oh my god I know that feeling as these actually LOOK good in an odd way!

LOL! I totally understand!

Now if JS would jump on board and make palettes like this I'd be happy.

All the reruns stink lately!
