MAC Heatherette First Impressions

Squeal!!

I got Heatherette tonight! Wahoooooo! My MA at Macy's called me around 3:30 this afternoon and said, "It's hereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

So of course after the longest work day ever I headed over to pick me up some!

The first thing I need to mention is the fact that Fafi is better. Sorry kids! I like Fafi's color selection way better! Heatherette is definately a beautiful collection but Fafi still has my heart!

Ok! Anyway!

I got a majority of it of course because as you know the Muse is sick, diseased, obsessed, and generally addicted to MAC crack! The best news is I got my new digital camera in the mail today so you're going to be treated to some high quality pics!

I'm just starting to learn the new cam so if pictures aren't fab gimme time to firgure out all the bells and whistles on this thing and we'll be good to go!

The palettes aren't really much to write home about in all honesty. The compacts are gorgeous, pink, and glittery but aside from that the colors within aren't so wow aspiring. The 1st contains Hoppin' which is your best bet for a brow highlighter. It sort of reminds me of Shroom but not quite the same. It's a creamy pale peach with a pearl finish. The next color is Mood Ring which is a sea foam green and the last color is Cloudburst which is a sparkling navy blue! Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Cloudburst part of Blue Storm's release? I'm too lazy to go look through my shadows at the moment but it seems vaguely familiar to me!

The 2nd palette is my favorite of the two but yet again the colors aren't exactly anything to get to hyper over! Baby Petals is a very pale pink, V.I.P. is a bubblegum pink, and Cassette is a dark shade of purple. Unlike the first palette these colors all work well together and little thought goes into what sort of look you can create!

Beauty Powders are of course a fast favorite for me! I'm utterly addicted to Beauty Powders and I'm officially chuffed when they are released in the LE packaging! Smooth Harmony is a muddy beige color that I'm not thrilled with but of course like the sick person I am it ended up in my cart! Alpha Girl deserves some of your attention because it's quite a delightful shade of fleshy peach that I'm absolutely loving! Both are worth having a look at but Alpha Girl is the best of the two!

I got three of the four lipsticks released one of which I'm considering returning because it looks a bit too nude for my taste. My two favorites of the lipsticks are Lollipop Loving and Hollywood Nights. Lollipop Loving is a beautiful coral with bits of gold shimmer and Hollywood Nights is a bright fuschia! I also got Melrose Mood which is a nude pink but I think it'll go back. It's way to mod for me to pull off even though it looks so beautiful on the display!

The lipglasses I ended up with were Sock Hop which will go well with Lollipop Loving. It's a beautiful true coral peach that's very flattering for the Summer! I also got Style Minx which is a hot fuschia and of course it compliments Hollywood Nights beautifully! And lastly I got Starlet Kiss which is a lovely true pink! I'm wondering if I try some Melrose Mood with some Starlet Kiss if it'll look good..hmmmm....!

The dual pencils are the stars of the collection! These are something to get excited about in my opinion! One side is a regular pencil while the other side sports a soft sparkle pencil! Cheers! I got all four because I was easily tempted by both the price and the awesome color selection! I always find MAC pencils easy to work with and these are no exception! The color combs are gorgeous as well ranging from purples, blues, golds, and silver! Very nice!

Lastly I got one pigment which was Pink Pearl. This reminds me of the pink piggie released with the Sweetie Cake Collection, the name of which escapes me at the moment (I believe it was Pink Mauved). The color is nice but I'd have loved a truer pink! We don't have nearly enough true pink pigments in the catalog! Jardin Aires I skipped as I have it already and it's a repromote from a past collection!

I didn't get the glitters simply because I already have Reflects Gold and 3D Silver is lovely but I'll never use up that much glitter! I did get a healthy sample from my MA which will last me years I'm sure!

Overall, the collection is lovely and worth some of your time and money however I found Fafi was a much better release color wise however Heatherette does deserve the award for better packaging! No stickers here. All the packaging is printed on and you won't be running into any peeling sticker drama a la Fafi!

Another fine collection from MAC and I'm excited to start creating some looks with it! Fafi is my truest love at the moment but Heatherette comes in a quick second!

How about you?

Got any of this yet?

Want it?

Love it?

Feeling love for Heatherette or Fafi?

How about the pic

Tell the Muse!

PS What do you think of the pictures taken with my new digital camera?

Hmmmm, to be honest, the Heatherette collection looked so blah to me! I don't find the colours or packaging appealing at all (even the printed-on design doesn't salvage it)!

And you're right, Cloudburst is from the Blue Storm collection. The only thing that midly excites me is the repromote of Jardin Aires.

*droool* at everything. Well, mostly the beauty powders and the lippies. Oh Muse why must you get every single item from every collection ever released?? Making the rest of us envious :P Oh and I agree about the Melrose Mood, it looks way too mod!!

I need to get the in's on stuff like you do girl! I'm so jealous. I wish they would call me. Maybe my store just isn't that good at maintaining their clientele :/

I'm glad that the trios are ok. That means I can skip them and save some money! I'm not really feeling the colors, well maybe Trio 1 because of Cloudburst. Me likes the hardcore Jewel Tone ones. I'm thinking of the lipsticks and glasses though. Oh no, I think I'm starting to lose motivation :/

As for Fafi, it was aaalright. Bought Eyes 2 and still haven't used it. I think I'll just sell it because I seriously just find my colors in paint pots.

I'll see if I can go tonight to (secretly) check them out ;)

I feel the same way about this line, I liked Fafi better. But I haven't gone down to MAC yet. Thanks for the review :)

Hey Muse just wondering how would you use the beauty powders and what do you consider the must haves of this release aside from the pencils. Thanks again!

I def. liked Heatherette better than Fafi. It's more of a wearable color for me.

I'm going ot Nordstrom today after work. We'll see what i can restrain myself from. argh.... budget budget budget..

hiya liz!

It is. Unless you're diehard mac fan i don't think you need it in all honesty. I did like the packaging myself but the colors are nothing at all to get hyper about!

HA! I knew it! It looks so damned familiar. Jardin Aires is nice but I had it already so I was too excited!

You saved money congrats hehe!

Firstly, welcome to the Canon family!! Mine's a Canon and I love my camera. Pictures of the palettes (vertical) are fantastic but the pictures (horizontal) seem abit bright??

What a big haul! The e/s palettes look super sweet. But only the dual pencils got me interested. I want these!! Pink Pearl is such a sweet sweet pink.

Waiting to see your FOTD for this collection. ;)

P.S. You've got mail!

The pink packaging is amazing, but the contents are 'meh'. Also, those line-drawing portraits of Traver Rains and Richie Rich will give you nightmares. Or hallucinations.

I'm kinda liking the 3D Silver glitter, but I'm sure I could find something similar at Michaels for $3.99.

On a side note: Don't 'Traver Rains' and 'Ritchie Rich' sound like pornstar names to you? Which makes me think that Jenna Jameson should have her own collection for MAC. If Fergie gets one, she should too!

Aww some stores aren't :( It all depends on the MA you deal with I think. I've seen some MA's that are awful :P

The entire collection just ok. I was happier with Fafi :P

I'm having a hard time with Trio 1 and what to create using it. Cloudburst is pretty but it's difficult to incorporate into looks for me. Very dark!

LOL it's good to lose motivation, money saved ;)

I liked the quads from fafi but honestly you are right nothing to be too hyper about. BUT I did love the rest of fafi :)

Do tell me if you haul any of it curious what you'll think!

heya mandee!

The pics I'm a bit disappointed with. They look orange. Have to fiddle around with the settings a bit see what I can do ;)

Dual liners are a ok for waterline. I never used the soft sparkle pencils though on my waterline as it'll be too gritty and make my eyes water but the other side of the pencil is a mac kohl pencil which is completely fine to use on your waterline!

Come back and tell us what you think when you see it for yourself!

Hugs!

hiya Yazmena!

In all honesty if you're not a big mac fan and you're not into collecting mac and the packaging isn't yelling at you to buy it you can safely skip all over it.

It's NOT that great. It's good but not great. I loved the packaging which is why I was nutty with buying it but most of is a miss really.

If I really have to pick must haves it'd be the lighter beauty powder, the dual pencils, and maybe trio 2.

Lippies I'd go with sock hop and lollipop loving are very nice as well!

I hope this helps!?

Honestly if you aren't loving the packaging you can seriously skip. It personally didn't get me as hyped as fafi :)

hiya lizzzzzz!

thanks. It does indeed have a macro function but I didn't use it to take these ;)

I was kinda disappointed that they made me look orange and just an orangey undertone to pics. I have to pay around with it a bit more. My old cam had a macro setting but it worked rubbish in my humblest.

Thanks for the comments Liz :-)

I would feel pretty weird buying makeup with part of my name on it. :P And I agree, the colors aren't so vibrant compared to Fafi. Most of my MAC purchases are originals (part of their regular sale items), not really from releases/special collections.

I got Heatherette this morning, and I like Fafi better too! The Heatherette packaging is outstanding compared to the lame Fafi stickers, but I just love the Fafi colors better.

I'm not disappointed though. It's a good collection, just not great.

I might have to get a few more pencils though. I only got one...I see myself getting some tomorrow....

I went to MACPRO yesterday and I picked up the MELROSE shade, I wanted the HOLLYWOOD shade but when I tried it I wasn't that impress. In fact the only thing I really liked was the packaging, I have to agree with the muse, the colors weren't wowing me. I also brought some more TRACE GOLD blush for highlighting and a SWEETWILLIAM blushcreme, can't go wrong with some ole'faithfuls!!

hi heather!

LOL! I would think that meant you wanted it more hehe!

I think sometimes we forget that some of the best stuff is in the original catalog. We get so hyper with le when we have a ton of similar shades right there available for us ;)

Clever girl you are ;)

hiya gee!

I must say the packaging is fantastic! I'm in complete agreement! I love Fafi much better though! Color wise fafi got the award but packaging Heatherette nabs that award!

It is a good one. But I agree not great. I'm not particularly thrilled with the palette colors as they are a bit weird for me to work with but aside from that I like the collection. What did you get?

The pencils are really nice. They smooth on like melted butter. Beautiful!

Cheers!
Happy Easter!

hiya couturesista!

Naa me either. Sadly it just didn't call my name. Loved the packaging but that's 'bout it :( It was good but definately not a great collection!

You're the 2nd person to say that the original catalog had some good finds in it. I really do agree. Sometimes we forget the vast catalog of goodies we probably haven't tried b/c we are all clamoring around for the LE's!

Trace Gold is so beautiful! I don't own it myself but I've swatched it on so many times it's ridiculous that I don't yet own such a fab color!

Enjoy your goodies!
Thanks for your awesome comments!
