Indonesian Cosmetic Brands

My post on Korean brands was very popular and it inspired me to do more posts about brands that can be found abroad!

I thought I'd branch out and do a few posts like this and will be bringing you a few brands from all around the world that might interest you!

Here at Musings I have quite a range of readers from all over the world so why not do a bit of a spotlight on different brands found in different countries!

I find these posts particularly enjoyable and I think that you as a reader might as well! Being overly exposed to many brands here in the US I get tired of seeing the same things over and over again and being the cosmetic junkie I am I love the thrill of a new brand that's unattainable here in the US.

Today I thought I'd focus on Indonesian Cosmetic Brands. Indonesia has the standard line of cosmetics that you can pretty much find here in the US but they also have a few interesting brands that I've been privy too and find interesting one of which is PAC Beauty.

PAC Beauty is a lovely brand that has a wide selection of interesting colors and products to choose from!

The Spring release entitled Glitz and Gold looks particularly interesting!

The selection available is vast but it holds little appeal to me due to it's rather boring packaging although the eyeshadow stackables are interesting enough and similar in style to MAC pigments only smaller in size!

Stackable Loose Eyeshadows

Some color selections available in the loose shadow catalog!

Lip Rouge

Lipglosses

Eyeshadow Palettes

Makeup Artist Kit

Out of the entire line what I enjoyed most is the adverts and interesting face charts they have created using the color combos available in there catalog! I actually find the advertisement for the collection much more attractive and appealing then I do the actually cosmetics. Again this could be do to packaging but it looks a tad on the cheap side however if I can create some of the looks below I'd say it's well worth my hard earned cash!

A particular favorite advert of mine! I love the contrast of the black and white photo and beautiful green shadow on her eyes!

The goddess series adverts are amazingly well done as well! There are four total rotating and each is more dramatic then the last!

I've never tried anything in the line aside from two loose eyeshadows which were both highly pigmented aside from that I've never been curious enough to dive into anything else they offer! Although the advertising is beautiful, packaging always sells the cosmetic to me and this sadly fails in that department!

Sariayu is another brand available within Indonesia. Sadly, the brand is also equally as boring packaging wise as Pac Beauty although they do incorporate some fun colors into the packaging!

Sariayu carries a range of cosmetics as well as haircare, skin and body care, and herbal supplements which translates as it's your one stop shop for beautifying your entire self inside and out!

Although the line has a wide range of colors available the product list is small and only includes some lipsticks, glosses, eyeshadow, and blush for the point makeup. This basically consists of very simple eyeshadow palettes and nothing too elaborate.

Lipsticks

Eyeshadow Palette

Blush Palette

Even though the packaging fails to wow me it deserves to be mentioned that the shades are very flattering and in complimenting with the modern Indonesian girl's coloring and skintone in mind! For example see below adverts from the past and how gorgeous the cosmetics look on the models skintone and type!

These particular adverts are about 10 years old but notice the beautiful juicy red lips and lovely greens and golds that compliment the look of the model perfectly! I truly love these looks and wish I could pull off a similar style!

All and all I don't particularly like the style of packaging and feel it needs a bit of a revamp however the line is interesting if nothing else!

Finally last on my hit list for Indonesia is Caring Colours. Caring Colours is really a tiny line as far as I know (do correct me if I'm wrong). They carry the typical point and base makeup products but the colors combinations are nothing wow aspiring and the catalog is very basic with little frills!

Blush Compact

I do love the eyeshadow trios available though as they come in some wonderful color combos that compliment each shade in the palette perfectly!

Caring Colours Eyeshadow Trio

Indonesia has the promise of some interesting brand but fails the Muse with it's poor packaging options!

However, the uniqueness and different products carried throughout each line definately holds some appeal!

Indonesia carries standard drugstore brands as well such as L'oreal, Revlon, Etc..however the true promise lays in what is exclusively available to it's country alone and these are some brands you might find in your local Indonesian drugstore!

Anyone from Indonesia?

glad u post abt Indonesian brands, Muse! I'm from Indonesia btw, and honestly I'm not a big fan of Indonesian make up brands. So far I have tried Sariayu skin care and it turned out very dissapointing to my sensitive face. Caring Colour is one of the Sariayu sub-brand, it looks promising, I've tried the foundation but my skin allergic to it. Another low-end brand called pixy(the company is from Japan, but the brand is only for Indonesia, I guess), it provides basic colors with very cheap price. I like the blush on, it's very pigmented but blends really well to my skin.
All packagings are boring, that's very true, haha, but it's because they want to cut the production costs. Oh, btw, the skincare range from Viva (I think it's the 1st Indonesian cosmetic brand) is good too, simple but harmless to the skin.
these are the sites u might want to check:
http://www.vivacosmetic.com/

cheers!

hey adina :)

I'm glad you're digging these ;) I'm sorta yawning at our regular lineup so it's nice to discover some beauty from abroad!

Hey one day you should hop the train to White Plains and we can do the mall scene for a bit and then we can drive back down to the city and shop. We can make a day of it I got a park pass so parking is major cheap or we can go by train back whatever is easier. Have you wandered around Mamamorneck Ave at all? They have some kinda sorta funky shops along the strip that carry interesting clothes and such. I know you go to the Westchester so we can easily walk around the Ave and head downward into Neiman's which will lead us right into the mall. I'm totally babble shop talk at the moment ;)

Can you tell how serious I am about shopping? I've wanted to do a round with you for a LONG time but I've been so swamped and my schedule has been ridiculously packed! Jamie from Beautychick also is in the area so maybe she can join up with us!

hehe ;) I likey testing Mally in person :) Btw have you been to Ricky's?

Hugs!

Oh wow cool! :) :( Sadly the packaging isn't so fab! sigh!

I've tried a moisturizing from Sariayu but it wasn't too great in all honesty :(

pixy I haven't heard of but of course I'll be in a googling frenzy to have a lookee!

how's the packaging on pixy? If it's Japanese perhaps kawaii?

Thanks for the site :) off for a look now!

What sort of posh brands do you have available your end? Such as MAC, etc? And is it costly? Curious!

Thanks for the comment again Ay!

Interesting post! I've tried Chinese and Korean makeup brands, but never seen or heard of any Indonesian stuff. Korean stuff is cheap, they have a couple stores downtown. Anywho, I just saw the Lunasol Spring collection online...I like the Blue Green Coral Sheer Contrast Eyes e/s pallete...but like all expensive Japanese products, the colors will probably be too sheer for my taste. I think I'll try Majolica...I want some of their e/s palettes. (this is out of the ordinary for me, I'm a Kate kinda girl)...Hope you have a nice day :)

Just found out I'm going to Taiwan in a few months!! Amazing since most Japanese brands are also there!! Can you write a post on Taiwanese brands, since I've never used much and mostly just use the Japanese ones they import? Anyways, great blogging! I always come to this blog :)

Pixy packagings are too plain, made from really cheap plastic unfortunately, so u won't like it I guess :(
Most Indonesian brands are producing low-end cosmetics, considering that most ppl having low level income, say abt 100-500 USD depend on their education level. I think PAC is the most pricey one.
Maybelline, L'oreal, etc are middle end.
MAC, body shop, Bloom, etc are middle-high end.
Estee Lauder, Chanel, etc are high end.

Hope it helps!

Thanks! Korea has some really cute brands like Etude House ;) But Japanese is of course, in my book, the best of the best!

Lunasol is sadly a bit on the sheer side :( The geminite palettes are very pigmented though have you tried them!?

MJ I have tons of the palettes if you need any recs let me know ;)

Hope you're day went well today! You should be fast asleep about now ;)

aw poop :( I love me some cute packaging!

but sometimes even the bad packaging houses great products. Look at excel...ugly packaging but great product ;)

Your cosmetic price range is about what ours is. Loreal, maybelline is lower for us where as mac, body shop is middle and chanel and such is high! So about the same here ;)

Thanks for your input lovie!

The 'Sacred Goddess' adverts are a bit confusing; Indonesia is a strict Muslim country -why are they worshiping Ladyboys all of a sudden? There is no God but Rupaul, Izzard is his prophet!

Also, unless I am missing something, the 'Black Goddess' is Asian, not black.

Allah will be most displeased!

Hi Muse!

wow i think it's awesome that you branch out to so many other cosmetics line from other countries as well! and i appreciate it very much =)

anyway caring colors, sari ayu and PAC are all sub brands of Martha Tilaar. i think each line targets different consumers. for the not-so-attractive packgaing, guess they are doing it to cut cost. which in turn really make the products really affordable!

i tried some of the caring colors eyeshadows while i was in the dept store before, well i guess its okay. the color comes out like whats in the pan. but i think the sari ayu/ caring color line is really more suited to indonesians skintone. PAC e/s is really pigmented as well!

another brand that's popular is Ultima II. never tried it before [and i dont think i will hehe] and this brand has really good reviews.

hi charlieee!

Thanks very very much love. I appreciate it!

I'm excited to share this with you guys and it makes me very happy when you're just as excited to read about it!

I concur. The lack of packaging does reflect well on the price! You're feeding me info I didn't know as I didn't realize these were subbrands ;) Thanks for telling me!

I agree totally. I've tried to of the pigments but I felt it was better suited to a Indonesian skintype and tone!

We actually have Ultima II here but I've never actually tried any of it either!

I think it's more geared towards the mature woman.

The packaging is nice though and somewhat elegant ;)

Thanks for your awesome comment!

IDK, I'm more of a RuPaul aficionado than an Izzard fan (if that's possible). Nobody does it better, IMHO. Makes me feel sad for the rest, really.

Anywho, the Ladyboys are committing sacriledge and Allah (or Rupaul, depending on your religious affiliation) will punish them most severely for their transgressions. I'm hoping for a plague of locusts which will then get trapped in that shiteous weave (and maybe take out a few of the tangles).

They should have at least contacted RuPaul for the 'Black Goddess' advert (that shit was MADE for him).

Whatever happened to RuPaul anyway? I miss him/her. :-(

Actually, after September 11, it's become much harder to hijack a post. Trust me, I've tried.

Hi Muse,

Thanks for featuring Indonesian make-up lines. I'm from Indonesia and I agree with you the packaging is not good (at all). My favorite line is PAC. The company, I think tried to dupe MAC (MAC --> PAC, see). This one is considered the highest brand among other make-up lines. A lot of make-up artists swore by its products. The huge pallette sells very well over here. I finished one PAC lipstick (and I've only finished 3 tubes of lippies in my entire life). The finishing is satin and quite mouisturizing but unfortunately color selection is very limited. The foundation and powders are quite good, don't cause breakouts, which is important in this heat and humidity.

Marthaa Tilaar, the parent company of those make up lines also has makeup school for personal and professional purposes and I guess that's the reason why they are a huge hit among local make up artists here.

@mandypandy...ROFL on the ladyboy comment. The woman is a very famous singer here and she took plenty of hit due to her looks in the sacred goddess.

But you know, before Indonesia is a muslim country, it is one who believed in pagans and goddesses. In fact, plenty of Javanese and other in different islands still believe in these goddesses, eventhough they also claim Islam devotees.

We are a country of paradoxes, you know. You should come and visit to prove it ;)

Thanks for the comment again! I meant to tell you in the other comment you left that I just adore your little picture. You're too cute ;) Makes me smile everytime I see it! You look like a happy soul!

Sad to say I agree. Packaging stinks however the quality isn't bad as I've tried some of the loose shadows from PAC and it's actually good!

LOL add in a P and you got Indonesian MAC eh? :)

Wow that's very interesting. I thought PAC was a mid range and not a higher end. Very interesting! The huge palette looks amazing I was particularly fascinated with the concealers in it!

The lippies looked very nice but I was concerned about the lack of color :(

Thanks for all this great info Piece of Cake! It's quite fascinating to hear a review on the products and more info about them!

Don't mind Mandy she's boarded the crazy train with me a long time ago ;) She's harmless really hehe!

I'll come visit ;) Can we shop?

I'm aware that Indonesia is actually a moderate Muslim country (so yes, I stretched the truth a bit in my prior comment) and that there are enclaves (like the island of Bali) where Hinduism is predominant, but I'm still surprised no one raised an eyebrow over a brand called 'Sacred Goddess'. I also hail from a Muslim country, but one that would be less tolerant about such things. Still, for my money, Rupaul is the only transvestite fit to be called 'Black Goddess'! To heck with those ladyboys!

I would love to come to Indonesia (my Aunt and her husband have been there already and loved it), if only I could afford it. Here's hoping the dollar goes up soon...

Hey, thank you so much for featuring the Indonesian brands, it's so nice to see things from my hometown being given the spotlight.

I have only tried PAC's stacked loose pigment thingies. It's great, pigmented, shimmery and have awesome lasting power. I agree though that the colours are geared towards those with warm skintones!

Cheers and thanks for the comment!

Indonesia is NOT a Moslem country. It has the largest concentration of people of Moslem religion, but the state is not based on any religion, and although there are radical elements trying to change that, it will likely not happen anytime soon. The adverts you see above pale in comparison with others now currently in the media.

Anyway, in terms of make up, I think Thailand and China has a few good selection, some that comes to mind include VoV, Sheene and others.

There's a few other lovely budget lines from Indonesia, including Inez, La Tulipe (quite good actually), Wardah (a Moslem brand, claiming to be halal), and a few others. I love going to the markets and checking out these budget options, the colors are generally very pigmented.
