Pointless (and scary) Products: Lip Scrub

This thing scares me.

I've run across scrubs for my lips before but never a scrub that was disguised as a lipstick. Is it me or does it scare you too?

I'm imagining it's quite like applying lipstick with a razor blade. Seriously who buys this? I get really chapped lips in the winter that are red and flaky but I haven't reached the point of desperation that I'm reaching for my tube of "lip scrub".

I'm just scared.

Someone hold me.

Another pointless product brought to you by the Muse!

Bleh. I don't really buy into the lip scrub thing. I had one by C.O. Bigelow and never used it more than once. It didn't really do much, to be honest! About this product though, it's lipstick tube disguise might be inconvenient in case you grab it thinking its a lipstick before running out the door!

I am a firm believer in using a clean, wet washcloth and some Vaseline to lightly "scrub" lips... I've been doing that and applying lots of lip balm this winter and so far it's been working out pretty well.

Hi Musey,

I have quite enjoyed your blog these last few days (I always do!) it has been keeping me company while I have the flu- I feel too blah to write e-mails or much else so reading blogs and gossip has been sustaining me.
I had to comment on this- just what is it?? What brand is this lip scrub? It is positively unattractive and looks very strange- I can't identify the brand at all.

A somewhat nice alternative that really works and is also very cute with it's packaging that I quite enjoy is Tartes' Frxtion. Have you tried that? I am obsessed with it! I have 3! It seems this is trying to copy that to some degree but is way off the mark.

I imagine whatever this lip scrub is it must hurt!- it looks like that hard bit of coconut rind or whatever it is that is often in some body scubbies or foot scrubs you know? Yikes! I say keep that away from my lips.

A lip scrub I have dying to get my hands on is Sara Happs sugar Lip Scrubs in all the delicious flavors they come in, especially Vanilla or Brown Sugar. I have it in Peppermint and the stuff is devine but Peppermint is just not my thing.

My comment is running long. Sorry for yada yada yadaing, ha, it is late at night.

Sincerely,
Sarah

...I kind of want it. But I love scrubs anyway. I do wish they'd made it look more like a lip balm than a lipstick.

hiya wen!

LOL! I'll take the chance to hug you while you hold me ;)

YAY! that's awesome! RMK is a great brand to get while in London! And stock up on plenty of boots! I find the quality stinks here much better from the source. Have her hit Superdrug and Boots for some fab finds!

Get some chocolate! LOL! Cadbury ;)

They have alot of BP that we don't have available. BP has a new concealer pen available UK side that I'm dying to try you might want to see if she can locate one as it looks fab!

Awww :P studying stinks :P

Love ya!

hi Shop With A Vengeance!

Ugh imagine surprising yourself with a after lunch touchup and this is what pops up?

I actually have used the Sarah Happ Lip Scrub and love that. It works a treat. I didn't know CO put one out. I'd totally buy into that as I'm some sort of strange CO purchaser. I get sucked in by their crummy products!

HEY that sounds good. I didn't think to scrub with vaseline. Vaseline is really a miracle product ;) I use it under my eyes lately to combat the winter dryness!

Next time I have chapped lips I'm gonna dry scrubbing it with vaseline and a wash cloth! Good tip!

Thanks!

Hi Miss Sarah!

Aw thanks! I am happy to hear it's been keeping you company while you have the flu! Although I am terribly sorry to hear you're ill! I was a few weeks ago! I feel your pain :(

Garden Botanika makes it. Never heard of the company to be honest!

Here's the description:

Eliminate chapped lips and exfoliate with this moisturizing lip scrub formulated with avocado oil and jojoba seed powder.

I dunno about eliminating chapped lips but it could possibly take your lips and teeth with it while scrubbing away!

lol!

Tarte's Frxition? No? How did I miss that! I normally use the Sarah Happ one. Love the taste and it actually does work!

Got a link for the Tarte?

Curious!

I've tried the Benefit Dr Feel Good one too but that stinks!

Do keep it away from my lips. It frightens me. I picture chapped lips and this rubbed on it?! OWWWWWWW!

I've tried the Brown Sugar and Peppermint for the Sarah Happs (or Sara) and they are so yum and actually do WORK! They have 'em on ebay for a bit of a discount too!

FUNNY as I think YOU were the one that recommended it to me to begin with!

I love your long comments :)

I missed ya!

Feel better soon ok?

*Snuggles*

Oh no darling! it's so strange ;)

Lip balm might be good as you can rub it slowly on but lipstick form kinda worries me a bit ;)

Hi Musey,

You like my long comments aye? Well here's another one for you. ;)

Thanks for the well wishes. I am nearly over the flu now; I just have such pure exhuastion from it. I'm all weak.

Ha, so that is Garden Bontanica is it- it looks like it was a lipstick dropped in the soil in a garden! lol. All those jojoba bits look like dirt. :|

Here is a link for the Tarte Frxtion: (Sephora.com)

http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P158512&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=5648

I am rather snobbish towards Benefit- I have never found anything that I like from them though I do want to try thier
Thrrrob Blush. I might give in to that temptation.
I tried thier regular Dr. Feelgood stuff for the face and that made me feel all greasy and
it did not make me "feel good" at all. That makes you feel like you ought to see a doctor- lol.
I've heard nothing but bad reviews for the Benefit Dr. Feel Good lip scrub.

How did you like Sara Happs Brown Sugar scrub- is it as yummy as it sounds? Like I said I only tried Peppermint. Which flavor do you prefer out of those two? I love how they work- there is so much product in the little tubs. They feel so nice on.

Ok, I'll wrap this up.
I hope you have a lovely day.

Sincerely,
Sarah

Nono! I have something like this by the Body Shop called Lip Scuff its quite good if u have really dry lips - like in the winter I have horrid bit of skin that need to come off so this is a bit gentler then just trying to pull it off. You need to wipe it all off once ur done tho! or then u do look diseased :)

OH YA YA! I seen this! This is interesting!! And it's good? Hmm!

I'm snobbish too. I have a love hate relationship with 'em! Hate most and love some!

I did like Throob :)

Dr Feel Good is acne in a cute compact hehe! LOL! Indeed not feeling so hot after that but I did feel oily!

lol!

I LOVE the Sara Happs not only are they yummie but they scrub off my flakey bits perfectly!
