MAC Holiday

MAC Holiday is live and up on the website! It's not yet available for purchase just yet but you can start viewing what's up, prices, and of course start making your wish list!

Tomorrow it'll be on sale at counters and I'd say either later today or tomorrow it'll be ready for purchase on the website!

Keep in mind that tomorrow's releases do not include
Finery (the lip bag sets) or Curiousitease (mini pigments, glosses, etc...). Curiousitease and Finery will be available for purchase via the website but not at your counter until November 15th and the 21st! However, you may be luck because as I recall my counter had gotten in some of the dress sets from Formal Black's release sort of early!

What I'm wanting (depending how they look in person) are the eye palettes for sure, coral lip bag, and tan lip bag.

I know my list is small but of course when I'm faced with all of it I might very well change my mind!

The lip palettes I may nab one...probably a Viva Glam palette.

Aside from that the rest I can safely skip! All the vials of pigment are tempting but I have the full sizes and don't need any of these, the liners I have as well, and the glosses I'll have to see maybe one will tempt me!

As tempting as it all is I do find some of it disappointing. The fact that the eye palettes look identical to last year's colors has me worried but you can never really go by the MAC website for color swatches so I'd rather get to my counter and view it for myself.

If you happened to miss last year's Formal Black release and some other color stories this is a good time to get what you may have missed out on!

Some items that are popping up in these kits were LE from past collections and wonderful if you haven't yet gotten your hands on them!

I see Helium pigment, Softwash Grey pigment, etc....

Now is also a good time to grab the softsparkle eyeliner pencils! The first time I got these was with the Sweetie Cake collection and I loved them! Now is a good time to get A mini lot of them for $29.50! Can't go wrong there!

Overall it's a beautiful collection and if you're new to MAC this is such a great place to start! If you're an older collector it can be a bit of a disappointment as many items are repromoted from past collections and colors are similar.

The Muse will keep you posted when she gets her goodies on Thursday!

What are you getting?

Oh man! What do I want??

1.Curiousitease: 5 Softsparkle eye pencils
2. Finery: Wana see which colours suit me best IRL before I decide which one.
3. Royal assets: 6 warm/cool eyes

Isn't this a short list!? :P

Your list is perfect ;) If I didn't have the softsparkles I'd so want those ;)

Sweet list!!!!!!!!!! LOL not really short! Looks good to me!

I'm excited about the palettes but I'm also a tad bit disappointed as the site they look almost identical to last year!

I can't WAIT to see them in person!

When does is the Singapore release?

What's absolutely incredible is that I'm only getting one thing and I'm even waffling about whether or not to actually buy it.

The one thing I might get is the Softsparkle collection of pencils, and that's only going to be for Reflecto simply because I've seen it on eBay and was blown away by the beautiful blue of it.

But as for the rest of it? Dear god I could not be more disappointed in MAC than this. This collection is terrible. It's all more or less identical to last year's Formal Black and MACouture, just mixed together and in different packaging. It's probably the most uninspired thing I've seen in terms of holiday collections and that includes Bobbi Brown's stuff, considering that everything they release looks absolutely the same. It's all boring browns, beiges and neutrals with some warm reds thrown in there. And that's what this MAC collection looks like.

Not only that, but Antiquitease and Curiositease are probably the STUPIDEST goddamn names I've ever heard a cosmetics company come up with, and that's including Dior's pink nail polish that was called Palm Tree which my mum bought way back when I was in eighth grade.

Not even the brush collections are special! And last year's Pret-a-Portier was stunning!

I am so so so disappointed. D'ya hear me, MAC?! I'm fucking disappointed in you! You're more creative than tacky yellow gold and ramblings on how neo-antiques will make us all seductive and mysterious! Dear GOD.

....well. I should probably go to sleep.

But fuck me, does this holiday collection suck.

Hopefully by my next payday--I'm on disability--Sephora will have gotten Givenchy's diamond powder back in stock and I can buy it without my father noticing. Since I'm stuck here he thinks that gives him license to open my mail and read it and if he sees something he doesn't like--like Sephora--he'll come in here and scream hysterically at me. Fun, huh.

Off I go.

Have a good day my dear!

Should be late Nov or early Dec? So, it gives me plenty of time to wait and read your reviews on them! :)

Antiquitease is out today, so I can go see during the weekend. Hopefully it'll be better than Mcqueen.

you're lucky ;) I'm wanting a few bits and pieces!

The softsparkle pencils are gorgeous! I kinda want to have mini versions :) How diseased am I!

Well the good news is that once we see the actually colors maybe some of the disappointment will fade and we'll be happy with the collection again :)

I kinda like the names hehe!

The brush sets I would skip on as I have way too many of the same thing! I was so curious about the Heirloom brush set but it appears it's just a typical brush set. Nothing special really!

LOL your colorful vocabulary is going to scare my readers ;)

I'm not completely throwing the door closed on the collection! I definitely want to see what the eye palettes look like. I like the design for sure! The only thing that is disappointing would be the safe is similar to all previous releases but I love the old world Victorian/art deco feel of the palettes!

Good luck! I hope the Givenchy pops back in stock :)

aw sorry to hear about your dad! Hope it gets better :(

Hey Serene ;)

Damn that stinks. I like getting these early so I don't have to worry about spending during Nov/Dec and can concentrate on Holiday shopping for others!

That does indeed give you time to see my stuff and sort out what you'd like ;)

Tell me what you think of Antiqutease once you seen it!

I still haven't gotten McQueen lol! Go figure ;)

*hugs* Love you!

I just looked at the palettes on the site and now I'm even more disappointed than before! The only one that remotely catches my eye is the warm eyes. The colors in all the rest just aren't unique at all! I wonder why they don't come up with some really beautiful duochromes for the palettes? Basic is just not fun.

I am still getting one though. That palette design is gorgeous and a must-have!

Hello Taryn :)

I have to say the swatches on site are making me feel blah. But I THINK they'll be quite beautiful in person so we have to wait and see what tomorrow brings ;)

Basic isn't fun at all :( sigh!

I'd say if I can't stand the colors I'll most definitely get at least one because the general stately design of the palette is just too gorgeous to pass up, totally agree with you there ;)

Hello hello again! The one good thing about being pretty much immobile a lot of the time is that you get to stay up late all night and sleep in all day. Yep, pretty much the best thing about my idiot disability.

Anyhows! I apologize for my cursing! I've been cursing like a sailor since eighth grade-- my mum's a Welsh immigrant and so by the time I got to middle school she couldn't hold her tongue any longer and started to talk how she did before she adopted me. So! I inhereted my mum's foul language. Dad doesn't like it but both me and mum just tell him to piss off if he starts whining about it. (haha, when I was little I grew up with a strange amalgam of a Welsh and a Texan accent. Now I don't have an accent at all.)

Now! I've taken another look at MAC's holiday collection and yep, still disappointed. This is honestly the most uninspired and tackiest collection I've seen this year. It pretty much is just a collection of every existing color thrown into a faux-antique compact. And as someone who has several true antique compacts--from my great grandmother and grandmother--these read as a crappy, sloppy imitation. With a little research, these compacts from MAC could've been absolutely beautiful. But nope. They look like something a little girl would pick up at Walgreens in the play-makeup section.

Well, the good news is that not buying any of this, save for the Softsparkle set--and if I end up missing that, I'm not going to be too disappointed. no lemming for it at all.--will save me a ton of money that I can spend on other things. For example! there's some new Skullcandy earbuds that are about fifty dollars because they're fully-coated in metal and just plain awesome. And I plan on buying Givenchy's Lash Pearls off of eBay sometime and there's several Givenchy lipglosses at that Sephora doesn't carry: I'm going to get 'em for me and for my best friend who loves orange.

And I still need to pick up the rest of MAC's Blue Storm collection. All I have are the nail polishes (I love Whirlwind!). And I may get McQueen simply because I look pretty good with a flamboyant Egyptian cat eye. And then I need to track down Dior's Plastic Gloss in Wildest Blue and I need to get that twelve-gigabyte USB flashdrive from Thinkgeek and some horror DVDs and some action figures (in particular, the new xenomorph figures from NECA)...and well, my list is pretty friggin' long. so! not buying all this MAC this year is going to save me a HUGE amount.

Anyhows. I'm getting pretty hungry so I'm going to see if I can find something remotely edible.

Have a good evening, m'dear!

Hello Angelique!

I'm slowly catching up on your comments :)

Aw! Sounds good to me :) I love lazying in bed a bit later ;)

It's ok :) I don't mind so much! Not sure about my other readers lol!

Welsh and Texan? hehe that's a cool combo you got there ;)

Ya this collection pretty much looks the same as last year sadly :( I do still like the "antique" feel to them! I collect old powder jars, compacts, victorian, art deco bits and pieces :) so your grandmother's compacts totally sound interesting to my ears :)

It's actually good news you aren't impressed! Saves you $ for another collection ;)

LOL you have a nice lot to look forward too as you've made your wish list ;) So not getting the mac gives you plenty of spare cash to throw at other stuff which is always awesome! I wish I felt as strongly about missing out on MAC I'm still very addicted ;)

Blue Storm was gorgeous! McQUeen I still haven't gotten yet! Dunno what in the world I am waiting on :)

LOL your wish list is bigger than mine ;)

I agree that a majority is similar to last year :) so it'll save a majority of the addicts a ton of money!

Hope you got something yum to eat :)
