MAC Beauty Powder Blushes First Impressions

I was lucky enough to get a few of the MAC Beauty Powders today! I'm pretty excited as they are bloody good! I got four of the eight and I'm currently wanting the rest!

They are terribly good and I must say I'm impressed with these for shizzle! I highly suggest motoring to your nearest counter or freestanding store to have a lookee!

I'm slightly puzzled over the "Beauty Powder" terminology and I'm thinking that's just a fancy word for blush because these are sincerely pigmented, silky, smooth, and as easily blendable as a blush so where the term "beauty powder" comes into play I'm clueless about. As I had mentioned in a previous post most of my beauty powders from MAC are either filled with shimmer or are sort of a matte highlight powder or touch up powder where as these are full blown blushes in my humblest opinion! I guess this is MAC's solution of combing two great products, blush and beauty powder, and coming up with one awesome product! On a side note these are pretty damn pigmented and pack a bunch so you might want to be very light with your hand during application!

MAC Beauty Powders from Past Collections

From Left to Right Barbie Loves MAC Beauty Powder in Pearl Blossom, MAC Fafi Beauty Powder in Belightful, MAC Novel Twist Beauty Powder in Sun Twist

Old Beauty Powder vs New Beauty Powder Blushes

These are smaller then standard powders I have or have come across. They are the size of a regular MAC blush and carry the same price tag of $17.50 USD. The product is extremely pigmented with a tiny sheen of pearl that really lights up my face! Within the colors released there are at least two or three you'll want to take home for your very own or you might be diseased as I am and want to collect them all!

The colors I ended up with were Joyous, Sweetness, Serenely, and True Romantic. Joyous and Sweetness are probably my fav of the four. Joyous is a candy peach color where as Sweetness is a bright bubblegum pink. Serenely is a deep desert, dusky coral with bits of brown and rose and True Romantic is Dusty Pink.

Two brushes were released as well with the collection one of which I'm currently loving. The 169 is LE and quite a gorgeous little brush to use with these powders. 169 is pretty similar to the standard catalog 168. The differences I noticed between the two were that the 168 is a fuller brush where as the 169 seemed less so. I already own a few of the 168's from various brush sets I've purchased so I'm quite pleased to now have the full size 169 in my beauty arsenal. This particular style brush is excellent for blush application, under eye powder application, touch ups, and setting powder on. I'm particularly loving the way this dusts the beauty powders on and gives me a natural flush to my cheeks! Very nice brush and worth taking a look at if you're in store!

From top to bottom: MAC 169 and MAC 168SE

All in all the collection is quite nice and I'm impressed! I'll be doing some FOTD pictures with the blushes on shortly so stay tuned!

Loving this collection?

Got any of the beauty powders for yourself?

Love the 169?

Tell the Muse!

Just a FYI, but the beauty powder blushes are not related to regular beauty powders :) Different product - I guess it is the fine-milled nature of a beauty powder with the potency, size, and feel of a regular blush.

Hmmmmmm.... I've been eyeing 'True Romance' since I found about this collection last Saturday, but I don't know. I have a funny feeling that it might be very similar to my Bourjois Rose D'Or (and I hate getting repeats). My other half is in Boston this week and so when I made my wish list Saturday night, I opted to go for the powder blush in Coygirl. He's coming back Sunday morning, which means it'll be makeup playtime for me Sunday afternoon! :)

hey christine!

Thanks! I figured it was a combo of the beauty powder and the blushes which equaled "beauty powder blush"

;)

I soooo want to get over there. I'm kind of banking on them staying on display (at least I hope) because I don't have a camera and I'm still on time-out with Hubbo on getting one :P LOL.

But I imagine they are soft to the touch like beauty powders and pigmented/sized like a blush. Oh, move here Muse! Save me from my timeout, lol.

Oh yeah, about the swatches. Yes, if you could swatch True Romantic and Rose D'Or side by side, it would be super! Thanks a million!!! :D

Was I not right about Joyous and Sweetness? ;) Sweet haul. I totally forgot about 168; now I need to look at that again!

I only bought True Romantic - I only have one really cool toned pink blush (KP Face Color in 16) and felt that I needed another. :)

Don't hate me for leaving my third comment today, ha! :P But I had to cuz I was just at MAC early this evening and found the Beauty Powder Blush sitting next to the Fluidline. Imagine my suprise as we NEVER get things the same time as The States (Fafi only hit the stands here last week). So I swatched True Romantic, and yes indeed, it is VERY SIMILAR to Bourjois Rose D'or. Glad I didn't include it on my wish list then!

I also swatched the other ones and I think the only one I'm interested in is 'Shy Beauty'. But we'll see.

I sooo heart Joyous and True Romance. I'm going to put Sweetness in heavy rotation when summer gets a little closer.

Also, the 169 brush is the first MAC blush brush I have and I'm just getting used to using an angled brush. So far, I'm scared of putting streaks on my face, but I'll keep practicing ;)

I definitely think they'd be great for under eye application as you mentioned too.

Wonderful review!

hi Mrs. Lynne!

They are fabbbbbbbbbb! LOL! time out?! Hehe!

I think you should be safe and they'll be around a little bit. Especially since Heatherette is releasing next week instead of the end of the month! So everyone will flock to that instead of the BP display!

Very soft and silky and extremely pigmented!!!!!!

LOL I'm coming over! I'll bring my helicopter and take it in for a quick dive to rescue you!

Have your credit card ready! Bring the kids ;)

Auntie Muse can watch them why you drool over the powders!

You're so RIGHT! awesome awesome colors! It's a great brush!

True Romantic is kinda my fav of the bunch as it's not as pigmented and gives a softer glow ;) so good choice!

Love ya!

hey mizz cookie!

I must say I am really loving the colors we got Lil. I can't wait to see these all on you!

169 takes a bit of getting used too but once you get a hang of it it'll become a quick favorite.

What brushes do you normally use?

I have one from a christmas set that I use for under eyes. It brushes on just enough powder under my eyes to hold my concealer ;)

Aw thanks! Your review was equally fab!

*hugs*

hi Anonymous!

The review basically covers all the colors. The formula, texture, etc...

Serenely is a very nice color and is actually my favorite. It's a beautiful dark peachy color. You have to use a light hand with it though as the color is very dark and pigmented :) but it creates a beautiful glow!

hi anonymous!

Thanks so much for loving my blog ;)

Serenely is gorgeous. It's very pigmented, bit too pigmented actually so a light hand is best for application. it's a beautiful dark peachy coral that goes on very lovely. It lights up my face beautifully. It's probably the most vibrant color out of all 8 colors
!

Hiya Muse,

I normally use this Prescriptives brush I got in a set. It's so old, and the first blush brush I've ever had, so switching to anything else takes some getting used to ;)

I recently got a Lumiere brush that I'm going to review soon that I'm liking so far too.. there's still hope for me yet!
